Great question. Considering one vapes it...wouldn't that be ironic?
If you're going to vape nicotine it's illegal
if you're going to vape "something else" it isn't..Oy!

My friend brought that up the other day. He said hey, you'll still be able to get them from Smoke Token. That would be very ironic indeed.

Indeed...seems like all we have to do is blow off our noses
or other body part or get careless with the DIY stuff so
our children or pet will ingest it and die...and we for sure get
"journalists" attention..

Sensationalism SELLS. News stories are written/produced
to sell the media and attract advertisers, as well as to stay in harmony with
the will of Big Brother.
Unbiased, Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How
are no longer part of a journalist's mission.

Money is the bottom line for both Gub'min and the media.
Nobody gives a crap about the truth, the constitution,
ethics, or fair play as long as somebody cuts a check.

Many of us are still under the impression
that life is like in 'Leave it to Beaver' where even Eddie Haskell
(played by Ken Osmond) had a conscience. It isn't.

Regards,
Hazy
I think it is all about " click's " reminds me of high school.

between here and there
With all of the different view points and opinions that are being bounced around and 'discussed' on this thread, the one thing we can all agree upon is 'vaping is NOT SMOKING'. Yes?
That should be the one thing we should put at the top of all of our correspondence to our legislators/house reps/Congress, etc. And any news items we happen to comment on.
If we all hammer it enough and say at least one thing that may get their attention, then why not?
Just my 2 pennies.
:)

West Virginia Legislature Passes Massive New Tax on Vapor Products

Wait, what? I thought WV made e-liquid exempt from taxes.

Why did you Believe that e-Liquids were Exempt from Taxation?

BTW - Larry Faircloth does get around.

"The House of Delegates rejected an amendment by Delegate Larry Faircloth that would have removed e-cigarettes and vapor products from Senate Bill 1012’s tax hikes. This new tax makes West Virginia the state with the 3rd highest tax rate on the products in the nation."

The reasoning is to make up for a $270M shortfall due to coal and gas prices. Zero to do with anything else. The typical "damn, we need some money from somewhere...what is the easiest and most reliable way? Ah, smokers are easy pickings. Hmmm...their numbers are declining...why?...disruptive ecigs!...dammit....we gotta get them too. Sorry 'bout that! We need the money and you are easy money!"

Selling eliquid in WV requires WV Gov approval starting 7/1 too...we're all in trouble. Coming to a State near you soon and also the State you live in.

I thought WV was going to be vape friendly. And they would have been if not for the darn coal and gas prices. Makes sense right?

Our best hope is reaching the press. In a way, they have failed us the most, as some have said. They are supposed to be the ones to keep an eye out for, and inform the people of, the kind of government and corporate corruption we've been attacked with.

We probably stand a much better chance of getting through to journalists, than to Government officials.
You know what, I agree. We should leverage "freedom of press". I have day dreamed about writing the editor of the top 100 newspapers/magazines leaning on this exact issue. Since when did the press of this country take pleasure in lock stepping with big corporations? when did real reporting cease? when did it become ok to no longer blow the whistle of what is true but rather settle for what is easy and approved? Yes this issue touches us because it involves vaping: something we are passionate about because it saved us from analogs, but the river runs deeper; this is about what made our nation great once upon a time: a government run with ACTUAL checks and balances rather than party lines, a press that reported facts rather than talking points and a people that would be damned than be trampled by some senators son!

Live long and vape.

At the risk of sounding like a one-upper, I got a milk-crate of 0% forgings out of the trash at a company my company bought and shuttered.

I've also got prints.

And a mill and lathe.

And a backhoe.

And a big plot of land.

:)

I have about a 1/4 acre of Coyote Tobacco. :pervy:

Yes, I would. Since the the Executive Branch doesn't answer to the Legislative Branch. And a subpoena is laughable.

Johnson is baiting them. They ain't gonna bite nor will the FDA play this partisan game of "gotcha". Oh, they might throw Johnson a bone by way of a few reams of paper but nothing significant will come of this. At least in our life times.

In my second letter to Sen. Johnson, that I sent on June 1st, I told him I had a feeling the FDA would likely respond with a copy of the Final Regulatory Impact Analysis/Final Regulatory Flexibility Analysis/Unfunded Mandates Reform Act Analysis (FRIA). It is a very troubling document, even more confusing and contradictory than the Final Deeming Rule.

It's pretty astounding that in the introduction the FDA states, "The Regulatory Flexibility Act requires us to analyze regulatory options that would minimize any significant impact of a rule on small entities. We find that the final rule will have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities."

Then it goes on for 156 pages saying we don't know, the market is growing too fast to have accurate info, blah, blah, blah.

I wrote a long message to Sen. Johnson advising that if the FDA sent the FRIA, claiming it somehow answered his questions, to read it very carefully. I then quoted several passages that were of particular concern.

I'm not holding my breath that Sen. Johnson will have a significant impact on the FDA, but I appreciate his questions and common sense. I welcome anything that will get our perspective attention.

ETA: Warning! This report may cause seizures. http://www.fda.gov/downloads/AboutFDA/ReportsManualsForms/Reports/EconomicAnalyses/UCM500254.pdf

I don't understand why a lot of "open system" gear couldn't under "dual use" (like they way the head shops used to get away with it - not the current "dual use" catch phrase).

In other news...

First it was the "Wild West," then it was "Flavors," then it was "Gateway" and now it's "Dual Use." I realize everything except Wild West still appears daily, but the blurbs and sound bites seem to be coming faster as media outlets try to outdo each other on for the next cool phrase. Any guesses what the next one will be?

Having lived in the People's Republic of Kalifornia as long as I have, I gave up on having to have things Make Since a Long Time Ago.
