Senator Tim Kaine is another "blowoff" kind of guy.

I wrote him several weeks ago about the ammendment they were trying to pass that would prohibit mods and ecigs on both carry-on and checked baggage. In other words you wouldnt be able to take it on the plane PERIOD.

Here is his blowoff response, judging by the non-stance of it, I can only assume my plea regarding the FDA will get a similar non-response:

Dear Mr. Petro:

Thank you for contacting me about S.Amdt.3547. I appreciate hearing from you.

With 66 public airports and 45 million annual travelers flying through Dulles and Reagan National alone, Virginia relies on a strong aviation system to move people and goods, provide jobs, and support economic activity. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is tasked with managing both an air traffic control system comprising more than 60 million aircraft and the safety of some one billion passengers who travel throughout the nation each year. While the U.S. has one of the world's safest air traffic control systems, there is a general consensus that we need to make investments to upgrade this system's aging technology.

On April 19, 2016, the Senate passed a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the FAA's activities and financing through Fiscal Year 2017. The bill authorizes overdue investments in airport infrastructure and NextGen modernization and makes critical improvements to aviation safety, including strengthened security in areas like check-in and baggage claim. It also takes steps to provide for the responsible use of unmanned aircraft systems in concert with robust safeguards for safety and privacy. I was particularly pleased to work with my colleague Senator Mark Warner to keep all amendments out of the bill that would have authorized more perimeter rule-exempt slots at Reagan National. Such amendments would have increased overcrowding at Reagan National, exacerbated noise issues in nearby communities, and damaged the economic competitiveness of Dulles Airport. S.Amdt.3547 was not adopted as part of the final bill passed by the Senate.

This bill now moves to the House of Representatives. As the process moves forward, I will be sure to keep your thoughts on this measure in mind should it come up again in future versions of the FAA bill.

Again, thank you for contacting me.

Tim Kaine

It's obvious he didn't even read your letter.

I need to give a shout out to SmokTek. For being a vendor that is taking this seriously. Just got a great email from them. Those vendors who do not take this seriously will no longer get my business. So get your heads out of the sand and realize this is a fight for your entire industry!!!!

Actually this is a good idea. I mean, for years we as a community have been saying the vendors by and large are not helping in this fight, so, now is the time to for them to step up or get trampled on and that IS something we as a community can effectively do.

How have tobacco stocks done since the announcement?

Actually, maybe it would be more relevant to look at how they started doing a while back. Anybody have a good estimate how far in advance the final rules would have been leaked to favored investors?

Did anyone else watchthe WhiteCloud Webinar with Dr. Michael Siegel today? Dr. Siegel explained the FDA Deeming very clearly and precisely so that it's easy for anyone to understand exactly what it means. I think he answered about every question in this thread.

When it is put up online, EVERYONE, vaper or not, should watch it. I think even non-vapers would be absolutely astounded at what the FDA is doing. Please share it everywhere you can. I didn't catch where or when it is going up, (a bird flew in the window just when it was mentioned and I got distracted) but I'm sure someone will provide a link.

All these reviewers need to pull their heads out of the sand and focus on this. They need to be in full advocacy mode. Rip, ohmboy, Vaping Fagan, Ruby Roo, Pete, etc. Wake up, you're all going to be out of a job very soon unless you focus on saving it. Who cares about the next piece of bling when it's all going to be gone.

not sure what you are basing this statement on as the FDA is saying otherwise.

just NO, you are incorrect, it was not done or paid for by the citizens/people of Ohio...
the petitions were done and paid for by investors to limit the commercial growth of :censored: to 10 sites owned by those investors who also paid for the ballot campaign, giving those investors exclusive rights to profiting from the growth of :censored: in Ohio.
The petitions started here are by individual vapers are nothing like that.
I would encourage you to do the research and learn the facts before spreading misinformation on a public forum.

"FDA is saying otherwise" what exactly are they going to control besides nicotine? We use food flavoring, I'm going to use Capella which is a food flavoring manufacture. VG and PG are available anywhere without prescription that won't change.

First of all when the :censored: did I spread false information? I signed the Whitehouse petition, I didn't sign the {other stuff} petition because of exactly what you just said. I said "the city" created the petition, not vapers. I also voted against issue 2 and informed others not to sing it.

Shows how effective petitions are in Washington. This is their response to the previous petition:

Following up on your petition on the tobacco regulations:

A few months back, we sent an initial response to a petition you signed on the tobacco deeming regulations. At the time, the rule in question was still under interagency review. But now, there's more to say.

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finalized a rule extending its authority to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah tobacco, and pipe tobacco, among others.

This rule will allow the FDA to improve public health and protect future generations from the dangers of tobacco use through a variety of steps, including restricting the sale of these tobacco products to minors nationwide.

Tobacco use poses a significant threat to public health and is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the U.S. today. While there has been a major decline in the use of traditional cigarettes among youth over the past decade, their use of other tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, continues to climb.

In 2015, 3 million middle and high school students were using e-cigarettes.

Prior to FDA’s actions this week, there was a big difference between the rules for the makers of traditional tobacco cigarettes and the rules for these new products.

If you were to purchase a traditional cigarette today, you would be warned about the health risks. You'd also be over the age of 18, because it is illegal to sell cigarettes to minors. These safeguards have greatly contributed to the decline in smoking. But the newer tobacco products haven't had these same safeguards in place.

The new regulations are aimed at making sure all tobacco manufacturers and retailers follow the same rules -- rules to protect children and make sure everyone can make informed decisions about their own health and the products they purchase.

So what do the new provisions say? For starters:

  • Stores will not be allowed to sell e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookah tobacco to people under 18 years of age.
  • All sales to those 26 and under will require a photo ID -- just like needing an ID for cigarettes.
  • Manufacturers will be required to place health warnings on product packages and ads.
You can read more about the new regulations and what this means for manufacturers, retailers, and our nation's health here.

These regulations mark a new chapter in the FDA's efforts to end preventable tobacco-related disease and death, ensure consumers can make informed decisions, and protect the health of America's youth from the dangers of tobacco.

Thanks again for raising your voice on this issue.

I think when enlightening people about the Final Rule and when contacting our representatives it might be worth adding this...

During the time the current regulations were being drafted, FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg allegedly used the agency to get a dangerous drug approved, even though it had serious and sometimes deadly side effects, to generate millions of dollars in illegal drug company profits for her husband’s hedge fund company.
