Yep - There are six of us "kids". Dad told us that when they figured out what was causing the population explosion, they took up bowling. Thank you for your good wishes. I'll let ya know what my plans are when we all get it sorted out. This is one of those rare times when I'm grateful that the young folks are living here. They can take care of the gliders and anything else if/when I have to go.

You know I'll help in any way I can. I'd even drive you there but I doubt it would cost any less than taking a plane. So sorry Rave.

That is rough, Raven. I am sorry to hear your sister is so unwell.

Remember to take good care of yourself while you are gone.

We will certainly miss having you here in Voltville.

The party was excellent. Sorry I got there so late but Hubby wanted to go get some wood. Some guy has a huge grove of Russian olive trees. H is trying to make a fire break around his shed. Honestly, it is so much work and the branches are thorny, I don't know that it is really worth the effort. We were gone all day and worked our butts off for one pick up load of firewood.

Rave, if it were me, I would be planning to go and get there any way I can, even if I end up having to owe someone. I think, if heaven forbid it should go the way we're hoping it doesn't, I would want a chance to spend some time and say goodbye. Sometimes it's for you, sometimes it's for them. When my brother was dying, he felt really uneasy about never having apologized to me for something he did when we were kids, even though he saw how it was affecting me. He couldn't speak anymore by the time I got to the hospital - we just looked at each other and I knew - but when I put his mind at ease and told him I had forgiven him a long time ago, he squeezed my hand and cried tears of relief. I was really glad that I was able to do that for him. I think I would still be feeling regret if I had missed that chance, as I would be if I had missed out on spending time with my dad. You may not have that kind of drama with your sis, but it's always nice to tie up any loose ends, right? Just sayin'. You're in my thoughts...

Oh Cindy. Thank you for sharing that story. I really appreciate that. Things are a little different in my family. We are all reclusive by nature or we wouldn't have gone so long without seeing each other. I just talked to my sister's husband. He said that all of us coming out to see her may actually affect her adversely. It would give her the idea that we all think that she's dying. And then, she may stop fighting. He doesn't think it's a good idea for us to converge on her. I also talked with her. In spite of the fact that the stroke has messed up her speech, she seems upbeat. Tired, but upbeat. And she assures me that she's getting the best care possible. There's really no reason for us to come out.

But - I'd already decided, after listening to my BF and Terry and the kids, that it could be detrimental for me to go out there. Stress is the number one factor that can bring on an MS exacerbation. It is what has brought on the "MS hug" in the past. What it does is cause the intercostal muscles that support the rib cage to go into a non-stop spasm. If it is bad enough, it can cut off your breathing and actually kill you. The number two factor that can cause an exacerbation is heat. It's definitely pretty darned hot along the Gulf of Mexico. I was so intent on going to see my sister that I was willing to risk it, but I've been brought to see that my sister wouldn't want for me to take that risk. I have to consider my own kids, my BF, and my closest friends before I do something that could cause so much harm. So ... I'm not going. And my sister agrees that I shouldn't come out. She was an RN and knows a lot about MS. I still feel terrible about the whole thing. :(

I agree with what cindy said in most cases but not in your case. You've made the right decision. :)

Then yes, STAY HOME! No need to fee bad - she knows, and you know, that you would if you could - just keep the communication going. Good to hear that she's upbeat.

You've made the right decision. :)

ABSOLUTELY HAVE ! ! !

Also - Since "You" have the ability having a Computer/Tablet, if "Your" sister has something to also connect to the Internet - "You" could possibly "See" one another via "Skype" or even using a phone with "Google" Talk or Apple's AppleTalk too . . . Just a Thought . . . ;)
(Hope I got those right . . .)

SO! What is everyone going to do with all of that extra time when we can't spend it on ECF? :?:

Actually do some work that I have been let go to the wayside and by procrastinating . . . Also - Maybe take some time to check FB (which I haven't done in quite some time) and even check-in with some of "My" ECF Friends via their FB pages . . .

Sitting down, facing forward.
moanin', Voltatics.

I beat the down time for ECF. Today will be Costco day along with other errands. If I have time, I'll be working in the basement, showers this afternoon, on either the Bilco door enclosure or the "super auto". I did try drilling out the air holes in a 78mm and even added two more air holes. That resulted in a 78mm I can do a lung inhale from and produces plumes with a CE3. I think just drilling them out to 1mm and leaving them at two holes is the best improvement for a 78mm auto though. I need to find an enclosure for the battery for the "super auto" though. I have battery sleds but an enclosure would be great for a belt clip and safety.

Great ideas!! Thanks, Uncle.

I've not been on FB in awhile either. Ah well ...

Spend time wishing I had the $$$ to rebuild my pc.... :(

Sorry Celti. That stinks. :(

Sucks, huh? Whoever said "money doesn't buy happiness" HAD SOME! :grr:
I'm broke too. :(

Ya got that right!!! So easy to say if you aren't just barely getting by.

I think I may have beat the down time too. Have fun working on whatever you get to work on today. Here's hoping for cloud-producing progress. :)

Over and out, Voltville!
