Hello, Jer. Nice to see you.

We stopped by a bay that used to have an oyster farm in it. The yellow flowers were neat. The yellow flowers were elsewhere all the way up the cost, as well.

We drove up Tomales Bay. I should say, down the west side, around the end and across the San Andreas Fault line and up the east side. We stopped at somewhere famous for oysters but it was super pricey and Hubby wanted fried oysters which they didn't have. Up the coast we went.

In one town we saw this incredible Victorian home.

I am working on my wicker furniture project this morning. Crystal is coming over to play my little pony and pick veggies but I don't have much time so we shall see what we manage to do.

I have to head to Carson City for hay and Costco and to drop veggies off to the in-laws.

Then, I broke a tooth a couple of weeks ago. I had my teeth cleaning/x-rays appointment yesterday and, of course, once they looked at the tooth, they determined that I need a crown. They are going to start that today.

Hubby got my fly fans over the doors yesterday. Today we shall see if they make a difference on the flies that get into the house.

moanin', Voltatics.

Nice photos, Lizzie. Looks like a fun trip!

It's been hot here again, or is that still? Yesterday I only put a shirt on for dinner even with the AC running in the house. The same kind of day today. I'm on my way out to do some weeding before it gets furnace hot outside, then I'll be working on my low tank TC mod in the basement. It's almost done, finally, and has been a real learning experience for me.

Jerrys, I meant to tell you that ECF/Voltville are like the Hotel California, you can check in, but you can never leave.

I only managed an hour and a half out there before I wilted. Even the sweatband couldn't keep up but I did get my vitamin D for the day anyway. I'll still take this over freezing cold.

I'm kinda torn between the freezing cold and the sweltering heat. I can't decide which is worse. :(

Saturday I got myself supersweaty in 90 deg. riding bicycles in the process of choosing one. I went home, showered, and went to an outside party. Everyone complained about the heat, but it didn't bother me. Who can explain that one?

Maybe you are acclimated to 90 degrees and your weren't exerting much energy at the party.

Nope. Just sat and talked. I think the earlier profuse sweat cleaned out the pores to work more effectively later.

That was suppose to read "NOT" exerting as much energy at the party. Damn keyboard.

You could be right about cleaning out your pores.

The problem with cold is wearing enough layers when it gets REALLY cold. I hate being dressed like the Michelin Man. There is a limit to how much you can take off with the heat though, neighbors might object, LOL.

Celt, I think you had acclimated yourself with the exertion from earlier combined with the cooling effect of the shower. It's kind of like when you go in the ocean or lake the first time and it feels cold. If you get out and then go back in a few minutes later it seems just fine.

Uh! Interesting documentary. Same thing exactly in Europe. Even worse in Asia-Middle east.

Wow! I never realized how bad this is. I know, Trit, that you climb towers for this kind of work. Do you have the proper safety equipment? Is it new enough not to fail? Do you always attach your safety harness, even if it takes longer to go up and down? $10 an hour is really low pay for a dangerous job. I think garbage collectors must make more than that.* Maybe if they unionized, might it help? Though unions often don't do enough enforcing and union dues are just one more bill the workers have to pay. It's a scary problem I wasn't aware of till now. Thanks for letting us know about this.

*Well, maybe not. The pay scale for sanitation workers seems comparable or a little below. See Sanitation Worker Salary (United States) But I bet picking up trash at curbside is a lot safer.

Not sure what the difference is, but Garbage Collectors make about $17-18/hr.

It's really disgusting how little they value the lives of these poor desperate guys that are already struggling in this economy. What are their families supposed to do now? As strict as OSHA was with me when I had my printing shop, I'm really surprised that they just turn a blind eye and let this happen.

Your nearest hydrogen bomb.
LOL Bless you Sandy you made me laugh a lot.
Try more like 20$ per day (wich is 8-10-15 hours) if you are lucky. If i was getting 10$ per hour i would be a king.
No, i free climb getting up or down, i think i have a better fall arrester like this one :
Self_retracting_fall_arrester_DBI-SALA_P-6AR_KD16AR1_350x350.jpg

Let's you move a few meters on the spot (it's like an automotive seatbelt retracting etc but stops in sudden moves and has a damper)
And the usual work positioning ropes and devices which can hold tonnes.
There are no unions in this job and there will never be ones.
