I'm new to ecigs myself, and im pretty sure im going to just give up and go back to newports at this point.

Every flavor juice just about tastes the same at this point between the 2 atomizers i obtained from cignot. The taste is chemical, almost burnt - as previously described. It covers the taste of all of the juice I use to the point where its mostly nasty with a 'hint' of flavor. Like someone tripped over a house fire with a mint candy.

Ugh.

dreamstate - see my post in response to oldbroad. Please make the supplier aware that you understand this is a manufacturing problem, direct them to this information. Hopefully they will exchange the atomizers for you.

Out of curiosity i tried the orange coil dry burn technique, and came across an interesting result. When the coils were hot enough to glow orange, the atty started emitting a thick and billowing smog of white. This smog continues no matter how long I dry burn, and has the same smell as the taste I've complained about.

Does this information help anyone on the troubleshooting end?

I've experienced the same. If you burn a few times then rinse the atty in hot water then burn again a few more times you may find that this improves. A second rinse-and-burn sequence might be in order depending on how gunked up it was to begin with.

At first I thought this might the issue that some have been having with foul attys but now I think that it's just a typical occurrence.

My first e-cig was 901 - after about a week of use I can taste the chemical smell from the atty. I'm using USB passthrough instead of battery because I was a chain smoker and I hate having to recharge it every hour or so. Maybe that's why there's a bad taste on the 901 and the component might've died because of the difference in the voltage (usb vs battery)?

Then when I switched to 510 and the bad taste was absolutely gone. I thought it was gone forever, but now it appears again after a few weeks of use, but less harsh. This 510 last longer than 901 for sure though. Much more vapor too. Just half an hour ago I tried the cleaning tips. Will post the result in a few days.

In the mean time I'm using another atomizer ... still the same great taste.

Cleaned 4 atomizers. Result:

- 3 cleaned. No more bad taste. Like new. Very fresh. No chemical taste whatsoever. So I rinsed it with hot water for a few minutes (just tap water). Then with 70% alcohol for 45 minutes. Then with hot water again. Then left it dry for about 30 minutes, then I did a "dry burn" for 3 seconds, 4 times. Works great. The last one doesn't produce as much vapor as the other two but the bad taste is gone.
- 1 really died.

Ditto and Ditto! When I tried to "dry burn" the nasty ones? ohhh man... and that horrid smell lingered in the room for such a long time! It actually makes me feel nauseous and has given me bad headache!

ogzpy - I can't comment about the 901 - the problems we're having n this thread address the 510. I haven't personally seen anyone complain about the 901. Glad the problem cleared up when you got a 510 though! :)

I'm sorry if I repeat something but I didn't read the WHOLE thread!
I have had similar problems with this - the nasty nasty taste, I tried all sorts of things, and really thought it had me beat.
I then came across a picture and description about lining up the carts in the atomiser, this then changed the problem instantly.
If the cart isn't matched up with the white bit at the bottom of the attie then it burns. Anyway hope this helps.
Can you please show me that picture? I don't understand what you mean. Can anybody better explain this?

What you do is screw the atomizer in, then before putting in the cartriage look into it and see how the medal next to the whick is (its an oval shape). then put your cartriage into the atomizer in the same direction. I had it the exact opositive (I was using my pointer finger as the trigger when you should be using your thumb). Nothing anywhere says to do this, but I belive it to be helping. Befoer it was so horrid I could not even get any satisfaction. Now it is still a tad bad tasting but it is alot better. It may be to late to repair after using for a few hours the wrong way, but I hope this fixes my problem!

As stated by the moderator in several posts, this thread is for reporting and discussing problems with Joye 510 attys that have a chemical burnt taste after illuminating all possible user error mistakes. We are discussing what has been called the largest manufacturer's defect ever seen on the ECF forum. If you have problems with your 901 or another atty please start a thread for that model.

Stevee, the poster is talking about lining your cart with the bridge. If you look inside your atty you will see a white oval piece under the mesh. It's shaped similar to the end of your cart. These two should be lined up to match. [] to []... not [] to // or any other direction.

When you put the cap on your cart look inside and turn the cart before putting it on so it matches up. Don't turn it once it's on.

There's a "New Member" forum where new users having problems will get their questions answered more quickly. This isn't really the thread for that.

copied over from another post:

I've been vaping since October, and I think out of the 15 or so 510 attys I've purchased, about 3 of them worked really well.

Usually, they don't produce much flavor or taste burnt. Then they're producing tons of vapor but zero flavor from the juice. It's really a frustrating thing.

I've bought attys from NHaler, Puresmoker, altsmoke. I've used regular 510 batts and a protege. The juices are from Nhaler and DIYFlavorshack. The common denominator seems to be these attys...

When they work, they work wonderfully for about 5 days, then they only fizzle. No red coils, nothing (yes, I've drained them). I've never had an atty work for more than five days straight, even the good ones that worked. I've thrown away more attys than I've actually used. There is definitely some sort of issue from the manu. They were all legit Joye510 attys (or so I'm told).

I've used the same juice in 808 cartos, with better results.

So, just ordered another five pack from TW. The last pack every single one of them was foul. I'm on my third atty from the new pack, the first two were foul, one of them being the most disgusting yet. The one I'm on right now has the taste (chemical, plastic, garbage), but a little mellower than the first two. I am so sick of this bull, I haven't had a good atty since December. I wrote TW about the problem about a month ago, asking them if they have had other complaints. The only response I got was "these atty are not under warranty". Think TW just lost a customer.

Thing that really blows, over the last few months I've sent five friends to TW. All of which purchased a 510 mega starter kit, and all have had the same problem and given up.

Still no resolution or "official word" from any vendor on this?

UD.

Uber--do not expect one either. But what you should expect is an exchange or refund from a Supplier if you get a 510 atomizer that gives off a fowl burnt taste as that nickel mesh is suppose to burn. It is a Manufacture issue to resolve, but the Supplier should be getting a refund from the Manufacture anyway.
