Well, I tried to order juul pods last night from the Pax website...

$15.99/pk best price around

Popped 4 packs in my cart, got free shipping, and prepared to pay $68 (after taxes).

Get to the final checkout screen, only to see my total is $98!!!!!!

Turns out, California now has an excise tax rate (on vapor products) of 65%...

Apparently this is the work of Prop 56...

And it feels like the type of taxation fuggery that sparked the Boston Tea Party.

I really hope our government pulls its head out of the swamp.

I mean, I know it will never happen, but I still hope.

A lot of other countries have opened their eyes to vapor products...hell, even the Prime Wizard of New Zealand reversed their ban on vapor products after he/she saw A Billion Lives.

You'd think America would want to help set the standard/example for forward thinking in the case of vapor products...but no.

Tax money must taste really good.

I gotta be honest, I never thought the US was going to lead the way in studying this issue impartially... I think we have the most third world country (in many areas of the country) that is actually portrayed as a first world country. Japan laughts at our speeds on our smartphones (their networks are incredible), much of the infrastructure is crumbling, and we're having a hard time adjusting to automation, versus jobs. I mean, look at the birth/death rate compared to some other countries, though it IS improving slowly. I live in Tucson which is really WAY down there as far as education, infrastructure (no, I'm not talking about the wall, I'm talking about the roads), and... Well, it's quite different than many other areas and in some ways, incredibly interesting.

If something is *useful* to an ex-smoker, it will either be taxed or eliminated, IMO. California is just way ahead of the curve when it comes to taxation! Interestingly, it's also gone bankrupt several times.... You can only tax something so much before you starve the thriving industry that is starting to happen. The politicans lurk around, waiting for it.... Only makes it worse. The two party system has become a joke, really. Trump said some interesting things during his "run" I have yet to see much implemented as far as healthcare reform (he said he would lower the cost of drugs and allow ones from overseas to be sold here without the FDA). Either he was a great grandstander, or he's found "politics". I wish Gary Johnson would have won.... :)

Gotta love Judicial Watch, I never regret my monthly contribution.

It is just a Sham (I mean "Shame") that someone like HHS is Unwilling to comply with a FOIA Request.

Who do they Work for? Themselves? Or on behalf of the American People?

Pax sound like they aren't charging the tax right as a lot of vendors. The tax is not on the retail price which is how the website cart system calculated it. Contact them and ..... until it's fixed. Also if pax is not in CA they shouldn't be collecting the tax at all.

Has anyone heard any more about E-liquid companies planning to pay for testing to comply with FDA PMTA's ? There are a few posts on this subject on page 818 in this tread.

I haven't.

Many thought that NJOY would. But then they ran into a problem with Red Ink.

Bottom line is the Deeming regs will kill vaping as we know it if left unchallenged.

Sadly they don't ever have to implement them, the threat of the use of their power can kill the industry without ever taking action. Rob sold REO, Provape is out of business and how many others of whom I have no knowledge. We, as vapers, are experiencing a small example of the abuse of power but the abuse is pervasive. It is everywhere.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me

We can see the effects on ECF. The traffic on this forum is down from a year or two ago.

I just cannot imagine anyone wanting to invest money in an ecig business at this time.
Wish I could remember where I saw the B&M last week with a huge banner...
