Ouch!

Other tobacco Products.—Any product not otherwise described under this section that has been determined to be a tobacco product by the Food and Drug Administration through its authorities under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act shall be taxed at a level of tax equivalent to the tax rate for cigarettes on an estimated per use basis as determined by the Secretary.”.

That's pretty much anything vape-related. Imagine what the tax on a liter of nic base will be if they tax it "at a level equivalent to the tax rate for cigarettes on a per use basis.

Well, Boxer is gone, Harris is too busy running for president, but Durbin will most certainly co-sponsor. And the other usual suspects.

I don't know, Z. Wasn't it in 2009 when the FDA started seizing ecig shipments from China? They've been at it for 10 years now. I don't see it happening any time soon, honestly. At least, not under this administration. After 2020, all bets are off, again. :-x

Let me know when it's time to sign petitions and write letters to our representatives. I have a folder with "Dear Senator" letters--all I need to do is copy and paste at this time.

Rosa can... well, I have a few suggestions, but I don't want to aggravate our moderating staff. :D

I look at Countries like Canada and England and New Zealand and Australia.

They seem in the Last 10 years to have evolved and see the Benefits to outweigh any Downsides of e-Cigarettes. But we're still stuck in the FUD/Mis-Information Mode of 5 Years ago.

I don't give this Bill even a good chance of Passage while the Senate has the makeup that it does. But like you said all bets are Off in 2020.

Don't worry, Z! "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else."

I hope it still holds true. ;)

But most e-cigarette users did not kick nicotine habit

Yeah? So what? Nicotine use without smoking is essentially benign.
I know, and agree, but tell that to the folks freaking over the whole Juul thing.

Nonetheless, getting off the tobacco is a good thing, and ecigs work well for that if the user is motivated.

Hence the double edge sword.

As opposed to those who are trying to quit using NRT products.

Of course it is. BTW, Nicorette and other NRT products have been approved for long-term use (by Dr. Margaret Hamburg herself) for people who need their nicotine but want to quit smoking. Apparently, nicotine is not as harmful or habit-forming when it's sold by Big Pharma. ;)

Just think what could be accomplished if we had a government that promoted the solution and actually helped people seeking help instead of helping BP.
Ok, I said it, now back to reality.
But if government actually solved problems, eventually we would no longer need them, or nearly as many of them as there are, then all those unuseful idiots would have to get real jobs. We can't have that now can we?
