Except the IRS doesn't pass away from lack of funds:)

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

I've been out to survey the yard and it is a lovely, cloudy day. It rained about a quarter of an inch yesterday. We got lucky. The big chunk of rain clouds came right over us. Looked like Carson City and Reno didn't get any rain at all.

We were working on installing the shade cover yesterday. We [meaning Hubby] leveled the area. We carried the last of the metal framework sections into the backyard. Then, we figured out that the side sections were made improperly. Dang!!!!!

Hubby and I were thinking about how hard it would be to get the section back to Fallon to get it fixed. It is ten feet tall and ten feet wide so we would have to try to tie it upright in the back of the Chevy long bed. That would be easier said than done. Then, Hubby came up with a plan. We call the guy and just get two pieces of pipe that are the right length and Hubby welds them into the metal frame work himself. Brilliant!

Of course, this does delay getting the shade cover up but what can you do?

I've been putting off buying the 2x6 wood for the cross beams until the frame is up. However, next weekend is Memorial Day weekend already. That means I will want to pick up the supplies this week so we don't have to brave the home improvement zoo on a holiday.

Evie, that is such a cute darling little baby. I hope she is doing well.

When I tutored today, the girl asked about vampire bats. She said her brother told her they were in the school basement. I told her there might be bats, but vampire bats live in South America, and the kind around here eat insects, so they are helpful. Then I asked her if she wanted to read about vampire bats, and she said yes, so I found out some interesting info. Actually, they are in South America, Central America, and Mexico. And from the little map, it looks like they might be in the very southern parts of Texas. But they don't come this far north. There was lots of other interesting info, too, like they don't suck blood, they bite their prey and then lap up the blood that flows out of the wound. And they are smaller than I thought. Very much tinier than the bats here, which aren't much bigger than a mouse. If they don't get their dinner of blood for 2 days, they die, so some female bats will regurgitate the blood they drank to feed friends. And they are friendly to people, too. It sounds like they'd make good pets if they didn't need constant blood!
Vampire bats are very interesting! I researched them a few years ago out of curiosity. The lapping of the blood rather than sucking was a surprise, because so many people believe they suck blood. Thry are so tiny...almost adorable! I did not know the females regurgitated to save others. That is just too sweet :) Bats are very helpful! I tend to get nervous when they swoop around me multiple times right before dark getting the bugs....because I think about that chance of it getting tangled in my hair! Haha Since I am not the biggest fan of bugs (I am guilty of slapping myself a few times in the face throughout my life, because I thought there was a spider on me after walking through a spider web....lol) I really like bats ;)

That's true Lizzie, but only confirms that the IRS, like any Governmental entity, can't die and can't be killed, just like a vampire.

Can't you drive a stake through a vampire's heart to kill it? That's what I thought I heard.

Bugs bug me, too, Ducklady.

Do you have ducks?
I am not a bug person!! Grandaddy Longleggers are the worst! Lol

I love ducks! I only have 1 duck right now, but I have had ducks for about 3 or 4 years now. Something always gets them throughout the years :( They are so hard to keep safe unless penned up, and I will not permanently keep my ducks in a pen. They like being free during the day :) Predators love them :(

    Welcome Ducklady, I'm Celti :)

I love ducks too! A few years ago we had about 5 or 6 layers. (I'm a big fan of duck eggs too! yum ;) ) But our duck were victims of *fowl* play i.e. dogs! I hope to have more ducks in the future for the sheer awesomeness of ducks and for eggs. :)

    Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Hubby got the dishwasher out yesterday and he thinks he can order parts to repair it. Did I mention the dishwasher broke?

We talked with Larry and he is getting us two pipes cut for the shade cover. We need to drive to Fallon to pick those up.

Hubby wants to go to Stagecoach to cut firewood.

I am resting up as much as possible today.

    moanin', Voltanoties.

Ducklady, you'll fit right in with us miscreants.

I'm leaving a mark in the carpet when I walk today, my .... is dragging and I don't know why. Yesterday was kind of an "off" day for me. I had a scheduled 25,000 mile check-up at the medicine man's office in the middle of the morning so that killed my morning pretty well. It was 85 here when I left to go there and when I got there, Trenton, say 25 miles north, it wasn't even 70 and was cloudy and kind of nasty.

When I got back home, just after noon, it was down to 78 here and kept dropping all afternoon. By five it was 66, weird day weather wise. It was a "backdoor" cold front with a marine layer so it got kind of misty as well. Everything was damp but no real rain. It's still a little misty and cool again this morning so I'm going to modify an RBA for improved airflow.

    Good morning, Voltiniacs.

I have my second cup of coffee brewing and I am just waiting to get out the door to clean a house.

I'm missing one of my PV's. Hate when I do that. I had it in the car in Fallon and I am sure it was there on the way home. So, where did it go? I am sure it will turn up.

    moanin', Voltatics.

Missing PVs are a real pain. I'm pretty careful with them, but usually manage to put a cig-a-like down somewhere where I don't normally put them down, then wander around the house looking for it. I have six I use in rotation and I'm a stickler for keeping that rotation. The bigger stuff, boxes and tubes, are much harder to lose, LOL.

I am so not that organized, awsum, but I do make sure that I have all of my PV's several times a day:) I look to make sure I have them all when I leave somewhere. When I finish cleaning today I will make sure I have my phone, my tablet and however many PV's I started with. I really like the Istick Eleaf since it fits in a pocket nicely.

The one I lost is a blue Provari. At least it isn't the one I had repaired:)

The dishwasher project is on hold while parts get delivered. At least Hubby is handy.

The dishwasher project plus having to go get the pipes for the shade cover put the whole schedule in disarray. I told Hubby we need to finish the armoire and the shade cover this next weekend [Sunday, Monday, Tuesday for Hubby].

I also need to wrap up the irrigation projects. I have a few loose ends on the stuff that is done. Also, one zone that I have to roll out several half inch lines for and put in a bunch of T's and J's for each plant.

We decided to eliminate the poplars from near the veggie garden. The roots are shooting out well over twenty feet to steal water and come up in the veggie garden. I am whacking the branches off and feeding them to the goats. then we are going to put some poison on the well trimmed trees and see if we can kill them. I will replace them with some much tamer Austrian pines.

Glad the dishwasher just needed some parts and handy hands, LOL.

My trick for trees, smaller ones anyway, is to cut them down to a six inch stump, drill a couple of 1/2" or 3/4" holes as deeply into the stumps as I can, then fill with Drano. It only takes about six months and the stump will come out with minimal effort.

I like the iSticks, too, but have really gotten to like the Mini Invader. That's a little bigger and a lot heavier, but has temperature control as well. Even with all these higher powered devices, the good old 78mm autos get used daily. Thankfully, I can rebuild the CE3s I use on them!
