I extract pipe tobacco while still moist, I don't think a little moisture hurts anything, just my opinion though. I wouldn't dry it to a crunchy stale state, leathery should be plenty good enough, go for it!

Dunhill "Nightcap"

Str8, do have more good tobaccos extracted ? Could you make a new list, please ?
Did you ever try Dunhill "Elizabethan Mixture"? IF I remember correctly it had a strong grassy, straw, hay-like bite and was moderately strong in flavor.
I'll go through my notes and make a new list of my favorites, may take a few days.![]()
i answered in bold. if you don't want to waste your tobacco just make smaller batches.. a few grams of tobacco and 30ml of PGA should be enough to get you around 10ml extract when done (if you're careful not to spill any, or let too much soak up in the filter).I am thinking about not wasting all the good and expensive tobacco and extracting them with the best method i can find. I ask myself many questions.
1. Is it better to steep the tabaccos a few weeks before the hot ethanol extraction and not only 3 days ?
you can extract without heat, it just takes longer.. you can do a cold soak for 2-3 weeks then maybe a quick 2-3 hours of low heat just to make sure everything from the tobacco is extracted.
2. Is it better to let the tobacco with ethanol in the jars for a few weeks after the hot extraction ?
once it's heated for a dozen or so hours there is probably nothing left in the tobacco to be worthy to let it sit for additional time, but i don't think a few more days would hurt, you just might not see any benefit doing so.
3. Is it better for flavouring to pass on mixing the extract with pg and let them in the reduced ethanol like you ?
i personally have not tried to compare transferring the extract from PGA to PG, perhaps someone else can answer that, but as long as you reduce the PGA extract so you end up with more concentrated flavor you don't need to add a lot PGA to eliquid (so you don't get alcohol taste by having to use a lot of the extract, or causing the extract to dilute the viscosity of the eliquid too much).
4. Is it better to make the extraction for perhaps 24 hours and perhaps with other temperatures ? Or for example 12 hours and than reducing the temperature ?
after 12 hours consider it done. as mentioned above, there likely won't be any additional benefit doing it for longer.
5. to do the extraction with only pg and must look how gunky the extract would be ?
extract in PG is more gunky than PGA. PG requires a lot more filtering and better filters.
Perhaps i will try all the steps with my favourite rolling tobacco american spirit. I dont know what to do.
Cool. This is a big list. I am thinking i have to buy in the usa. I have only found the dunhill nightcap in germany. It tastes good, but its not very strong. I have extraced it 10 days ago and mixed it at 15 percent. Perhaps we have a different taste. I like only full and strong flavouring.
I am searching this fire cured flavouring, that i have found in the smoked latakia and the dark fired from net.com. I mean this tastes a little bit more like a burning tobacco. Do you know some of these tobaccos ?

What of these steps have you tried ?
One question at the end. Have you ever tasted some juices from net.com to have a comparision to your home made juices ?
Here's an updated list of tobaccos that extracted well and suited -my- taste, but remember taste is "highly" subjective;
I would recommend the hot PG method, quicker results. If I remember correctly I processed extractions for 3 - 4 days @ 145F and then filtered.
Up early. Got coffee and started jarring up several tobaccos. The smell of this one was incredible! Beautiful and sorta decadent. Can't wait.Sutliff Private Stock "Molto Dolce" -(aromatic flavored tobacco, best enjoyed fresh, changes with age
