Mostly people get along really great here...but sometimes people need to learn when to just drop it, let it go and get over it instead of acting like a gorilla thumping it's chest.

:)
Did you see that story where they had to shoot that gorilla at the Cincinnati zoo the other day?

How does one's child end up in the Gorilla habitat?

I find Zoos a little depressing
They need to charge Mommy with child endangerment.
Then sue Dad for the cost of a replacement Gorilla.

Parents who won't, need to start being held accountable.

Which question? The language for MRTP is in the original FSPTCA passed in 2009, but they didn't choose to enforce the "light" issue until 2010, and there's no mention of whether or not the tobacco companies had to submit SE applications in order to change the branding on their products.

Did FDA Force SE............Nope, in fact they reflected on the perceived necessity to Apply for SE, then Folded to BT once again :glare:

And on More current matters. HOW DID WE MISS THIS ARTICLE, 4-27-15

ZELLER "It shouldn't be a debate about e-cigs," he said. "It should be a debate about nicotine with e-cigs as the poster child of that debate."

Five Fresh Insights into Tobacco Regulation

There Never was any intention to Modify and in fact much of the Deeming Regulation work may have already been complete.:grr:

If you go to this site....

Lobbying Spending Database-Altria Group, 2016 | OpenSecrets

and look at the 2nd to last in the "Issue Field" you will see that it is...

"Issues related to e-vapor/e-cigarettes."

Cool. So Altria is Lobbying in the Fight to Save e-Cigarettes! Right?

Well... Kinda. But not really. Because when you read the Lobbying Report...

LD-2 Disclosure Form

... it is listed that the Specific Lobbying Issues are,

Issues related to the federal taxation of tobacco products.
Issues related to the corporate tax rate.

So I guess one can make the Arguments that Altria is on our side, kinda.

Here is the Lobbying Report for "Support FDA Deeming Clarification Act (H.R. 2058); Monitor S. 450 and all its provisions"

LD-2 Disclosure Form

So Yeah... OK. The Lobbying Report says they are For passage of HR2058. Also mentions they are Lobbying for "Monitor tax reform issues; Monitor S. 1562, Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act; Monitor Leahy amendment (S. Amdt. 3240) to S. 2012 re: deductibility of punitive damages."

OK. So Now the 64,000 Dollar Question. Does BT Lobbying for HR2058 (or about Anything) Help or Hurt getting Votes of Passage for HR2058 going forward?

According to an rumor, Mitch Zeller was overheard stating "If those parents were not off vaping, that child would have never climbed in, and that gorilla never would have been shot. This drives home the need to reign in this out of control c-cig market, and protect primates from avoidable harm."

No. Really. It's on the internet, so it must be true.......

It is clear this estimate gives an unfair advantage to the makers of cartridge or disposable e-cigarettes, which are what Big Tobacco companies currently have on the market.

Here in the People's Republic of Indiana they didn't even go to the trouble of crafting the rules to give an advantage to BT cigalikes. They just wrote in a clause saying that cigalikes are exempt from the new regulations.

Enough that I'll bet they'll keep an eye on their kid on the next zoo visit.

Well, I guess if keeping your child safe isn't enough motivation to keep an eye on your kid then perhaps doling out a wad of cash for a replacement gorilla would be. No?

And if that's not enough, then maybe they should be made to catch their own replacement gorilla.

So does this mean gorillas are deemed tobacco products now?

I posted a link to this before.

A 2015 article in Forbes, “Who Stands To Gain From The E-Cigarette Phenomenon?” reports:

“Altria , the maker of Marlboro cigarettes, and the leader in the U.S. tobacco industry: While the company does not have a very prominent presence in the e-cigarette market, they have taken a number of steps to leverage the opportunity present in this avenue. In February 2014, Altria’s subsidiary, Nu Mark, signed a $110 million deal to acquire the e-cigarette business of Green Smoke Inc. Later in the year, the subsidiary completed the national roll-out of the MarkTen, which was supposed to be a notch above the 200 types of e-cigarettes already available.”

“Reynolds American: the number two tobacco company in the U.S. with close to 28% of the market. This year, Reynolds American will be seen collaborating with the U.S. number three Lorillard, after the FTC gave regulatory approval for their proposed merger last month. When it comes to e-cigarettes, Reynolds has the leader Vuse in their portfolio. After the national roll-out of the product in 2014, Vuse immediately gained popularity to account for over 35% of the market a year later. This is evident when one looks at the company’s sales in all the other categories, which grew a phenomenal 37.7% year-over year in 2014.”

Mmmmm...tough break for the kid.

BT could use him as a test subject. That would get PETA off their backs.

FDA shares an interest in reducing the reliance on animal-based studies, and the Agency is committed to the three "Rs" of reduction, refinement, and replacement in animal testing. Although we are hopeful that in vitro assays and computer models can ultimately help to replace much of the need for animal testing, there are still many areas for which non-animal testing is not yet a scientifically valid and available option.

Good thinking!

But wait, what about the children?
