Where did this thread go?
It used to be at the top of every sub forum, but I cont find it anywhere, now.

I only happened to have it opened in its own browser win do on my phone so I could try to keep up with reading it all. But, now, I don't think I could find it again.
Subscribe to the thread. I think they removed it from a "Read This!" status, since it would take forever to go through it all, including a lot of off topic posts, which have been very useful, IMHO.

Fade in to a funeral: scene of a distraught child - voiceover : this is bobby, bobby would have had a father if he hadn't gone back to smoking after he had successfully quit using our vapor product and then had it removed by your government. Think of the children who will be parentless due to government over-regulations. Stop over-zeller-ous regulations now. Think of bobby.

You cannot begin to know how much I love this..

Nice, but people prefer a positive message. When I hear Sarah McLaughlin come on tv, I change the channel.

We need a catchy positive message, something easy and short, old ladies, young parents, bearded men, soccer moms. Vapers are a diverse crowd, and everyone knows someone who has or could be helped by vaping.

No, I have to disagree with you on this. The reason the CDC and California are successful is because of their scare messages. People pay attention to the horror of things not so much the goody-goody things.

Just look at what makes money in the box office and on tv these days! Ugh!

I do say we need BOTH though. The positive and the not so positive.

I think Wired's suggestion is brilliant. The ANTZ are using kids against us. Time to turn the tables......

I like your post, but I'm hesistant to call many people sheep. People are busy, and their minds are cluttered with all sorts of both facts and crap fed to them, among all the necessay attention to needs, both long and short term. People have to have priorities, and thankfully, with the right knowledge, are wanting to do the right thing when aware of others in crisis. And most people HATE corruption.
You may not like people being referred to as sheep, but thats what good marketers and PR people exploit. Call it herd mentality, hive mind, whatever you like. It is easier to do than you think.

Do people care about truth? Sure, but even most people's intelligent "truth" is shaped for them by external forces. Marketers make the true independent thinkers look like cooks and outliers if thats what they need to do.

It is corrupt, even if it is actually true. Its proven to work. Thats all that matters to the side that wants to win.

I don't have the answer but I feel like there's a way we can work in the kids, and the positives without further demonizing smoking, and getting something that will go viral. Depressing doesn't go viral.

Grandma blowing a huge cloud, that would go viral.

I'm not a millennial but I'm pretty close, we tune out sad stuff because life sucks enough already.

"This child lost his parent" loses to "this child gets to grow up still having his parent"

Just another way of interpreting why certain information and misinformation campaigns work or don't work.

Do you remember the Native American crying over littering?
Shock and awe is always best. I absolutely remember that commercial. Everyone does.

How about this commercial, "I learned it from you Dad! I learned it from you!"

If you know this line from the anti drug folks then you know why shock and awe works best.

There is no place for nice and pretty messaging in an opinion war. That can come later.

Whoever has more PR wins. It costs a lot of money to do this, but coupled with gurilla marketing tactics and social media, costs can come down some. Its all "opinion shaping". The message that gets repeated the most, and the loudest always wins.
So in other words, lies and bull.... are what shapes the world?
Great, love this planet, and this species we call humans.

I remember Letterman use to have a Stupid Pet Tricks segment now and then.
I'm starting to think Stupid Human Tricks could be a hit.

Hey, here's a nifty trick!
Electronic Cigarettes are banned!!!

Presto Chango!!
