Hey guys. We got here last night but I was too tired to post. The last two days driving were very comfortable temp wise. It's been nice and cool today also. We're hoping to go look at houses tomorrow but it's iffy.

I hate typing on glass so I'm keeping this short. Will post updates as I get them. Its so good to be back here again and it's so peaceful here. :)

Yay! The whole Midwest cooled down, just to help you relax and revive! :)

I'm happy Terry arrived. I'm happy it's cooler. It's getting cooler here, too, and it was too hot for me when it was in the upper 80s, so I'm glad now it's in the upper 70s.

The Grassroots Festival is this coming weekend, and as usual, cars are lining up outside my house. They wait here overnight for the fairgrounds to open tomorrow morning.

But my big excitement this weekend is that on Saturday, I'll be a wedding photographer for the first time in my life! Wish me luck, folks.

But I'm gonna leave the shop vac to Cindycated.

Good morning, Voltians,

Have some delicious Kati Kati coffee.

I have a couple of minor projects on the list and maybe a little laundry,

Mostly, I thought I would play with my little horseys.

Then, I'm staying inside and staying cool. It was 100 degrees yesterday. That is hot!

Thanks for the coffee, Lizzie. You served it yesterday ... but I'm drinking it this morning!

In the back near the veggie garden on the farthest hose bib, we have a large manifold that runs the "North zone" that is the hedge going around the garden and all the trees near the horse/goat pens. That manifold also has the two veggie garden zones on it and the hoses for the garden the greenhouse and the animals.

The manifold is hooked to the faucet with a high pressure hose. then the manifold and then the filter, the pressure regulator and then the timers. We actually have it set up so that the veggie garden gets it's own filter and regulator since it is set up for 20PSI on the lines or less.

The North zone has 40 PSI and so has its own filter and regulator.

This shows the portion of the manifold for the North zone. The manifold is set up with individual turn off valves. Right now the valve is off since it is the veggie garden's time to be watered. It will be turned on when it is time to water the North zone.

The 3/4 inch mainline tubing travels about 40 feet to this brand new "T" I just installed. The tubing going to the left is the tubing I hooked up to water the Far North zone. You can see one of the in line valves I installed to turn off the North Zone. That means I am watering the Far North zone.

http://

The Far North zone has its own valve on its line that is turned off when I want to water the North Zone.

I have timers coming for each zone.

I have more timers coming next week and most of the zones will have their own full flow timer at that point. I may be one short. If I am, I will probably order one more:)

 Viewing these pictures and reading the descriptions, I am ever so grateful that rain is abundant here and the soil is able to retain it!!

Yay! The whole Midwest cooled down, just to help you relax and revive! :)

Our cool down is starting to lift. Now it's beginning to warm up again. Hope it won't get too hot.

Stole the happy apple!!! Cracks me up every time I look at it.

Time to say good night. Another photo from my walk. Is it a butterfly or a moth? I can't quite see. Looks like a moth, I think.

Well, both butterflies and moths are lepidoptera, but this falls into a special category of butterflies called skippers. There are lots of different ones. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what this skipper is but I think it's the silver spotted skipper.

We're still waiting for a call from a realtor that seems to move in slow motion. If he hasn't called by noon, we're thinking that we may contact a different realtor to view other properties that we have on the list. Terry's only here for a limited time, and we have to make the best of it. I loathe waiting for other people to get moving. This one seriously needs some Geritol! His office assistant is even worse.

Yesterday morning, we went down to the creek for a short while. Her BF panned for gold and found some! However, I have been informed that I shouldn't quit my day job. Considering that I don't have a job, I guess I won't be tempted to do so. The gold that he found was just teeny tiny flecks.

Wow, Rave, you're good! You got the ID right, even though you weren't sure. I Googled it to see.

Put a firecracker under that realtor's ....! Why would he be like that if he works on commission? You'd think he'd be eager for customers. I guess if he has a really desirable house, you might need to use him, but if other realtors have other nice houses to show you, maybe go with them.

I can't wait to see pictures of possibilities!

Q, your grandmother sounds like she is tough to deal with.

Terry - hope that realtor gets his .... in gear.

