III. DEFINITIONS

For purposes of this guidance, FDA intends to use the following definitions:

Cartridge-based ENDS products are a type of ENDS product that consists of, includes, or involves a cartridge or pod that holds liquid that is to be aerosolized through product use. For purposes of this definition, a cartridge or pod is any small, enclosed unit (sealed or unsealed) designed to fit within or operate as part of an electronic nicotine delivery system. 20

.
.
.
20
An example of products that would not be captured by this definition include completely self-contained, disposable products.
If I read this correctly, any 510 threaded topper could thereby be considered a cartridge.:nah:

That's tricky for me, I might be leaving the country and that just is not something I can throw in storage. My daughter could store it for me in the freezer, but she is on the opposite coast. I figure I can wait until April to decide what to do and also have hope they will leave nicotine alone.

I actually have some of my backup mods and tanks stored at my daughters, but those can be shipped or flown. A litter of nicotine may be a problem depending on the regulations.
Can't you send the money to your daughter and let her order it? That way it will be shipped directly to her. Problem solved.

:)

It's interesting that this clear distinction between pods and tanks is in line with what Trump said. It obviously can't have been tailored to match Trump's latest speech since they came out at the same time. Maybe Trump has been leaning on them to take this track for a while, or maybe the FDA came to this conclusion independently and Trump was reflecting what they were about to release. Either way they are publicly in agreement which means this policy direction might be more stable and long lasting.

If I read this correctly, any 510 threaded topper could thereby be considered a cartridge.:nah:

I agree, any tank or rda etc would fit that definition with the exception it doesn't matter if it's a 510.

JMO... But I think 510 Atomizers is what they want to Exclude.

That is the "Have it Both Ways" part. Do an Action that will be Perceived as making a Dent in Teen Use. Then Screw with the Numbers to support what you have done.

But leave 510 Stuff alone. So as Not to piss off Swing State/Single Issue voters.

Maybe that is what they are doing. If you make flavored pods unobtainable legally I'm sure there will be a drop in usage among teens. They know it's impossible to stop it. There will be illegal pods, some will put up with the inconvenience and use tanks, etc. But a drop in usage combined with the fact that they exaggerated the numbers all along would make it easy for them to produce shiny new numbers and declare victory.

And like you say, keep us grownups happy.

The problem with the patch for me was that it disperses the nicotine at an even level for the most part, unlike smoking or vaping where you get it in a short window of time. When I fly later this month I am bringing nicotine gum with me as I think it will mimic the hit of nicotine a little better...

plus I will be sneaking hits off a pod system with double the nicotine level I normally use. lol (I have the window seat and my wife and daughter have the two seats next to me, so I will stealth vape and hold it in till it's gone. lol)
I tried a competing, and stronger brand of this on a transatlantic flight. It worked, I didnt kill anybody. It gives you that almost instant gratification.

You also have to consider that both Gottlieb and Zeller have both gone on the record to say it Isn't these "Mods that use Flashlight Batteries" that are the problems when it comes to Teens.

When you hear Stuff like that in advance of some likely action, they are Usually prepping you for what is to come.

Usually.

BTW: I fixed that Last Line in your post for You.

It strikes me that we could just fill a small spray bottle/mister with our own mix and get the same result. I've had occasion to ingest a drop of eliquid here and there when vaping wasn't convenient. Thank goodness for mucous membranes!

As long as mist is OK and vapor is restricted, another workaround.

I made a nasal spray once with a saline nasal inhaler (Think Ayr, but equate brand) I got from Walmart, PG, and freebase nicotine. It worked well, and the cost was low (just the bottle of saline spray, I had all the other supplies). The drawbacks to that delivery method were sore sinus cavities, and a strong burning sensation from the nicotine. That was before Nicotine Salts were around. Maybe I should give it another try with salts, just to see what the difference is. Never hurts to have more options for times/places where I can't vape.

Talk about a DIY opportunity. IDK what you ended up paying for your alternative version, but wow.

at 13.6 mg/ml, that's right in DIY territory.

This is what I tried, the cinnamon flavor.

QuickNIC Nicotine Inhaler - QuickNIC

Each breath of QuickNIC delivers .25 mg of nicotine to your lungs. If you’re a heavy smoker or use a concentrated nicotine vaping liquid you can take more breaths.

They used HFA-134a in a nicotine inhaler. Didn't know that Albuterol Sulfate was used like this. I knew it was used in some asthma inhalers and breathing treatments. Learn something new every day.

Raise the smoking/vaping age to 21.
Ban flavored pod systems that are (allegedly) popular with youth.

Something clearly doesn't make sense there.
And yet, some of you all (vapers) applauded either one, or both of these items. I think both are designed to appease us, until the hammer is dropped on us in May 2020.

The two items are rather significant steps in the war against vaping. We vapers ought to think of both as bad, and worth fighting against. A sane person must realize that flavored pod systems will be readily available to whatever teen wants them, in the black market. Where technically teens were always vaping. So really, it is only insane/irrational people that think the minimum age of 21 is a good thing for society, and that a ban on flavors (in pod systems) will curtail teen usage. I think all such people ought to be engaged in debate and humiliated for what their insane position actually entails. Superficially, they'll come off at onset of a debate as having the lead on the issue. Any reasonable debate lasting more than 2 minutes would clearly show how idiotic it would be for society to go in that direction.

Trump and House Republicans remain our only hope. I agree that neither right now appear to be doing a whole lot, but hammer hasn't dropped yet.

Not trying to be obnoxious or anything but I hope you have up to $4000 available if caught and prosecuted. And if they want to make a statement, and the nightly news, being met by feds and escorted off the plane etc. etc.. Not worth it IMO. What's the Penalty for Using an E-Cigarette on a Plane?

People are very paranoid on seriously packed planes these days. Don't kid yourself, you will very likely be noticed by someone. Eyes are constantly roaming the cabin. Window seat or not and forget the bathrooms.

Worst case you may have someone from FAMS (air marshal) sitting nearby who notices you. Busted.

I used to fly all over the globe in my profession (30+ years). I was always in the air going here or there. Take it from someone who flew all the time - travel pre 9/11 versus post are two totally different beasts.

Good luck :)
