I have done some hot ethanol extractions with glasses of champignons. I dont believe that we really need expensive glasses. I have bought some because of tutorials and because they looks very pretty. If we would need higher temperatures for extraction it could be better, but i havent any problems also with the champigon glasses. There are many glasses like for example marmelade glasses from the marmelades you buy.

I bought 4oz and 8oz canning jars but I had a couple of marinaded artichoke hearts that came in 8oz jars and after a good washing they worked just as good as the canning jars.

I use Ball brand canning jars from Walmart, 4 and 8 oz sizes are around $0.80 each when buying a dozen (12), rings and lids included. I use -real- canning jars because they are manufactured to handle heat, pressure, moderate thermal shock and the ring/lid are designed to provide an air-tight seal while still allowing any excess pressure to vent past them when tightened correctly. I "can" garden vegetables, berries and peaches each year so have plenty on hand and am familiar with how to use them.

Of my last five extractions only the cigar was noteworthy, a Drew Estate "Acid Blondie" Belicoso. If you ever actually smoked one of these you'd know they have a -unique- taste due to the fermentation/curing process. This cigar extracts extremely well and tastes just like it smokes, has a moderate strength immediately after extraction definitely the strongest cigar I've produced to date. It's unique flavor might not be for everyone, you'll either love or hate it, a winner for my taste. Can't wait to see how this ages, it's already surprisingly potent. :)

I've gotten them there and at Target. Usually Target cause it's an easy stop on the way home.

I'm trying the Dunhill Nightcap right now after a short bath in the rice cooker and letting it breath last night. The flavor is there but, it's just a tad weak. I'll leave it to it's lonesome for awhile and it should strengthen up. But, I'm happy since MVJ's is one of my favs and it's close.

Dunhill Standard Mixture - PipesandCigars.com and Seattle Pipe Club Seattle Evening - PipesandCigars.com are up next to be filtered probably tomorrow.

For me -bite- is an intense "distinct" tobacco nuance, a form of harshness where you can "feel" the tobacco flavor as well as taste it. Several of my mixed NETs have a -bite- to them where specific tobacco flavor notes provide a sense of throat hit somewhat similar to the harshness of smoking though not as intense. Very few NETs accomplish this and some people may not like that characteristic in a vape, I do. I also like a lingering tobacco "taste" (like after smoking a cigar or pipe), and again very few NETs provide this.

My personal goals with extracting and mixing NET is to find tobacco blends/types and methods of extraction that yield flavor that has both mid and high range bite along with genuine tobacco flavor/aftertaste. Been working on it for three years and am not quite there yet.

I certainly have nothing against intense, distinct and lingering tobacco flavor - that would be awesome in a vape. The way "bite" is described in smoked tobacco makes it sound like it actually causes pain or discomfort in the mouth. I thought it might have something to do with the chemical composition of a particular varietal , i.e., some tobaccos might be more acidic than others (if any tobacco is naturally acidic - I don't really know) or become more acidic as a result of the casing or curing method used, and conceivably, that quality could be present in the extract.

Cigars are tough to extract and usually produce a much lighter tasting flavor than will pipe tobacco. Since you seem to like a deep dark flavor here's the method I would recommend for a -cigar- extraction;

I believe it was the cigar, some tobaccos extract better than others.

I found that strong cigars from Nicaragua work best for me

My 8 extracted cigar juices are all green. Is it at the most cigars ? What colour have you had ? After one day steeping i taste nothing.

Don't let the color put you off, of the cigars I've extracted most had a green hue, some were tan with various shades of green tint. :) I've only extracted around 15 different cigars but of those only two produced decent flavor, that's why I chose to focus on extracting pipe tobaccos, they're easier. Even with aging most cigar NETs provide but a whispy shadow of a cigar's true flavor.

If you use the PG/PGA method I outlined earlier you can achieve a -significantly- stronger cigar extract but it takes 2 - 3 months and is hard on wicks and coils.

I'm vaping the "Acid Blondie" as I type, it's good even fresh!

tried the American Virginia Flue Cured and Sweet Brightleaf. honestly i can't tell much difference between the two. definitely has tobacco flavor, but as of right now they taste like an unflavored cigarette. was hoping for some tobacco flavor notes, at least from the Sweet Brightleaf.. its only been steeping for 4 days, hoping things change as it ages a bit more in the elquid. or maybe i just killed the tobacco notes by reducing the extract at too high temps (140F).
