Setting the coil on top of the cotton isn't a proper dragon coil. You have to cover the coils leaving an end open while the other is closed. Or I've seen iTEO leave both ends open for dual venting, but the vapor is more concentrated with only one end open. Here's how I wrap mine. It's my Tinman's Dragon, but you'll get the point.

So, if I'm not mistaken, isn't this just a microcoil that's been angled, and surrounded with cotton? I'm currently not happy with my cotton bed .9ohm 28AWG microcoil on my Cyclone sitting on a Reo Grand. Admittedly, I think it's just the 1mm airhole it has... I'm thinking of opening it to 1/8" or more, as I've gotten used to the dual air hole setup my Trident has...

I'd start with a 1/16" and work your way up.

A nano is slight smaller than a micro :)

I honestly was thinking 1/16", maybe.

Well, I wrap on a 20awg needle soooo... nano?

I just did what I think is a dragon coil, and I'm getting much more vapor, but significantly less flavor. :\

I tend to have the same results. The cotton bed thing is quite tricky to me. Can't get a constant vape out of it. I must be doing something wrong

I tried it like that, but I get a hot spot at the open end, but it burns evenly when I pulse it without any cotton. Any suggestion?

Yeah, anything less than a 17 ga is nano. The smallest I've run is an 18 ga. It was too small to consistently wick traditionally thru the coil with rolled cotton.

I haven't tried a build with the cotton outside the coil because I get all the vapor, flavor and TH I want with a traditionally wicked micro coil and it's such a simple, easy to maintain build :)

Glad to see this thread still going. Guess I need to catch up. I thought it died a while back. Thought I'd share a pic I snapped after getting my nimbus clone in from FT. It was the first try, so it only come out to 1 ohm. Luckily I measured the wire so I have a baseline. Stuffing 4 wires in that middle post was patience trying.

Hey guys, just checking in with my latest.

This PIA build is a Dual Split Nano Coil. 28g, 10 wraps each then split in half giving me a 5 wrap quad nano setup. Dragon Coil style wicking at .36 ohms. Reminds me of a rocket on test fires like a Saturn 5 (yea, yea... that rocket had 5 boosters).

This thing is a cloud machine lol. I can't really judge flavor though. I used a DIY juice. But I will be rewicking and changing juice on it soon.

As for splitting method, I did a normal 10 wrap first and then torched while pinching. Then I split it... this part was an absolute pain in my left .... cheek. If you have one of those jeweler's magnifying headwear, I highly suggest you use it. I wish I had one lol. After I split, I have it a pinch with tweezers to tighten them back up. Then I put my safety pins back in and installed them. I gave them another pinch after dry burning them to make sure everything was nice and tight and in working order.

These coils glow bright red instantly.
