I do absolutely agree with you that truth carries more weight by far.

Think of this arguement tho. "Guns don't kill people. People kill people." It is an absolutely true statement. The NRA has rallied behind it. Nowhere in that message does it mention the bullet was the actual killer, or the fact that without the gun or bullet it may not have happend. Truth is different to different folks.

Its perspective that gets shaped. We can always choose a new perspective based on new information. If that new truth is more valid than our past truth (actually our past personal history) says, then perspective shifts.
You are still wrong, you have assigned the bullet as the killer, That bullet would still be nestled neatly in the chamber if THE KILLER had not operated the gun/trigger. A tool, no hammer no house. Using your line of reckoning, I have a fail safe way to end all deaths caused by drunken drivers. End production of gasoline! No gas no vehicle moving fast enough to harm anyone, a drunk can only push a car so fast. :p

That was go-o-o-od !
I'll be honest though, I felt dirty after typing it. For multiple reasons.

Not a way I personally want to win this.

What about this one.

Tight shot on a girl, no older than 8, missing at least two front teeth.
"I love vaping!"
Pull the shot out and she's on a soccer field with her dad kicking the ball towards her.
"Since my daddy stopped smoking and started vaping, he can help me practice my footwork!"

That one made me smile :D

I honestly think both ways of getting the message out are the way to go.

It hits all demographics. Those that watch the shock and awe stuff and those that are feel good watchers.

I have to admit, I am one of the feel good type people but I do see the need for the in your face type of advertising. There are those that just won't watch the feel good stuff.

Remember, more people are the kind that will rubberneck when passing by an accident. Makes them feel better about their lives.

I meant the parents of my daughter's fiance this weekend for the first time. Divorced parents so with steps four adults. All four are smokers and the only thing they knew about vaping.... I have heard these things are dangerous.... they blow up in your face.

This is what we have to deal with.... we need positive pr and lots of it. We need more celeberties to push a positive pr.

And after the elections, better prices.

Yes... Yes they Will.

But I would still Argue that the Money Needed to Film, Produce, and then Air a National Commercial would be Better Spend in Other Areas.

Not say'n I would like to see a Glossy "TV" ad. Just say'n the Bang-for-the-Buck Ratio should be Considered.

Of course we could never pull this off but.....

We need every vendor online and brick and motar to close but not just for one day but a full week.... vendors take a vacation for a week. So many vapors have zero idea what is going on.... Big notice at stores and online would wake them up

Lots of stuff kinda like that has been done, and there are good studies showing vaping has great success for smoking cessation. FDA is ignoring all that, for politcal reasons.

Another sore spot with a lot of people is that we like vaping. At some point smoking went from a health issue to a moral one. Smokers are viewed as weak and are a minority that is not only acceptable, but encouraged, to treat with distain and disrespect. How dare we find a way to quit smoking without suffering! We should be repentant and grovel for forgiveness, not find an enjoyable alternative.

Robino, that is what I assumed and I see lots of other sites with testimonials. I guess I am asking how we can get this info to the public and/or combat their misinformation. I know nothing is going to change the FDA's opinion internally, they don't care is right.

Maybe there's a way to get the Chinese companies to buy some airtime for a PSA? The PSA wouldn't be that difficult or expensive to make (coordination would be the hardest part), but it takes money to get real airtime. Youtube doesn't reach enough people.

Also, this is where a PR person could come in handy ;)

We would have to be careful with that though. There are lots of PR firms that want mega-bucks and don't do much more than persistent individuals can do. The main advantage to using a PR firm is their contacts, but I'm not sure there are any firms with substantial experience in promoting tobacco harm reduction. Having a firm send out press releases can get expensive and is very ineffective if not sent to the right people.

Within our own ranks we have writers, graphic designers, photographers, filmmakers, video editors, you name it. What we really need is a comprehensive list of people/entities that could be persuaded to give us attention.

Does anyone know how Ellen feels about harm reduction?

It can though, if it gets popular enough. I would have never known about the ice bucket challenge if my local news station hadn't run a story on it.

I keep reading that the FDA has no evidence that vaping leads to smoking cessation. Has anyone tried collecting data from users such as starting a thread on ecf, asking certain questions and putting that info into a log/chart/graph? I know CASAA is super busy right now but if we had thousands of names/contacts that can attest to their quitting tobacco, it should help in future endeavors. Would this be a good idea and if so, could someone with the skills take this on, if ecf agrees? I am no good with pie charts and all that stuff but I am certain we have folks with mad skills on this forum.

Perhaps Mt Baker and other vendors could request the info from their consumers and compile data to add to the list.

I don't know why this subforum is buried, it should be a sticky where people can find it easily.

Where did this thread go?
It used to be at the top of every sub forum, but I cont find it anywhere, now.

I only happened to have it opened in its own browser win do on my phone so I could try to keep up with reading it all. But, now, I don't think I could find it again.

It's a hassle, but you can go to your profile page, clicks on your posts and it will show the threads you've posted on. Or, click on your alerts. You will have one since I quoted you and you can click on it to get to the thread. Granted, it will take you to this post, not the latest one, but at least you'd be on the thread.
