I'm doing okay. Some days I think I'm going to cruise by the next 3 months and other days I feel like it's going to be a long journey. Today is a long journey kind of day. :)

Snakes are bad here this year for some reason, especially the Copperheads.

Hang in there, Evie.

Speaking of copperheads...

Last summer, before the desolation of the woods, Fiance was walking Bruno down the trail when he stepped on something squishy. He thought 'Great! I stepped in crap!' but in the split second the snake whipped up and snagged itself onto his jeans!!! Well he reached down without thinking, grabbed the snake, ripped it off of his pants and threw it. Now Bruno was barking at it and backing away from it and the snake was trying to go after Bruno. Fiance did the only think he could... He tap/river danced on it. He brought the snake up so his dad could 'see' it. His dad has Macular Degeneration so he thought it was a rat/chicken snake. And I, as much as I like snakes, never paid much attention to what a copperhead looked like so I went along with it.

Fast forward to this spring when a pic showing what poisonous snakes look like showed up on my FB. I said "Precious, you remember that snake from last summer? Well it wasn't a rat snake!" We were pretty shocked... and thankful that fiance was wearing PJ's under his jeans. We even have video of that really dead snake. Fiance stomped its head into oblivion!:shock::shock:

Reminder folks: ALWAYS look where you step when you are outdoors, in a cellar, or in the crawl space under your house!!!!

Geez, just reading this scared me.

I'm not sure how many specie we have here but it's a great plenty lol. Eastern Diamondback, Cottonmouth Moccasin, Pigmy Rattlesnake and Coral are about the only venomous ones I can think of. Puff Adder, Grass snakes, Rat snakes, Blacksnakes (my favorite) and now the Everglades are home to a few exotic specie. Burmese Python, Green Anaconda. Of all of them the only one that really bothers me and has aggressively tried to attack me is the Moccasin. The rest just want to be left alone and I do my best to accommodate them.

That is plenty of different snakes. The pythons and anacondas seem like they could be scary. They can get so big!

Cindycated - Hopefully I won't need the sandpaper but I located some in my paint supplies bin.

SandySu - Glad the kids are okay.

We got so much done yesterday. Hubby said he would help me move the round pen today. Yay! Been on my list forever.

I got the cleaning up the pens supplies organized. I got the feed shed organized.

I fixed the floor in the long shed. The new dogs got in there and dug up the dirt floor. I had to fill some big holes and lay down my plywood floor" again.

We weeded in the veggie garden. I had zero peas to pick. Hope they decide to come on again since I don't have nearly enough for the winter yet. I picked delicious carrrots and rads to go with our home grown lettuce. What a salad!

I worked on the east side irrigation zone. I planted some buffalo berry babies and three pine trees. I tightened up the system and added drippers to some of the trees in that zone.

I managed to straighten out the nails and screws and get them put back onto the refurbished shelving/cabinet.

Hubby has been working on his smoker. He is making it from two food grade oil barrels. It is looking fantastic and he almost has it done.He made a frame for it and he put the old wagon wheels on it so it rolls easily. He is a good welder.

I think I am feeling caught up around here and that makes me very happy.

Fixed that for ya Jerry. :p
Meanie !!!!!

As Sunvaporer used to say, you are an "inlander" QRXT. In my younger days, I used to go down to the docks to watch the tuna boats sail in. The smell of salt air made me hungry. :)

You don't know Sunvaporer. He is the one who kept track of the SE/NJOY vs FDA court case. He left the forum, shortly after SE/NJOY won the case.

Okay got something for "Lizzie" that I thought might interest her and everyone else . . . I went to the Local GAY PRIDE Event and Parade here yesterday . . . AND - I was very surprised to see that there was among the other Animal Rescue groups - there was actually a Horse Rescue Group too . . .

This Group also had a very special Miniature Horse there to help entice someone to adopt the Horses . . . AND - Also, helped to get some very nice donations for the group too . . .