Raven - your place is beautiful and that is probably because there isn't enough gold there to have had the place ripped to shreds unlike some of the places in the West. You can't tell to the untrained eye but a huge swath of Northern California was completely changed by hydraulic mining.

I slept way late!!!!

Today is a rest day. I am going to relax and enjoy myself.

Oh boy, SandySu, that whole wedding pictures gig is going to be a new adventure for you.

I am going to the church this afternoon to do some cleaning. Then there is a ladies' meeting at five.

This morning, I am going to finish drafting a teddy bear pattern off of one of the first that I made. I am making teddy bears using pieces of quilt batting for the quilting group, and teddy bears out of used denim and other fabrics left over from the rummage sale for my church group. The quilting group will sell them to buy more materials for quilting, as many of our quilts go to charities. The church ladies will sell them at the fall festival. We have pillows from the rummage sale, and will stuff the animals at a stuffing-party before the fall festival.

http://nuno-runo.blogspot.com/search/label/Stuffed toy She is japanese. Her patterns are generally anatomical rather than stylized.

I am waiting for more information to use with my writing project, so that is set aside for a few days.

Did I say it was a rest day? Well, strawberries needed to be picked...summer squash as well. Trash day is tomorrow so I am organizing trash and doing some more poop patrol.

It rained just a bit last night so I decided to day was a perfect day to clean the goat pen. Love to clean when the goat o's have been rehydrated and are easier to rake up. One load done and one more wagon load to go.

It is lovely and cloudy today. one more hour of work and I am done for the day.

My biggest goal today is to get some more ejuice made:) Later, after my lunch and my nap:)

Tutoring report.

I tutored the 2 new boys yesterday. I'm not tutoring the original kids this week because the boy had his tonsils out on Tuesday. But the girl and her mom were visiting the 2 new boys when I arrived to tutor.

First the older one. That's simple. The older one always goes first, so there's no argument like with the other kids. He did his fill-in-the-blanks and a sheet on comparatives and superlatives (big/bigger/biggest). Neither boy wrote what I asked, though the older one tried. I could tell he copied something, since the vocab wasn't what he would use. In fact, I bet he didn't even know what some of the words meant. I told him I want him to write without looking at anything. He said it's hard, but I reminded him that he's quite chatty, lots of words when we're together, so all those words can just be written down. I said the writing can be about anything, just pretend he's talking to me and write it down. Let's see what he has tomorrow.

Then we read the end of the book on Bugatti cars. I am already learning more about race cars than I ever thought existed. The boy gets so excited over things like a 250 liter engine (making that number up) and all those specs that go right over my head! I was more interested in the fact that one of the Bugatti family died testing one of their cars, just like Bruce McLaren, who I researched for the boy but we haven't gotten to read yet. It seems designing and testing cars at high speeds is not a safe occupation! Also the original Mr. Bugatti (his name begins with an E, but I forget it now) also designed high-speed trains. OK, you can see that I'm taking in more info on this subject than I ever thought of. The boy's obsession with race cars parallels my own with horses at about that age, so I'm certainly sympathetic, and I probably bored people to tears with exciting (to me) trivia about horses. This is my karma coming back to bite me.

Then the younger boy. He's distressed that the fill-in-the-blanks sheets are piling up faster than we can do them. I told him not to worry about it, we'd just do 2 each time, but I can tell having stuff left over bothers him. He is very diligent and works hard, but I get a weird feeling he's just humoring us all. It's as if he's an old soul and realizes all this fuss over learning English is just a momentary blip in the huge scheme of things. Still, he plays the game very well, trying extra hard to be a good student.

He didn't write anything. He is at a loss because he doesn't know how to spell stuff. I told him to just sound it out and do the best he can. We practiced with the word "story." He sounded it out and got "store," which I said is close enough that we'd be able to figure out what he meant. It's a real hump to get kids over having to do everything right to get them to just create, and not worry about mistakes.
We did work sheets on contractions, and then I said our lesson was over, but he asked for just 2 more sheets to do, so I agreed. We had hardly started when he said he had to go to the bathroom. He was gone a long time. I think he didn't really want to do those last 2 sheets and was hiding out. So why did he ask to do them? We'll have to discuss this tomorrow. He did the same thing before. If he doesn't want to do them, then he shouldn't ask for them.
