I'd be interested to talk to a teen nic vaper and discuss the effects of the nicotine when they first tried it. Cigs went right to my head. Instantly dizzy and nauseous if I smoked them too fast.
I would like for you to consider that the effect you mentioned...
Might be due to oxygen deprivation from carbon monoxide, rather than nicotine.

Joint committee then :- )
So, the next battle with moving the grandfather date, is on the House floor. If the ammendment makes it though, then it'll be the joint committee. If it makes it through that, then the Senate floor. If successful, it's the President's desk, next.

Senate Committee Advances 2017 Ag Appropriations Bill
USAgNet - 05/20/2016

The Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved the Senate version of the FY 2017 Agriculture Appropriations bill.

Following Committee passage, the legislation would now be slated for floor action sometime in the coming weeks.

The Senate is still obligated By constitution to hear the House Version of the BILL as Presented to the SENATE.

How Does the Federal Government Create a Budget?
There are five key steps in the federal budget process:

  1. The President submits a budget request to Congress
  2. The House and Senate pass budget resolutions
  3. House and Senate Appropriations subcommittees "markup" appropriations bills
  4. The House and Senate vote on appropriations bills and reconcile differences
  5. The President signs each appropriations bill and the budget becomes law

*
Step 4: The House and Senate Vote on Appropriations Bills and Reconcile Differences
The full House and Senate then debate and vote on appropriations bills from each of the 12 subcommittees.

Something to keep in mind. In 2008 when G.W. Bush was president, he was allowed to sign only three of the twelve 2009 appropriation bills before his presidency ended in January, 2009 (defense, veteran's affairs, and homeland security). Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid (House and Senate leaders) were banking on Barack Obama winning the White House so they approved running our government on continuing resolutions and opting to craft their own 2009 budget for the remaining nine appropriations knowing it would receive the support of Barack Obama. Obama signed those final nine appropriations two months after he took office. The point here is don't be surprised if a similar tactic is used this cycle. I would not be surprised if the GOP opts for operating under some continuing resolutions until the new president takes office. The negative, obviously, is our amendment could get pushed out to a later date . The positive is we could potentially see more favorable results from a friendlier president. Seeing it is Obama's FDA who wrote the regs, we know he wont take our amendment sitting down.

I saw a post somewhere, maybe here or maybe facebook, where a vape shop had provided letters, envelopes, and stamps and were collecting letters from customers to send off. I know that form letters aren't as memorable, but I thought this was a good idea to drum up letters from people who might not normally write their reps. We all might consider talking to our local shops about doing something similar.

Since the amendment is riding on the back of a budget bill and the amendment itself has nothing to do with spending, drawing fierce opposition and or debate would seem misguided and a time waster. As this bill goes through the motions, I would assume the battles would mostly be about $$. But I'm far from an expert on DC politics and I live less than 20 miles from the Capitol. I mostly try to ignore DC. lol

It's too complicated an issue and the media rarely gets the science right. Transsexuals using public restrooms is much easier to report on and seemingly of greater interest to most people. For example, earlier this week, Target announced that it would be "inclusive" in it's restroom policies. Within a few days, 1.2 million people had pledged to boycott Target stores.

That's why I said "something concise and exciting." Keep the message simple and hopefully scary.

American businesses are being shut down; people are losing their jobs. The US is being cut out of a billion dollar industry because the FDA is funded by Big Tobacco. BT wants people to smoke - do you think they care about your kids?

You must be rich. Half of the top ten wealthiest counties in the nation surround Washington DC.

Think about that folks.

What came to mind was my post about the local shop - Smoke Revolt - that had customers - nearly all - sign a letter to Representatives and Senators. There may have been others, esp. on Fakebook.

I have 4 kids with 2 in college right now. If by rich you mean bleeding copious amounts of cash like a stuck pig and driving around in a 15 year old truck with nearly 200k on the odometer then...yea, I'm loaded...lol

I live here for the public schools. Plain and simple. The second my 2 youngest graduate high school we are leaving for the country. I can't wait. I think about it all the time.
