Terry, Congrats! I'm sending vibes that all the paperwork goes smoothly and isn't too much of a headache. When do we get to see pictures?

Thanks Sandy. Rave will send a link to the listing pics when the loan has been approved. Until then it's not a done deal. I don't foresee a problem but a have be approved for the FHA assistance program before we can really celebrate.

I believe that is a bee balm.

Terry - I am rooting for you!

Lots of driving today to pick up dog med, 0ne, ten foot 2x4 and two dog houses. I bet I drove 110 miles:)

Making sure that all is buttoned up with the critters and then I am watching the Tour de France. Hubby is already on the couch and will call me in to see anything big going on.

Big cleaning job tomorrow but I think I am well organized and can get out of the house early.

I got back from mom's house yesterday and needed a little recovery time. I will have to go back mid-September to watch Gramma again while my mom and brother go on a cruise. Mom took all of us on at a time on a cruise but my brother so it is finally his turn.
I might have to go again if the lady who usually cares for her during the day has her neck surgery. I would have to stay there for six weeks. But I would get paid for it so that is a plus.

Terry I have my fingers crossed that all your stuff gets approved. :)

Must feel good to be home, Celt. How is Gramma? Did she wear you down and get some sugary goodies from you:) Six weeks is a long time. Hope the caretaker lady will be okay.

I am on pins and needles. Terry.

Sorry to hear you are getting the heat, SandySu. We actually cooled off and had a decent day yesterday because of the clouds. The temp is going back up in a few days but they are claiming that it will be around 90 today and tomorrow.

I got my timers but now I am waiting on my adapters. You will appreciate this, awsum. I need a female hose thread to male pipe thread adapter and then I need a male pipe thread to male hose thread adapter on the other end of these timer, filter, pressure regulator assemblies. It ends up seeming awful complicated.

Zero, sorry to hear your thumb is bothering you again. Is that arthritis?

Have some coffee peeps. I've got that delicious Kati Kati coffee this morning.

Gotta feed some critters, feed me, double check my gear and get out of here early today.

Yeah. The quilting club ladies say it will just encourage me to get more balance in my life. LOL!

I think the caulk in my shower stall has cured enough to use it.

I went to the city yesterday to fine-tune my HA's. I am getting more and more dependent on them. I need to expose myself to more language-related tasks. Listened to NPR while driving yesterday. Removed CC from TV, and I am going to set my clock-radio at home to NPR.

So, is it hard to use your hearing more? Do you use sign language and/or do lip reading? The guy next door to Grandma's house used to pantomime or get out a notebook to talk to us kids...Sal...he was quite the artist. He was very deaf.

Coffee's ready!! Terry and company have already gotten some, and I'm about ready to go for a cup. I could sure use it. Seems I'm operating on quite a sleep deficit. After Terry heads back West, I have a feeling that I'll sleep for a week. It's all her fault. We have this insane tendency to gab away and forget how late it's getting. But then, I usually wake up at the same time in the morning.

Good to hear from you, Celti! :)

Hope you don't have too much difficulty with the cleaning job today, Lizzie.

Gorgeous bee balm, Sandy. That's a monarda didyma. I spotted a monarda fistulosa in a meadow next to my driveway. Same thing except purple. I think I'll go out and tag it, then transplant it this fall.

Hummingbirds go crazy over anything in the bee balm family but particularly love the red. Big shocker.

No, not hard. Just takes more concentration-- remember the LACE link I posted a week or so ago? The old adage-- "If you don't use it, you lose it." If you don't use aided hearing, you lose the ability to process it. Same thing with keeping up with progressive loss. Processing ability can be regained, but it takes work. That is the reason why people need to get HA's early, and if they try to compromise with just one, then the brain gets used to processing sound with one.

Lipreading helps partial loss a lot, but I am finding it gets difficult unaided. REALLY takes a lot of concentration for those with loss more severe than mine.

The technology has changed immensely. When we were kids, HA's amplified all sounds. Now, they can be tuned to fit the frequencies, higher-end HA's have more bands so can be tuned finer. If the person has dead zones, that sound can be moved down or up-- distorted, but the brain can learn to process it.

Sunday talking with Uncle, my telephone equipment that I use on long or important calls was low in batteries, so I had to listen with with just one ear. It went pretty well.

Is that bee balm in a fairly wet spot? I've been trying to get some bee balm going here but so far no luck.

Hmm - they like a fairly moist soil and at least partly shady. At least, that has been my personal experience. Can't say what the general guidelines are.

Wellll, I just saw Terry wave goodbye in my surveillance camera on their way out the driveway heading back to Washington. Ah well. When she comes back, she'll be back to stay. At least, that's the most likely scenario. I'm refusing to accept any other circumstances. :D

She talked with her lender this morning, and there is nothing else that she will have to do "in person". It's all up to the lender now and Terry was given the go-ahead to travel home. My work here is done.

Be it known: When I set out to do something, I by-gosh DO IT!

    Now for other news:

Within the next few days, I'll be staying with my BF at a hospital. He has to have three tumors removed. One of them has been biopsied as cancerous. He suffers from an extremely rare disease called tumor-induced osteomalacia. The tumor that was biopsied was an osteosarcoma. It's a cancer, but is far from a "typical" cancer. Rough to explain. My BF's endocrinologist told him that there are about one hundred people in the world currently that have diagnosed tumor-induced osteomalacia. There may be many others that exist that haven't been diagnosed because it's so rare. Why can't anything be simple?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumor-induced_osteomalacia

At any rate, he's going to have the tumors resectioned and then they will look for more. That's tricky because they are very small and difficult to find. It'll be easy-squeezee unless the tumors have attached to bone. That's when it gets difficult. He already had to have a large portion of one eye socket removed with the last one that was removed.

I'll keep Terry informed as much as I can (she'll be on the road), but I doubt that I'll be able to get on Voltville.

    *sigh*
