How are your sugarbabies doing? You haven't talked much about them lately.

Oh, they're doing fine. They seem to have finally recovered from the death of their matriarch. It was traumatic to them. Generally, they don't trust anyone but me, but my BF has them trained now. All he has to do is go up to them with the jar of yoggie drops (little chocolate chip-sized drops of yogurt treats) and they line up begging. I've stopped giving them to them entirely and let him be the provider of treats. Now they come running. It was a bit disconcerting to him that occasionally one will hold onto his finger while eating its treat with the other hand. It's like: "I'm not gonna let go of you because I know you have more and I want them ALL!" Their nails are like needles and it's not very comfortable.

Boy that was a headache, i tought i have to go to a hospital. The whole back of my head and back of the neck. Took 3 painkillers 2 times biofreeze on the neck.
wth was that.. Whole day couldn't move.

btw here is a nice pic i found, it's leonidas the statue is at the hot gates as you call them. And here is a smaller one.
ΜΩΛΟΝ ΛΑΒΕ below means (poorly translated) "come and get them" :D :D I like this statue, the position is amazing.

Thank you all, your thoughts are enough to make me happier.

The statues are beautiful, Tritium! Thank you for sharing them.

I'm worried about you ...

Not in every case. There's a horse supplement company I deal with named SmartPak that excels in customer service. I phone them to order something and don't have long to wait for a real person who discusses supplements with me (unless I'm in a hurry, and they have some magical way of knowing whether or not the customer wants to chat). They always have a friendly tone of voice and the shipping is prompt with lots of reminders by email telling you of the progress of your order. Their prices aren't the cheapest, but they're fairly competitive, too. I'd highly recommend this company to anyone who is fed up with the customer service at other companies.

And everyone always says how good Smokeless Image's customer service is, too. We can't forget our hosts in Voltville.

SI's customer service has always been top notch for me too. As have their products. It's a shame that more companies don't duplicate their standards. :(

The AppStore is a weird little thing that Apple did. Seems that even just updates have to come from there now. Freaked me out a little at first - I didn't wanna have to pay for updates, for cryin' out loud!

You shouldn't have to pay for updates! That's crazy! :glare:

We just got done clearing the slush. It's 50 outside and the deck is steaming as the water evaporates from it. The snow was so wet that the snow blower couldn't "blow" it. I used the snow blower as a plow and pushed the crap instead. A little crude, but fairly effective. I keep thinking about making a three foot plow for it so it can do double duty. I may have to put that plan into action. I hope the sun and warmth do the trick or there will be a skating rink where our driveway is by tomorrow morning.

I'm sorry that you and the missus are having to deal with all of that. :(

Saw the news you have a lot of cold there. Hope you are all warm.

Well, I'm warm today. It rose above freezing for the first time since the day we did deforestation. I think. CRS.

Generally I start the morning with a cup of coffee in front of my computer - just catching up. This morning, I heard a noise on one of the surveillance monitors and took a look at the driveway. There was a deer standing there. And then another. And another. Eventually, there were a dozen deer all milling around in the driveway. I don't know why. There's nothing to eat there. I guess maybe they were enjoying it because my son had plowed all 700' of it virtually free of snow. By the way, when he did that, he plowed into an area where we don't drive or walk and sliced through one of my portable camera wires. I don't bury that one because I like to move it around. Now, it's dead as a doornail. Anyhow - the deer walked up to and past the camera to where I could watch them from my windows. They are bold at this time of year because browse is getting scarce farther away from the house. It was so fun watching them that I was giggling. A couple of the yearlings were being frisky and kicking up like colts. Great way to start the day.

I went out later and walked through the forest in the snow to see all of the tracks. Deer tracks everywhere. It looks like everyone else other than the squirrels and a few bunnies are holed up and not coming out. No sign of turkeys. I collected the SD cards from my Trail Cams and was a bit disappointed. Not much of anything. One camera kept going off when shadows moved across the area. I repositioned it. I moved another because it wasn't getting any action. So ... I spent most of the day in the woods because it was sunny and barely below freezing. It was actually quite comfortable as long as I was hiking around.

My son had a bit of a bad day. His fiance is visiting home in Illinois, so he was working on the house alone. For the first time in this whole process, he shot himself with the nail gun in the hand. He came back home and washed it out and waited for it quit bleeding, then went back out. Believe it or not, he sneezed and shot himself again! It was in the same hand. We're thinking that he may have nicked a bone. Now ... most folks maintain that I am stubborn. I prefer to think of it as "independent "and maybe even "dauntless". But, my son has me beat. After he got past the shockiness in his body with the associated sweats and nausea, he went right back out there. He's still working on it now. Unbelievable! I woulda called it a day. Just sayin'.

Hi, all.

It's in the 20s here today, but it's going down to 0 tonight.

I went to the barn early for the guy to trim Penny's hooves. She was good, as usual.

Then I tutored. During the lessons, the word "mosaic" popped up, and the kids didn't know what that was, so next time, they'll read about mosaics and then make one out of colored paper glued onto cardboard for their homework. I figure that's a fun way to teach a vocabulary word. Of course, tomorrow, when I teach them again, we'll work on grammar and vocabulary (besides the word "mosaic").

So, with my new, updated computer, I've been trying to do what I usually do: amass into from the Internet that I copy and paste into a MS Word page. It's a lot harder than it was, not that Word ever worked consistently. In fact, every time I try it now, Word freezes up and I have to force quit. Groan! I have something else to figure out now!

