I find nothing from our govt is based in fact or reality. The anti vaping regs is only one, small example. I honestly feel like I live in Phonyland these days. Our leaders are off their rockers. Worse yet, so is a large and growing chunk of my fellow citizens.

My take is that the leaders are cynical rather than deluded. The only thing driving them is the desire to stay in power.

As for the unwashed masses, here's a good quote. It's a great book by the way. Right now I think we are living in one of those times he refers to. And maybe today the "subterranean world" is social media.

From Warrant for Genocide, by Norman Cohn. “A history of how the conspiracy theories that ended in fascism began in the dark, neglected corners of 19th-century Europe:”

“It is a great mistake to suppose that the only writers who matter are those whom the educated in their saner moments can take seriously. There exists a subterranean world where pathological fantasies disguised as ideas are churned out by crooks and half-educated fanatics for the benefit of the ignorant and superstitious. There are times when this underworld emerges from the depths and suddenly fascinates, captures and dominates multitudes of usually sane and responsible people.”

@UncleJunkle I Finally found that article I wanted to share with you

Smoking’s Long Decline Is Over

A few highlights that really stood out for me were:
"At the same time, some e-cigarette users turned back to combustible cigarettes because of increased e-cigarette taxes, bans on flavored vaping products and confusion about the health effects of vaping, consumers and industry officials say. "

"E-cigarette sales were booming in the fall of 2019 when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, investigating an outbreak of a mysterious lung illness, warned consumers not to use any vaping products. Sales took a nosedive. The illness later was linked to vitamin E oil in marijuana vaping products, but the public’s perception of e-cigarette safety hasn’t rebounded and neither have sales."

"Seeking to curb an uptick in underage vaping, federal legislation in 2020 raised the legal tobacco purchase age to 21 and the Food and Drug Administration took some sweet and mint-flavored e-cigarette refill cartridges off the market.
Those measures appear to have worked. In a federal survey conducted between January and March of 2020, 19.6% of high-school students said they had vaped in the past 30 days, compared with 27.5% in the same period a year earlier. But vaping also declined among adults. The number of vapers 21 years or older in the U.S. fell to 9.8 million last year from 11.8 million in 2019"

Oh no. Their mission isn't complete until they've completely done away with vaping, without outright outlawing it. A death of a thousand cuts.

And then they will turn their evil eyes to the next cause célèbre looking to exercise their power. Their mission will never be complete, they are always looking for another target over which they will impose their values while restricting the freedom of others.

Excellent quote, Mr. Mick. Times have changed little. Evil men (and women) exist today as then. We suffer from something I find somewhat disturbing. Our country not only has those whose sole goal is the exercise of power over others. We at the same time have a significant portion of our population who lives in fear and is willing to submit to authority, so long as that authority promises 'safety'. Be it safety from, in the not distant past "terror" resulting in the acceptance of the Patriot Act and clandestine courts. Or we accept the blatant lie of the teen epidemic of fatal vaping. And in present time we create the fear of a disease of somewhat questionable lethality.

It takes both the depraved heart of the crooks and fanatics as well a significant number of the ignorant and superstitious. For the underworld to emerge, capture and dominate the usually sane and responsible requires that the subterranean world to create in those sane and responsible a fear that can only be eased by the intervention of and submission to authority.

And it isn't just 'taking advantage' of the ignorant (ie the uninformed, not stupid), but the creation of ignorance through the propaganda in the curricula K-12 to doctorate.

Not to mention the creation of ignorance by the totally biased mass media.

I/we have always woken up and turned on the radio and listened to NPR. For years. And we thus always felt it appropriate to contribute to "public radio/tv".
It became transparent soon after Trump was elected that the NPR "news" became slanted to the point that it wasn't news anymore. It was get Trump.
And, I say this as being neither a Republican nor a conservative.
I emailed them about my concerns. Never a reply.

I stopped listening months ago and will never again give them any $$.

As I posted before somewhere, this has become very ominous.

When I listened to NPR, I never got a chance to donate because they would always put me to sleep within about 5 minutes.

There was a time, in the early '80's, when I listened to the university station all day. I loved it at the office. Real jazz through the day and NPR starting at 4.00PM. That ended in the mid-nineties. I have never been back. In what time I have left, NPR will not be changing. But I am so happy that I support it through my taxes.

Silence! Now pay up.

Say what is this about?

Nicotine Contents in Some Commonly Used Toothpastes and Toothpowders: A Present Scenario

Does all toothpaste contain nicotine, or just India's toothpaste?

If all toothpaste contains nicotine, this could work in our favor. Imagine the public outcry if you had to be 21 years old to purchase it. Shipping companies would have to follow the same laws as shipping vaping products. Also had to have a huge label claiming that it contains nicotine. And force the FDA to include toothbrushes as nicotine delivery devices? I bet all of this demonizing vaping would end quick. Or it could backfire and we might have to learn to live without toothpaste.

Went to Texas to meet my new grandson, power went out, using my DNA250C device to charge my phone...vaping saves lives!

almost didn’t bring this device and can’t believe I had the adapter in my car bag. Also, kinda surprised how much power two 18650s have compared to iPhones/iPads etc etc
