Good morning, everyone. Yesterday was busy and fun. In the morning, I went to Mariah's place to help her groom her horses. She has 2 Norwegian Fjords and a mini. The mini was a bit cautious at first about me grooming him. Mariah said he thought I might be a vet. But the horses were loose in the yard, and when he saw me grooming his pals, soon he wanted to get in on the action. I think he actually enjoyed the grooming most, once he saw what I was doing. He's a cutie, and I got quite fond of him. Of course, I've met him before, but I never really had much to do with him.

Mariah and I might ride together sometime, me on Fenia, the older mare, and Mariah on Dag, Fenia's son, who's young and green.

After that, I hurried home to make baked potato salad for Deb's party. It was a birthday party for her friend Kelly, who boards her horses there. When I got to the party, everyone was very consoling about Penny, and a few people hadn't heard yet. Donna was there. She's the one who provided a horse for me to give lessons on when I thought Penny wasn't up to it. I'm not sure if I want to continue to do that, but we'll see. The horse is still there. Donna has known Penny since practically when I bought her, and when I told her about Penny's death, I could see tears welling in her eyes.

Over the winter, I learned that Deb had broken her leg. She was taking manure out from a stall to the manure pile when she slipped and fell. She's better now, but she still walks a little stiffly. Deb also offered me horses to ride. I could ride Corky, who's the one I drew multiple portraits of, if you remember. He's elderly and arthritic, and the vet thinks short rides at a walk would be good for him. Only, he's supposed to have a light rider, and I'm not all that light. I'm not overweight or anything, but I'm no featherweight, either.

Then there's Baby, a horse Deb bought recently to do English on, since her main horse, Levi, seems better suited to Western. Since Deb broke her leg, she has scaled back her riding expectations and no longer wants to ride Baby, so he's for sale. Till then, I could ride him.

I told everyone yes, I'd ride the horses, just let me know when. So we'll see what comes of it.

Sitting down, facing forward.
moanin', Voltalytes.

I'm glad you had fun yesterday, Sandy. Riding would probably be a good idea and under any circumstances is relaxing or, at least, a lot of fun. Yes, I've ridden a few times and enjoyed it although I'm anything but an expert at it.

It was in the mid 80's here yesterday and we got some major progress accomplished outside. I kept working on the flower beds, only one larger one left to do. Mrs. Awsum started working on yard raking. We'll probably be back out there again today only it's only supposed to get into the upper 60's low 70's today.

Tritium, you mean you still haven't planted those watermelon seeds yet? I'm planning on planting next weekend here.

Sandy, your friends are understanding your love for horses and your needs. This is beautiful to see.

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

You and Mrs. Awsum are doing good on your yardwork. We couldn't plant yet due to the cold overnight lows. We still can't plant any of the warm weather stuff but, if Hubby will get the place rototilled and we get the tubing in, I can plant potatoes, peas and lettuce.

SandySu - I'm glad you had a fun day. I hope some of those offers to ride come through for you.

I just love the Fjord horse. The pony is cute, too. Thanks for the photos.

I need to brush the dogs and the horses. The goats are on their own. They are leaning into the fence and walking, leaving fur all over the wire.

I did it! I got the last of the irrigation set up done yesterday afternoon. All I have to do now is program the timers and I will be automated. This time of the year, I don't mind switching valves manually but it becomes a chore after awhile.

That's my kind of weed eater, SandySu.

The reason I am out in the yard with a hula hoe and a shovel getting rid of weeds is because the goats would eat my trees, shrubs and, their all time favorite, roses. Bad goats.

In Carson City they graze sheep on several burnt hillsides in early spring to hopefully get rid of the cheat grass. Cheat grass dries out early and then is a very real fire hazard.

:D I'm so glad that you got to be up close and personal with some horses, Sandy. Sure hope that it was cathartic for you.

So, join in the party and congratulate Terry for FOUR YEARS!!

In my rush to get a page going: I forgot to bring food. My bad. It'd be nice if y'all would bring some. She doesn't eat green stuff though unless my BF makes it.

Thanks Rave but I hate to burst your bubble. It's my 4 yr ECF anniversary. No big deal. I quit smoking just before I joined ECF so you are partially correct. ;)

Voltville was quiet yesterday. Everyone musta been at Terry's Anniversary Party. It'll be even quieter here tomorrow when ECF goes into surgery. Fingers crossed that it will go well for the upgrade.

I may have to disappear for awhile. Then again, I may not. Everything is in limbo right now. One of my sisters in Texas is in a very bad way. She's been in complete kidney failure for over two years. Now she's had a stroke. It left her with a hole in her heart that can't be repaired surgically because she's too weak. The sack that holds her heart keeps filling with fluid that has to be drained off frequently.

My other sister in Texas is going there to help take care of her, but she is completely blind. The rest of my siblings are trying to figure out how to get there. We are scattered all over the country. Personally, I can't drive that far anymore, so I may hitch a ride from a brother that lives in Ohio. IF he goes. If he doesn't, I don't know what I'll do. My BF may have to put me on a plane. I can't afford it, but we do what we have to do. It's been 24 years since I've seen my sister. It's been 27 since I've seen my other sister in Texas. It's been 8 years since I've seen two of my brothers. The remaining brother was last seen when he visited here about 3 years ago. Needless to say: A reunion is called for, but I wish that it were under different circumstances. :(

I'll do my best to keep in touch, but no promises.

I count six siblings, including you. Big family. A reunion is called for. My prayers for happiness in this situation.
