Why would the story get any attention at all here if it wasn't for his vaping connection ?

Good Question.

Just like one could Ask should Rep. Hunter be Judged any Differently just because he Vapes?

I would Hate to Throw out the Only Openly vaping Rep from the US House of Representative. But until we start Kicking people out of Government if they are Found Guilty of such Campaign Fund Violations, I don't see things like this changing.

BTW - I Sent Rep. Hunter $100. I hope his Son enjoyed the Video Games.

LOL

I read that too, and I'm not defending it.

I would prefer it if politicians never did things they weren't supposed to, and never had conflicts of interest. I also have no clue what Hunter's stance is on anything non-vape related.

I was just thinking that I could easily think of what I would consider much worse offenses, like publicly falsely accusing a former elected official of illegal actions.
Well that's a judgement based on your personal moral code ( and i won't say whether i agree or disagree ), but stealing is a criminal offense. If it's indeed true ( and could be proved ) that he willfully and knowingly used campaign donations to pay for family holidays, video games, kids tuition, jewelry, cable bills etc .... he will go to jail.

Right, that's my own personal opinion, which really means nothing since he's not in my district and I have nothing to do with any kind of investigation.

If they find him guilty, then he deserves whatever comes. If he were in my district, and cleared of wrongdoing, this alone might not prevent me from voting for him, though I probably wouldn't vote for him for other reasons which have nothing to do with this or vaping.

Wanna buy a Boat?

aiviq%20conversion%2016x9.png

Hunter pushes Coast Guard to lease or buy ship owned by top campaign donor

BTW - I wonder if all this had Gone On with a Non-Vaping House Member if they would have received the Same reaction here on the ECF?

LOL

What? That looks like a nice boat. And is that any worse than the vaping legislation our VP signed into law while Governor of Indiana? Nope, no favoritism in politics.;)

Besides, it's only stealing if you already have no money. If you hold office and misuse campaign donations, then it's only an ethics violation.

:(

There's this old joke, attributed to Churchill, G.B. Shaw, and even Groucho Marx...

He: Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?
She: My goodness, Sir... Well, I suppose so ... we would have to discuss terms, of course ...
He: Would you sleep with me for five pounds?
She: Five pounds? What kind of woman do you think I am!? A prostitute?
He: Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.

I don't believe in supporting a crooked politician - EVER.

I also think this is how the darn crooks keep getting voted back in office time and time (and time) again.. because people inevitably say, "well it's not so bad since said crooked politician supports MY pet legislation"...

Well, our preferred legislation or not, it IS that bad and I'm sick to death of the crooks taking us all, and our nation, for a ride.

If the extreme left wingers have taught us a thing, it's that the squeaky wheel gets the grease...

It's time, like yesterday, to start becoming darn squeaky, or we can kiss vaping goodbye while bending over and allowing the government to rape us of our dollars in what little of the vaping industry they have left us..

it's never someone else's job to get you heard, it's your job to be loud enough to be heard..

Screw the crooks, it's time to be heard - by all of them. It's time to squeak.. loud.

It does look like a Nice Boat. And Yeah... the Tax Payers should go ahead and Buy It even though the Coast Guard doesn't want it.

Yeah... I kinda feel the Same Way.

Is there Nobody in Government that doesn't have a Skeleton in their Closet?

He seeks to govern us, he is a career politician; those together equal a skeleton.

Do I read this right? Are you saying that it is OK by you? Only an ethics violation? Ethics? Politician? Oil and water.

I read Eskie's post as sarcasm, with the roll-eyes smiley. And perhaps his point is that if you or I did it, it would be a crime, but if an elected politician does it the system treats it as only an ethics violation.

So much for the promised equal application of the law. We know we get the best justice money can buy.

Politicians and oil and water? Aren't those two commodities politicians commonly rely on for bribe payroll source campaign donations?:D
