I went gray probably in my early 40's, and I never regretted it. I started getting the senior discounts w/0 asking for it, people open and hold the door for you, it's been great. Now I'm 74, walk with a cane, and slightly bent over, folks are so polite, I love it. :)
I like being old enough to be 'cute'. My daughter thinks I'm adorable!
I look at it this way...I earned each and every one of those grey hairs and every wrinkle too so I wear them proudly. Some folks seem to think long hair is for the younger generation but mine is down to my waist. I was a natural blond in my younger days but instead of all of it turning grey it is now a reddish brown (except for the grey mixed in) :D

I smoked for about 45 years, started smoking at 18 and have been smoke free for almost 6 years. Needless to say, I am no longer a spring chicken but I am not old.(sometimes my body tries to convince me otherwise but I tell it to shut up). Age is a state of mind and I refuse to act old. :D

Oops, what were we talking about.....Someone making a fool of himself. Yep, back on topic
My hair has white streaks. I love it! And, mine is just past my waist too.

I've tried shorter hair a couple times. I felt like I was in someone else's body, especially when I looked in the mirror.

Oh... how old do you have to be cute? I still get called "kid" and "youngster" by my husband who thinks he is an entire generation older than me at 56 (or some such age.. lol)..

No one thinks Im "cute" yet... :(

I'll be 61 in 8 days. To my 33 year old daughter, that's old enough to be cute. To ME, cute starts at about 75.

Oh he does not think I am cute.. that is one adjective he has never once used..

Beautiful. Check. Sexy. Check. Gorgeous. Check. Hot. Check. Threatens to hide my clothes so I cant dress. Check. Intimidating. Check. (for some reason intelligent plus beautiful equals intimidating, dont understand it) Opinionated. Check. (lol.)

Cute? Never even once.

I'll leave this at, not according to your interpretation of life as we know it.

Dont feel bad, I just had a single person give me 26 of the magic red Xs within a 5 minute period, and it looks like he is still going.

ROFLMAO....

The 10's and the DSM are different animals. I can't and won't defend the 10's. I simply say the DSM is a political and economic document, it is consensus "science". Interesting but a load of crap.

Eh, that's no different from other medical coding practices in which they're developed to try and improve the accuracy of both the diagnosis for clinical purposes as well as for data collection and analysis. Also no difference than how the RCP decided the "95% harm reduction" thing we all toss around. A collection of experts assemble and try to either establish a new baseline or clarify things to better guide choices and decisions. Can you call it a political (bunch of people voting on the final version) or economic (use for billing purposes) document? Sorta, but that's a misleading description of the document as it suggests there's no medical or scientific basis to support the findings.

If you think the DSM is bad, go check out the new ICD 10 codes (which are now required for billing of both medical and psychiatric disorders n the US). Those things are so granular that you'll find 3 codes for injuries sustained on a space station. Or the more generic injury subcoded with "struck by duck". Totally accurate if you're injured by a duck striking you, but kind of a reach for expert panels to be sitting around designing stuff like that.

Over the years I've tried to simplify things. When it comes to dealing with people I've found that the following works (for me).

1. Nice to be around.
2. OK to be around.
3. Don't be around.
4. RUN LIKE H*LL!!

As always, YMMV. ;)

My father said that he didn't care the color so long as it was there.

And, in my case anyway, that is a flat out miracle. Back in my teens and 20s my friends always said that "I defied chemistry". Even after I quit playing with chemistry I still pushed the edge. So yeah, every one of these grey hairs is bought and paid for...... and I am still around to talk about it. I am just grateful it turned grey and not "gone".