When I saw the Beautiful Miniature Horse - I immediately thought of "You" . . . :D

I suppose I am an inlander, but there is a lot of fishing in my neck of the woods too. I just don't like fish or seafood, never did, even as a kid. When we took a trip to Maine, Mr. Q got a fresh lobster dinner, he was enjoying it so much! I had to leave the table while he was eating it, it just turned my stomach. I know I'm the oddball, I just couldn't resist teasing you. :)

Unh, unh, no way, not a chance. Tuna, tomato, lettuce and mayo makes for great summer sandwiches. Salmon and spinach go into the trash.
The trash? Not the shop vac?

I had the lettuce, tomato and mayo too. Plus cream cheese, sour cream, water chestnuts and spinach. It was really yummy. On sourdough. :)

Uncle, that rainbow mini horse is cute. I love how they decorated him!

I worked at a dressage show all day yesterday. Then when I got home, I worked on the many photos I took and sent them to the club members who had entered the show. So I didn't get to check in yesterday at all.

Here are 2 photos from the show. The horses are both chestnuts (their color), but they are different horses.

So pretty! SandySu.

Hope you had fun at the horse show.

More pics to come?

We had a very busy weekend. Hubby finished his smoker. I got some photos of him working on it. I'll try to get one or two posted tomorrow.

We BBQ's a cross rib roast. It turned out to be delicious and we get three dinners from one meal. I don't have to cook tonight. Left overs for dinner. Yay.

I am working around here this morning. Watering and feeding the critters. Making sure the plants are watering properly. Our fabulous yellow honey locust is dropping leaves. I found out one reason may be it needs summer water. I upped the watering on it by adding 7 more 1/2 gallon drippers and now I am running a hose on low to really boost the water in the soil. Crossing my fingers that this works since I need that tree. It is the center piece of the backyard.

We managed to trap three ground squirrels, one kangaroo rat and one gopher from the veggie garden this weekend. Hopefully we will have gotten what ever is eating the bok choi.

We got half the round pen moved but ran out of oomph on Sunday around noon and took the rest of the day mostly off. Yeah, I still had to finish up the laundry, do the dishes and restock dogfood but we did get to hang out for quite awhile yesterday.

I'm working on my idea for a dog kennel. It should be pretty close to free. I have no climb horse wire we took down from the front of the goat pen when we turned it into a horse pen. I have T-posts. I think Hubby can weld me a gate from angle iron from the hardware store in town and the horse wire. To keep the dogs from digging out, I have to come up with something for the flooring. Those new dogs can dig to China!

I have a house to clean and then I want to run by the stores. It is going to be hot today so I better take plenty of water.

Do you have a few with other colors like flea bitten gray or pinto or black?

There were a couple of pintos there, but none were owned by club members, so I didn't get photos of them.

Here's a flea-bitten gray.

And to make up for the lack of a pinto, here are 2 blacks. One seems a bit faded by the sun. I've read that the blacks that fade in summer have a different black gene than the ones that don't. Interesting. There are all sorts of things on the market to feed your horse in hopes of keeping his coat black (I've heard paprika works just as well), but I guess it's pointless if it's genetic.

So here's the black horse.

And this one looks a little browner. It's a Fell pony, and the announcer joked (she read my mind) that it's a miniature Friesian.

I grew up eating seafood, QRXT. I was weaned on clam chowdah and clam cakes. Lobstah is great, I love it, but it's expensive, so I don't eat it very often. Lobstah, crab, clams, shrimp, haddock, scallops...yummy !!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Cindy, my error. I stand corrected, it's the "shop vac". LOL

Jer,

My grandmother used to bring home snow crabs from the Pike Place Market in Seattle. Nom, nom! My favorite is definitely king crab but lobster is a close second. Shrimp is also very tasty. Now I am hungry.

SandySu- the fine boned black horse is very pretty.

The other black horse certainly has some feathering. I like a little bit of a shaggy leg:)

One of my favorite breeds! So pretty! I also like Fallabella (sp?)

I could look at horses all day!