As for the Apps Store, I downloaded 2 other games, one of which was free. Cindy, are you sure you have to pay for upgrades, or are the downloads free? I thought they were free, even if you get them at the Apps Store, but I'm very new at this, and I might be wrong.

Eeek! Rave! Your son should go to the doctor! I assume they are puncture wounds, and that probably means they'll get infected. It sounds serious, not a case where you shrug and go back to work. Can you convince him to get medical care?

I loved your description of the deer frolicking in the driveway. I haven't seen many lately. I guess they are holed up somewhere, trying to keep warm. I haven't even heard coyotes howl at night. I never hear them in cold weather, only when it's a milder than usual evening, so I've often wondered what they do when it's cold.

Well, he hasn't had a tetnus shot recently, but these are new nails. I offered to take him to the hospital, but he wouldn't hear of it. Stubborn. We washed the wounds with peroxide and he has some antibiotics that he'll be taking. I guess we'll just see what happens.

Nope, they're free. :) Just didn't like having to sign up at a store to get them.

If you're just looking for something to quickly dump copied text into, try TextEdit (free, comes with OSX).

Whenever MS Office crashes like that for me, it's usually a corrupted font cache file that needs to get deleted. You can do that manually, but it's easier to use an app. I use Linotype FontExplorer X (I have a lot of fonts that I need to turn on and off at will) and it comes with tools to do that (new Pro version is pay only, but legacy version 1.2.3 is still free - you just have to hunt it down). There's also FontNuke that's just the tool to delete caches (may be easier for you), but I've never actually tried that one.

I think he should get a tetanus shot ASAP. It's not whether the nails are new or not. I think tetanus can be in the soil, and if his hands weren't immaculate ...

I want to put pictures from the Internet in, too. I finally got Word to work. It's just cranky and stubborn.

Thanks for the advice about what to do, but any of that sounds too complex for me. I think I'll just limp along. One thing I might try is putting all the text into TextEdit and then put that into Word. I think I've done that before when I had trouble.

I just finished preparing the work for the kids for tomorrow. Now to go play a game or 2 and then eat some dinner soon.

Rave, tell you son the idea is to nail the wood together, not his hands to the wood. Holy crap, Nailman! Now that's a bad day and a really stubborn do-it-yourselfer.

I told him "Son - there's this whole nail gun / wood relationship." I think I'm going to have to call him "Nailman" tomorrow. Thanks for the ammo!

I agree. but there's no convincing him. :glare:

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

The tetanus shot is good for about ten years, I think. I had a coworker whose sister got tetanus. That was thirty years ago and she was older than dirt:) She said it was a terrible thing to watch her sister die in the hospital from. Let's hope the kid is still protected from his last shot:)

The tetanus spores can live in the dirt for up to 40 years and is more common where there has been horses. Dogs don't get tetanus. Okay, we have exhausted my knowledge of tetanus.

Hubby has to go back to work on Wednesday. Drat! I think having him around has been kind of nice.

It is a chilly 24 degrees outside but will be back in the forties today. Looks like we are scheduled for a few colder days, a few warmer days. I just hope the cold weather encourages the trees to hold off on budding out. They are getting scary close and it is too early for that! We have more cold weather coming.

Lizzie, I wish we could have 40 degree weather! The high today is supposed to be 2º! And tonight, they predict a low of -8º. Bill told me this morning that he read in the paper that they are running out of salt for the roads. Usually, it's a very cold winter with little snow or a not-so-cold winter with more snow, but this winter has been both. It's weird when I think a day that it goes up in the mid-20s is a warm day.

We had a winter like that about 5 years ago. It snowed and then it stayed super cold for weeks. I decided I had to have a four wheel drive vehicle since I couldn't get my two wheel drive vehicle out of the driveway for over a week.

I just purchased the Magneto telescoping mod. My blue Provari is acting funny and I lost my silver Provari. Really, I can't find it and it has been about a week. I think I really lost it. And I just had the silver one worked on not long ago.

I decided to get the Magneto since it will work with my current IMR 18650 batteries and it comes in red which is easy to see if you set it down or drop it out of your pocket. The price wasn't bad either. $45 with two day priority mail shipping.

I'm getting vapemail:) Haven't bought anything in so long! Now I have the new //Eleaf Istick and a new Magneto.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Yesterday felt like summer, the 50 degrees was amazing, and really more seasonable for here this time of year. It was 32 earlier and has dropped to 27. The wind is back, again, and it's supposed to get colder for the rest of the day. When Mrs. Awsum walked Bo at last night, she said our street was solid ice. I think we may be running low on salt here, too. Given that the roads have been white with salt, almost hiding the center lines, for weeks, that wouldn't be surprising.

I've been getting mailers from Duluth Trading and have always looked at their "fire hose" pants. I got a pair for my birthday. They are really great and well worth the price. The material is what a fire hose is made from, tough, but fairly smooth and soft. They are built like a tank and very comfortable to work in, enough room to stretch without pinching or binding. If you do any kind of hard work, inside or out, try a pair. Oh yeah, they have enough pockets to carry a whole tool set as well and everything is double stitched and riveted.

Y'all are using so much salt it's affecting the price of water softner salt here lol. It went up about $2 a bag. We've got spring weather this week. Today's high is 82 with 8" of sunshine. Partly cloudy tomorrow and welcome rain by Thurs. I'm going to work outside since the temperature has exceeded my age by a few degrees. Hope everybody has a bodacious day.
