In my local ATL paper today. Two things surprise me- the low (for now, and compared to other states) proposed tax, and I don't think I've seen other legislation that I can remember that would require a license to sell vape products. Not surprised they still refer to the vit-E acetate deaths, or more references to the teen "studies."

7% is definitely low. lowest vapor tax I've seen.

The question is, how much is that "license" going to be? If it's exorbitant, that would basically be a "tax" since product prices would have to be increased.

Still. 7% is a "bargain" lol

Not that it's a massive difference, but with the way it's worded ("on the sale of") I think that tax is on the retail price, whereas I think most other states are taxing the wholesale cost (an excise tax).

It's an excise tax. $250 first year license, annual renewals $10. Max penalty is $10K. Requires all sales to be face to face, no internet.

It doesn't say so specifically, but this makes it sound like Georgians wouldn't be able to purchase from out of state on the internet, since precedent says that sales take place in the state delivered. I guess I'd have to read 48-8-2 to see the definition.

MAN. There are VERY few things I believe I have ANY control over, and what I do with/put into my body is ONE of them.

I have to live with the consequences, including the legal ones if I get caught but HOLYGOODNESS?

If I am not in charge of my very own being, I kind of have a problem.

And yes, AS a mental health therapist, I am fully in support of suicide/assisted suicide.

I think it's awful and terrible but like, if I don't have freedom of my own BEING if I did not believe that? I am not sure I could survive without that belief.

i very much agree, anna.
without freedom over one's own body,
there can be no freedom.

i wouldn't mind a license plus training required to sell batteries.
might stop some idiots from blowing up.
How about training and a license to buy batteries? The sellers aren't the ones using the batteries incorrectly to cause the explosion.

Well, you need a license to drive a car. Why not for vaping. Learners permit would allow you to use a pod. Full license gets you to refillable tanks. Additional qualifications to do mechs and squonking and DIY.

I hope nobody up in Washington is listening to this conversation.

Like, I am fully in support of my own stupidity actually. I mean, NO ONE can make me learn calculous No ONE. I mean, I'm sure someone could teach me but even locked in a cave with the ghost of Stephen Hawking (I wonder what his real voice sounds like) he would have to make me LISTEN.

We all have our blind spots. I'm sure batteries ain't great just in general but really read a few Darwin awards books to really be impressed.

I should probably do that soon I am getting so saint like, I almost hate myself seriously.

I gave a buck to a homeless woman for her medicine (I did say, "Just because it starts with Sudafed it's not MEDICINE,") but like ,with inflation I was like,, "Do I give her FIVE?"

I don't know, the last time I gave a homeless person money I think I was in college.

I do sort of feel that the homeless aren't subject to inflation that much. Drugs... you can always buy something less pure.

The first time I offered her one free ride to the shelter via Uber (even my car has some standards, not many but she failed on ALL counts) and she turned me down.

First world problems. But, she doesn't have to pay property taxes *(and secretly I wanted to give her a 20. Maybe this is the price of my own misfortunes.)

But no, battery safety indeed shall not be forced, and when the revolution comes it will be silent but secret, like giving a homeless person money than agonizing about it, Etc.

Anna

The revolution shall be silent.... .And shut the HECK UP DUDE Anna!

I might be Jesus reborn possibly but would I even know UNTIL they shoved me on a cross and I crawled out of a cave like 3 days later? IDK.
