Annnd went back to a .6 micro coil. The nano vapes nice and plumes nice but to me just lacks the flavor of a micro. These micros got me chasing a better vape witch I can't find. I'm not "artistic" enough to grab wire and come up with something different that actually works for me. I'm a slave to the micro coil. Isn't admitting your dependcy the first step?

Hahaha, I finally built something half decent. 28g 1.2Ω wrapped on a 1.5mm drill bit. I used 3mm ecowool and torched it till it shrank. I tested my loose wick theory and wrapped a strand of 32g kanthal around the wick to compress it to the coil. After saturating the wick and putting a fews hours through it, I'll say its bordering awesome. Moderate warm up times with VERY WARM vapor, hot even. The flavor is "wet" and maybe a bit muted. This is how I will build my a7 from now on, maybe buy a 14500 mod and marry them. It would have to have an AFC because the chemesis Im using it on is a blessing. I GET THE CARTO CRACKLE :) :) :)

So there are obviously numerous variations with this and I'm sure they're all sick. What I'm wondering is if there's an improvement if the coil's opening is aligned to the air intake as opposed to just having the coil perpendicular to the air hole. Looks like both work well, but iTEO, your thoughts on this? I imagine having a coils opening aligned to the air hole would promote air flowing through the coil itself whereas with it perpendicular it's just sucking it all up off the coil and less through it.

the air pressure and circulation when you draw is enough to let air pass through the coil. I did on the other hand raised my top cop to keep it lined up with the coil and position the air hole at the end of the coil opening. in doing this, you draw air more lightly and casually and still produce massive juicy clouds. by raising the air hole, you also raise your coil height. raising the coil height means mode cotton under your coil and more cotton means more juice and more juice means more vaping before your refill.

(single venting dragon) using a fat o ring to raise the air hole height. you might need to change the stock o ring for it to hold better and won't come loose.

Fast forward more than a month (been gone for some time, started fulltime work again :) )and the dragon nano is now my standard build. Really hard to go wrong with it. I recently bought an IGO-L (for a measly 120 pesos or 3 dollars, on my fave shop's clearance sale) and it just seems perfect for this build. I've learned a lot especially about the angle of the coil, the amount of cotton to use, how much of it should cover parts of the coil.

I especially love that resistance doesn't matter that much on this build--I've done .6ohm to 1.3 and all of them are satisfying enough. My preferred range is at .7-1 ohm though.

And hey, this build has now become a household term for vapers. Seen it around facebook posts and forums. Congrats, iTEO!

@durianeliquidflavorplease: I'm glad you liked it. Yes, you are true on all accounts... flavor, vapor production and throat hit is simply amazing on the dragon setup. my daily builds are single coil .8 ohm & .6 ohm (I love single coils, specially on the dragon) both builds only needs 2 of my Samsung 20R batteries for an all day vape.

I'm just glad to share my build and is happy to kn

Is anyone else besides me running high amount of wraps on a build like this? Most of the ones I've seen throughout the thread have been lower. I'm talking wraps not resistance/wire gauge. I just finished building a dual coil dragon, tight twisted 30 gauge, 12 wrap per side, around an atty hex key (smaller than a needle) that meters out at .8 ohms. It has a bit of lag time compared to using a similar dual with 6-8 wraps of plain 30 gauge. This is to be expected but it's still not bad of lag. I still seem to get a better, thicker vape with the higher wraps/twisted than I do with the tighter, smaller, non-twisted coil. Probably due to more surface area.

Obviously flavor, TH, etc is all subjective I was just wondering if anyone else is enjoying a high wrap setup like me? Especially since I hadn't seen many others built that way throughout the thread. Or do you go different gauge and less wraps because of lag time/room inside of the atty? Just wanted to get some opinions from you guys! Loving this thread!

P.S this is also my standard build now after toying with it for a few weeks... Big thanks to iTEO. My normal is 6-8 wrap dual coil with reg 30 gauge kanthal... I just tried the above to get the same resistance with more contact area. .8 ohms is also my personally set limit while using 2000 mah AW's Im stuck with for now.

For me it is much faster to do a single coil with less wraps rather than doing a dual coils more wraps on each coil to get the sane resistance. With a single coil or a dual coils, the vapor production, taste and TH are more or less are the same for me. So why do the an extra job to get the same result....cheers... :)

Here is my Trident clone with ribbon wire...

Operation move- I have done those on a regular basis. I like running parallel instead of twisted. It's the same lag time as twisted, but the coil is even longer almost twice the coverage. 10-12 wraps of two wires side by side is 20-24 total for a nice long coil. Even better than twisted IMO.

I build mine using 1mm paperclip 28AWG 8 wraps. I just cant seems to get the vapor to shot out like how it was shown by iTEO. Mine just shot upwards and i seems to get dry hits really fast even most of the cotton is still moist. I got half of my coil burried into the cotton bed but still no luck. Is there anything wrong i am doing here?

Hey guys. Thanks to everyone in this thread for your help. I have resurrected RBA's that were lost and collecting dust somewhere. Nano/Micro coils and cotton have elevated the experience tremendously. Here are a few pictures, might be a bit boring to a few of you veterans but here they are:

28 ga, 9 wraps around a large paper clip, 1.1 ohm, single coil

IMG_20131103_164654_821.jpgIMG_20131103_165314_716.jpg

I am blowing some nice clouds from my Private V2 and RSST and going in to flavor overload, also dropped from 12mg to 6 mg...

Please feel free to add any recommendations, tips, tricks..... I don't have the coil fully sunk in the cotton, it is however touching...

Thanks again :thumb:

That's what I love about these builds. Anyone can be proficient at wrapping coils in a short amount of time. And micro builds can be adapted to any rba and some bcc's too. This sight should be renamed E.V.U. for Electric Vape University. It's where I've learned the most about everything vape related.

I tried the hydra last night. Maybe I should add more wraps but with four coils a 3/4 wrap of 28g not doing that great. I also had less cotton so I'll play around with it some more.

try twisted 28g kanthal and silica wick. what you'll do (silica or cotton) is you want your wick under the coils. I used my paper clip jig to push the wick under the coils fanning it out so it will create a bedding, all coils will now have a sealed bottom and open top :)
