I thought I measured the km3 at 53 or 55 mm without tip. If 53, then I can see that being close to 7mm difference

If that arm isn't there to help out thicker wires from squashing out, then it has to be there just to help hold the wire while trapping. Like mentioned before, you bring the excess wire around the opposite arm to hold. If this is it, then maybe the SHARP outer bottom edges of the opposite arm kind of digs and holds so it doesn't slip...

I'm seeing the coil under an arm then screw head then the other arm. Not being wrapped around the screw.

Oh, are you thinking the arm and screw move up and down together? Maybe that is it.

I was looking at this vid

and it seems that both air and e-liquid controlled by the same ring by sliding it up or down..

I can see where it might look like that, but to my eyes it is not the same control.

The airflow ring slides up over the tank, spins, and slides back down into position for the desired airflow.

The tank itself spins, just like the Kayfun Mini v3, in order to control the juice flow.

The simplest solution is an insert that reduces the diameter of the the air hole under the coil. I know of at least two atomizers that provide such an insert--this is the latest one (left). I like this one because it's ss and it screws neatly into the air shaft thus reducing the original 3.4mm airhole to 2.4mm effortlessly. SM will probably include some kind of silicone insert that will do the same thing.
