Is there a summary somewhere? I don't have 75 minutes to watch an interview.

I'm a large gigantic, ok, HUGE (ok to say?) supporter of Mr. Aaron. His first venture was wild and wonderful and I was beyond grateful to get an invite to the Red Carpet ride and after-party. I have no doubt that this docu will be equally brilliant!

I hope they will address all of the misconceptions about nicotine being "allegedly addictive" toxic and carcinogenic. I don't believe nicotine is addictive, may be "dependence inducing" in cigs..... I hope the movie will also delve into the lies we've been told about ETS killing people.

Oh CRAP!!!!
They are going after our bulk concentrate now!

"There is a clear need to regulate the sale of higher-concentration nicotine solutions in now being sold in larger volumes," (poor grammar is a direct quote)

Juul Success Spurs E-Cig 'Nicotine Arms Race'

They are clearly talking about the latest evolution\popularity of nicotine salts, but you can easily see where bulk concentrate will get thrown out with the bath water......

For the record, I have been using 36mg freebase since I started vaping 6 years ago. I inhaled cigars and I needed\wanted that stronger kick and TH that was more akin to cigars. Its what has kept me tobacco free.

Glad I got a freezer full of 999mg...

I probably have enough 100mg/ml nic base in the freezer to last me 8 or 10 years, but I keep thinking that more is better, so I might just add a liter to my stock. :) Don't want to be caught short.

Yeah, every week it's something else. Hard to figure out how they think bulk limitations would do anything to the pod makers anyway. Short of a reg that retail pods can't contain more than x mg nic makes the whole thing ridiculous. Then of course once the nic is lowered they can show vaping doesn't help stop cigarette use.

On the flip side Altria got a modified risk reduction approval (committee approval still a little ways to go) for Copenhagen snuff. The committee is still on the fence about Snus. Weird the first modified risk approval might be for Copenhagen and we're dealing with idiots who think high nic salt pods are going to contribute to the next great extinction event.

Don't you just love it when the "researcher" not only presents "findings" but has all the solutions as well: "There is a clear need to regulate...." Jackler says.

*sigh* Nobody even pretends to maintain integrity anymore.

But I don't read this as going after bulk nicotine, only high nic rtv juice. Of course, like smoking, it's done one "reasonable" step at a time.

Seriously!?! A quote from that linked article. I can't see/read the actual article w/o paying a fee ... but geez I'd like to see how they came up w/ this number.

"A recent on-line survey of Juul users ages 15 to 24, 63% said they did not even know the e-cigarette contained nicotine."

I agree, they are going after salts, but if they "regulate" no more than XXmg, bulk will fall into the mix. You can see that coming like a freight train.

And in my ATL paper this am, source Bloomberg. Nothing to see here, really. Just more bluster from Gottlieb about Juul, and requesting a meeting.
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

edit: Whaa? Don't know why the link reads "Are you a robot?" "Headline is Altria-Juul Pact Gets FDA Scrutiny"

From your link...

"He cited one example of a 30-cubic centimeter (cc) bottle of vaping liquid with 5.5% nicotine with a label resembling the breakfast cereal Fruit Loops. "One teaspoon would be enough to kill five toddlers, and the whole bottle would be enough to kill a preschool classroom," Jackler said."

You have to hand it to Jackler. He sure can paint an Emotional Picture.

About the Only thing that might have been Better would have been a "preschool classroom of blind children".

LOL

I can believe that 63 Percentile.

I mean, how is Anyone supposed to know that a JUUL Pod contains Nicotine without doing Extensive Research on the internet?

While I agree that packaging should be childproof (gee why didn't someone already implement that?) Robert K. Jackler, MD flunks at math. One teaspoon of 5.5% contains 0.271mg of nicotine. At the absolute most conservative numbers (0.1mg/kg) I have ever seen that preschooler would have to be 6lb or less and the whole classroom a total of 36.3lb or less. According to the CDC the oral LD50 of nicotine is around 0.8 mg/kg and recorded cases of nicotine death suggest the real value at 2 to 5mg/kg. Again, I am not suggesting that nicotine shouldn't be packaged to prevent children from ingesting it, just the math.
