Well...I'm 1 who doesn't inhale the vapor into my lungs, and I've always vaped that way since I first started vaping in Nov. 2013. I definitely inhaled the smoke from every cigarette I ever smoked for 40+ years though!

It ain't happening in 99.999999999999999999789532529% of cases.

@UncleJunkle - I'm not the only person who's always vaped like that either. There are more of us on ECF, too. ;)

ETA: I didn't post to get your Congratulations. It's no big accomplishment to not inhale while vaping. It's just the way some of us have always vaped.

I've been trying to do that for a while. It's as satisfying for me as inhaling and the flavor seems better sometimes, but I just can't get into the habit. As soon as I stop thinking about it I forget and start inhaling.

There have been quite a few others, in the last 2-3 years especially, who've switched to not inhaling and have also found it just as satisfying. It seems to take some practice though, if someone has been inhaling while vaping for years. I'm not real sure if @mattiem didn't inhale since she first started vaping, or switched later, but I know that she and I have posted quite a few times about it, over the last 4-5 years or so.

My thinking is whatever gets you off stinkies is an improvement to your health. And after that, if you enjoy vaping, something to consider. I inhaled for four years and then not the last couple. Takes practice and self-reinforcement to change but only a couple weeks for me. Cheers

Inhaling is part of the addiction and pleasure for cigarette smokers. If it weren't, there would never be talk of "throat hit". You don't get throat hit unless you inhale.

Not so. One does need to draw it partly down the throat to exhale through the nose. :)

Being both an ex-cig and ex-pipe smoker, that's pretty much how I smoked, so vape the same since day one. And I do like some TH.

I will not ignore the first longitudinal study between vaping and smoking that is done correctly. I will be a part of it if asked and even then having a never smoker vape control group is gonna be hard (unless the teens keep it up, go teens.)

Until I get that I approach many studies with a DEEP and abiding skepticism.

Also I don't run around telling people how to inhale when they smoke, I am CERTAINLY not going to do so with other vapers,. You are all grown adults, do it how you want.

    Storm. Teacup. Knock it off.

Nothing wrong with puffing like a cigar or pipe - I do it with stronger flavors and whenever I have a cold or allergies. The less material I inhale the better, especially flavorings.

For people who started out DL vaping versus MTL it may seem unnatural but it's always been a useful option. A smaller puff, at somewhat higher nic, very effective.

    Different strokes for different folks!

My calculator can’t handle so many digits, but off the top of my head I think that calculated out for the current world population as a total of three people. Odds are one of the other two live within a quarter mile of her based on sheer serendipity.

When I smoked I inhaled. It has been over 8 years for me so I really don't remember whether or not I inhaled the vapor when I first started but I think I did. I decided one day that I had put my lungs through too much during the 45 years of smoking so to tried not to inhale. It was easy to just roll the vapor around in my mouth and allow it to roll out through nose and mouth. For me it is just as satisfying. To each their own and as long as it works it is the most important thing. I have always though if eventual health problems show up it will be from the massive amounts of flavorings in store bought e-liquids pulled into the lungs at the bottom of it.

Hubby is serious about vaping .... finally ... He hasn't had a smoke so far this year. He is curious about how I no longer inhale and is considering trying it. Time will tell if he will be able to stick with vaping this time. He seems pretty serious about it this time though so I am hopeful.

Well, vapor is steam (moisture) basically.
According to science, Vapor has larger molecules, than smoke.
Thus, it's harder for the lung to use than smoke.
Heard it through the grapevine
Nicotine has the same size molecules regardless of what it is in.

"Water based mist" is just factually incorrect, and the word "steam" implies water, but there is no water (although technically some people have been known to do things like cut their VG with a small amount of water instead of PG, but in most cases water is not present).

Didn't use the words "water", "mist" or "steam" sweetie.
    I said "

Thus, it's harder for the lung to break down for absorption than smoke.
Read that a long time ago... think I'll try to do some research and maybe we can figure out what they consider "vapor"
    Thanks for stirring my curiosity

Sweetie? Listen... I am happily married, so let me shut that right down before it goes any further... I am flattered, but not interested.

The person that wrote the article referred to it incorrectly as "water based mist" and call me crazy, but it seemed like you were somewhat partially defending that false claim. As far as the size of the molecules, I have not seen what the actual break down of atoms is in propelyne glycol, vegetable glycerin, nor smoke, and I highly doubt the person who wrote that article has seriously looked at the chemistry either based on some of the things he's saying.

But that is not the point, the point is nicotine absorption. The size of the vapor molecules do not really matter, it's the size of the nicotine molecules that do, and those are the same. Once that vapor droplet comes in contact with the lung tissue, the nicotine is absorbed. Nicotine can be absorbed simply by contacting the skin. The soft lung tissues that are very thin and filled with blood vessels right next to the surface will most certainly absorb the nicotine faster and more efficiently than through the skin. There is also the apples and oranges case when it comes to the actual levels of nicotine in vapor compared to smoke.
