I must agree with billym. E-cig is the perfect title if we wish to influence onlookers because the name is something their used to, but with a techno-twist. They'll consider it the same way most of us do (as a practical habit without the health issues). As for thoes who may consider it as bad as smoking analogs we should try to feed them a more regal and acceptable name without associating it to classic cigarettes. Nicotene Inhaler seems perfect. It doesnt remind the listen of analogs nor does it stray from the products inteded purpose. Its to the point and professional. Two Thumbs UP.

Sorry, guys, I'm sticking with E-cigarette and e-smoking because it's too late for this kind of thing. Anybody looking into the issue is going to know "e-cig" already and anything else we use will be seen for a euphemism at best, and deliberate obfuscation at worst. Which, let's be honest, is exactly what it is.

Remember this same discussion many months ago, Leaford? You are right, of course. We can play word games all day, but these are established by sellers as e-cigarettes, etc. Even that rejected FDA submission from E-Cig.com was for e-cigarettes, e-cigars, e-pipes, etc.

My suggestion is that for official correspondence with health and regulatory agencies, we refer to them as personal vaporizers, "popularly known as e-cigarettes". We rise above the fray. The more scientific sounding the term, the better the impression. Besides, VAPORIZERS are legal. E-cigarettes, the FDA now says to E-Cig, are not. We better find a different road to travel if we expect this practice to have a future.

We will not replace "e-cigarette" as the Google search term of preference, however. Too late. Way too late.

Ok, so here is an idea... Why don't we MAKE up a word for them? Think of it, at some point someone called "cigarettes" that when it wasn't even a word. So what is to stop us from making up a word we like and rolling with it. Like...Grundle. "What is that"..."Oh it's my Grundle, like a cigarette but electronic and safe"...Lets go to the bar and grundle a while. We were all grundling around a campfire?

Lol, ok well that's my sugesstion. Think outside the box and lets make up a word. People many years from now can say "hrmmm, why is it called a grundle" and everyone can say I don't know...But we'll know ;) lol

That's great, and kudos on the idea to just make up a word..... but grundle is slang for the skin area of male anatomy located between the scrotum and anus. I'm not sure if that's the image we want to conjure in people's minds... :D

Or maybe we do? I dunno, I just see it as being sort of a downer. :)

Sadly a lot of sellers will refuse to change the name they've been calling it for various reasons. One of the main reason being that it is a major selling point to have the word 'Cigarette' in the name of the product. That way possible consumers can more easily associate with the product.

Even though the present name kind of sticks out like a sore thumb.

I don't feel like digging up the thread (working on testing those jc sampler bottles, kate you are better at this than me) but i remember ludo from janty actually suggesting that we all call them personal fog machines, and NOT e-cigs. Maybe that was just marketing for the mini-fogger, but i look at it as permission to use that term.

I see this as less political than it is simply social, it's an easy word to say, and it describes the device. I will probably call it an e-... or e-cig myself because i honestly don't care about the political ramifications of things i say on a day-to-day basis (i'm a janitor). If you must have a term for it that is as "pc" as possible, while still taking into account the understandability, charisma, and legislative properties of the term you are using, then i think fogger is pretty good.

It's not just made up.
Cigarette comes from cigar (little cigar), which comes from Spanish cigarro, which likely comes Mayan sik'ar, which comes from Mayan word for tobacco.

Maybe take the Chinese word for e-cigarette and Anglicize the sound to an English spelling, then translate that into the many different languages.

I had read elsewhere on this post that the word vaporizer only produces hits associated with pot, so users came to the conclusion that using the word vaporizer for e-cigs would be bad because of the negative conotations we are trying to avoid.

I just went on Amazon, they have been selling Njoy since september and wanted to see if there were any user reviews,

Has anyone ever seen this Njoy e-cig?
How do you even smoke it?

Talk about conotations,
