From what I've gathered, in terms of freezing it, this is your best option for preservation.
No one has said yeah or nay about light being a factor, but lack of light isn't going to harm your nicotine. I use the amber.
Light does play a Role in Long Term Storage. So conventional Wisdom would say that Limiting the amount of Light that can reach the Nicotine Base would be a Good Thing.
Just How Much of a Good Thing is Debatable. And Clear Glass does give you the Ability to Monitor Colour changes. (Even though if your Nicotine Base does change Colour, I'm Not sure exactly what you are going to do? Seeing I can't see 100mg/ml Nicotine being available down the road.)
But... Metal Foil lets No Light in. Any Glass Bottle covered in Metal Foil is going to be considered "Vampire Storage".
The Best Glass for Long Term Storage, IMO, is Cobalt Blue. But Cobalt Blue Boston Rounds in 1L/32oz are Hard to find. At Any Price.

IMHO, plastic is a really bad gamble when you're talking about long term storage of anything. Put your bet on glass.
Not a Stupid Question at all. In fact, there has been Much Discussion about this over the Years.
IMO, I would Always suggest that on store their Nicotine Base in Glass Bottles. Glass Doesn't have the Potential to Leech Chemicals into the Nicotine Base. And Glass Isn't considered to be Oxygen Permeable.
Not saying that the "Plastic" containers that your Nicotine comes in could be a Problem. But why take Any Chances with something in All Likelihood you are Not going to be able to replace down the road.
Most vendors ship in plastic containers that are adequate for short term storage, a year or so. Moving your nic into glass bottles is the best way to store it for longer term as glass is not permeable for oxygen to enter and cannot impart any chemicals to the liquid.
Although moving it to glass is important in the long run, the first priority is to put it in the freezer ASAP, as that minimizes any chemical activity. Bottles will be available whenever you want to make your nic last for the long run.
If money's tight, you don't have to buy all your glass bottles right away. Freeze your nic in the plastic bottles for now and decant into glass later (maybe no longer than a year from date of purchase). Just make sure you take your nic out of the freezer the night before so it comes to room temperature before you open the bottle and decant.
And for pete's sake, don't give away your whole stash just so someone else can quit smoking.

Even if you Don't Freeze it, just keeping it in Frig is a very Viable Option.
And even if you Don't Frig/Freeze it, just keeping it in a Cool Dark Place like the back of a Closet should get you 2 or 3 Years.
Oh, that's really good to know. I was thinking like a year at best, lol. I have enough freezer room to hold a gallon, but the fridge would work much better. I feel much more comfortable knowing that.
I would just Chuck what you can in the Freezer, And keep the rest in the Frig in Smaller Bottles. Like 250ml or so.
You want to have some in the Frig anyway. That way you Aren't Defrosting/Opening your Frozen stuff every time you want to mix up a 60ml batch of your favorite DIY.
