Well Eclipse you've really made a crazy mod. After reading a few of these posts in this thread I went out today and bought some carbon foam that looks real similar to what you've posted here (because they don't sell marineland here in Australia anymore). Anyway cut it to a similar size and leaked a little but after a while it works real nice. I'm thinkin sliding a small cut of the original fill from the cart into the bottom so it soaks up the liquid and prevents the spillage. anyway, it's worked real so far, so for people who are thinking of trying this it's worth it! Get a lot more use out of you're e-liquid!

Just sticking my 2 cents in here. I've never tried any of the foams. Only the PTB and the green scrubbers. The PTB is too much of a hassle to make up. Doesn't hold much liquid and I noticed even after washing, there is a residue that stays on it and doesn't come off by rinsing. Not gonna try to wash them in soap either. With the residue, it doesn't hold much liquid any more. I found the green scrubbers are the best. They work fantastic and last a long time. Keep reusing them without even having to rinse them so far. They plug great, wick great and are easy to make. I just cut around a cart and it's the perfect size. Plus I don't need anything to hold it. No spring or anything. It's solid enough that it holds it's shape and stays above the ridge in the cart. This has worked so good for me, I won't even bother trying the foam.

Hey Samy what is this green scrubber you speak of? Could you post a link for me? Wouldn't mind trying this either, as the only mod I've tried so far is this filter foam. Cheers

This is what they look like. 3M makes them and Scotch Brite too, but there are other brands too. I use 3m. Makes sure they don't have any metal or other stuff in them. I'm in Canada and they're available everywhere. They're used for scrubbing pots and dishes. Hope you find some where you are. Good luck.

3m scrubber pads - Google Search

Or just google 3M Scrubber Pads.

CAUTION!!
The green Heavy Duty Scotch Brite pads ABSOLUTELY have metal abrasives in them - I researched this thoroughly. You can see the grit when you cut them. I used them for a few days and my throat felt scratchy afterwards. So, maybe use a generic or a non-heavy duty without the abrasives. Better to use the Scotch Brite non-scratch version. They are BLUE and don't have the metal abrasives to make them "non-scratch."

I looked at the 3m Pads and they kind of scared me away. If you're looking for a pad the Cerama Bryte pads are a lot easier to use. Like the top of a Scotch pad. I've since moved on to another material, but I liked the Cerama Bryte pads. The just seemed to shrink too much after a few days of use and I was afraid of leaking but I was happy with the results and ease of use. And they compressed to much to use in the Blue Foam mod when doubled over.

P.S. The journey is half the fun... unless you're dealing with cartridges. Then, it's personal!

Tonight I picked up a 3-pack of the blue Scotch Brite "no scratch" pads. They are working great as a cartridge filler on my 510's and 901's. I'm one happy camper. :D

:D Congrats!

Welp i think i may have discovered something last night. Initial tests are telling me i'm on to something here. I've been having some serious probs with my shotgun slug. Anyways, have gone back to the slug for the time being.. well basicly the slug anyways.

I'll update more when i get it all figured out.

I'm using the 3M ones and I don't see any metal or anything else in them. I'm happy with them. Haven't noticed any weird taste or anything either.

Kristin used that stuff and didnt like it and is using something else.. why dont you go over to her thread insted of derailing mine eh? Thx.

eclypse. I'm not trying to drail your thread. Just cause I have an idea. I got the scrubber pad idea from this very thread, so if you want to complain to someone, complain to the one who mentioned the scrubber pads first. I was just trying to be helpful. Geez! Don't worry, I won't bother to post in "YOUR" thread again.

The blue foam is available at Petco and they had a free shipping special a couple weeks ago.

I got the pads, popped them in the dishwasher alone on a no-soap cycle, let them air dry thoroughly, and only now tried the v2.0 mod (no straws in the house right now).

Wow. Awesome. Thanks so much eclypse. My first cart mod, but I think you might have saved this newbie from burning up more juice-starved atomizers. (Did that to my first two 306 attys, and trying to clean the subsequent juice-resistant burnt taste was their final death warrant.)

I'm switching to 510 attys with this mod now. I can't wait to try it with the Xhaler I'm expecting for Xmas. :)

Yeah, I'm sad to wait three weeks!

Oh man, the blue foam makes it too easy to keep the atomizer wet, and thus enabling chain vaping...8-o : nic-buzzes all the way to class wheeeee :

You can't see the metal abrasives, but they are there. I looked it up on the 3M site and they say there are metal abrasives embedded in it. The blue 3M pad is essentially the same thing, without the abrasives. It's your body, so your choice - just so you're fully informed.

One more note on the scrubber pads (sorry), on the back of the packaging it states in bold "not for use in aquariums". This implies there could be toxic substances not for consumption, perhaps from the manufacturing process.

Ya know they should just add in there " Not recommended for personal vaporizers"

Update: I got something new comming.. The idea is down i just gota figure out the best way to do it. Its "out there" forsure and its gona open some eyes as the thery behind it is not logical. I'll prob have to make a video demonstrating this one and why it works.

Oh and to everyone thats currently using the Shotgun Slug.. Take it out! Toss the straw out and continue to use the slug.

I've burned up 2 attys using that mod.. its not a 100% sure fire vape.. Dry fires sometimes.. and most likely will end up holding the juice. I didnt kill the attys.. its just now when they run dry i freakin know it as i get that god awfull burnt taste! YUCKIES! Fine when its wet though.
