BTW - It Funny to reading something like this...

Hey all! Glad to find a great community like ECF. I smoked for 42 years, and happily almost 5 months ago that all changed. I heard of this vape pen called the Juul and got one. Two days in with the Juul, I quit smoking after 42 years and haven't looked back. I used the Juul for about a month and thought there must be a lot better and more fun vape systems out there than this. So, I started doing some research and watching reviews on YouTube, and now I have 5 vapes with a 6th one coming tomorrow. I have the smok Novo, Justfog Minifit, Renova Zero, Aspire Nautilus AIO, and the Aspire Zelos 50W TC, with the Aspire Tigon 2600 mAh coming tomorrow. I think I'm set for awhile with maybe a tad bit of shinyitis. Great to be here. I am looking forward to learning a lot more about this great hobby that got me off the smelly death sticks. I'm getting my breath back, my taste back, and my sense of smell. I feel great!

... after seeing all the Evils of JUUL in the Headlines.

Strange how you Never see a Article about How Many People have Quit Smoking using a JUUL? Or any other e-Cigarette for that matter?

I can believe that 63 Percentile.

I mean, how is Anyone supposed to know that a JUUL Pod contains Nicotine without doing Extensive Research on the internet?

JUUL_pods-Apple-Orchard-1.jpg

Seriously!?! A quote from that linked article. I can't see/read the actual article w/o paying a fee ... but geez I'd like to see how they came up w/ this number.

"A recent on-line survey of Juul users ages 15 to 24, 63% said they did not even know the e-cigarette contained nicotine."

Given the current state of education today, I have no doubt that 63% of 15 - 24 year olds could fail to know that Juul contains nicotine. Thought throughout the "education" process is not a valued commodity.

Don't you just love it when the "researcher" not only presents "findings" but has all the solutions as well: "There is a clear need to regulate...." Jackler says.

*sigh* Nobody even pretends to maintain integrity anymore.

But I don't read this as going after bulk nicotine, only high nic rtv juice. Of course, like smoking, it's done one "reasonable" step at a time.
"My view is regulators should never allow 30-cc bottles of high-nicotine vaping liquid"

Bulk will fall into the mix unless you have a license to manufacture.

But Wait... Are you say'n that a California University Professor would Intentionally use Misleading Statistics to in someway Promote an Agenda? And All the while taking Federal Grant Money for Tobacco Control in doing so?

Wow! Never seen that before.

Is not anyone simply aghast that anyone would have the audacity to make such a statement? Is there any rationale, other than the lust for power and control over others, to make such a statement?

Actually unprotected sex is considerably down (never going to be 0 but better than it used to be especially with increased availability of condoms)and while drinking is not necessarily down teen auto crash deaths from intoxication is also down (where they're the driver, not when they're hit by a drunk adult). Drugs, well, overdose deaths sure are up but that includes young adults in the 18-24 year group.

You never see the article because no one will do the study. If it's not done there's nothing to refute conjecture. Of course if Juul does it, their Altria partner will simply taint the study by the mere presence on BT offering up a positive result. So the net effect is we'll never see that number.

That article has flaws that haven't been mentioned yet, so I'll point them out:

In an interview with MedPage Today, Jackler explained that before Juul entered the market, most e-cigarettes and vaping liquids had nicotine concentrations of no more than 1.5% to 2% (1.5-2 mg/mL)

Another math fail. 1.5%-2% is 15-20 mg/ml.

Child-resistant packaging for e-liquids is being required by an increasing number of American states,

Child resistant packaging has been mandatory on the federal level since 2015, IIRC. That means it's already mandatory in all 50 states, the District of Corruption, and all US territories.

Yes indeed. The vape shops in Europe love the TPD. It keeps customers coming back again and again. 10 ml of 20 mg liquid would last me a whopping three days after I dilute it a bit.

I had not thought of that, yup, boost sales.

Rumor has it that the Small Bottle requirements where Heavily Lobbied by these guys.

British Glass

But I read that on FB at the bottom of a story about JUUL causing Male Pattern Baldness. So who can say if it is true or not?

I wonder how many school kids these days have ever seen an Apple orchard in person (name of the Juul flavor on the box)?

JUUL_pods-Apple-Orchard-1.jpg

Maybe not in Person. But I'd say a Lot have on TV. With the Extensive Advertising Campaign that has been done, probably close to 63% of age 15 ~ 24.

 No its not true. Next step will be to say it causes impotence. The scarier the better.

Yeah... I'm sure the Fine Folks at Eli Lilly and Pfizer have a considered sponsoring a Counter Disinformation Campaign (CDC) to do just that.

Maybe off topic but is there a thread anywhere listing which vendors/products are connected to BT? I want to be certain I avoid their products and not give them a dime of my money. An example is one company I used to buy from was bought by BT but i didn't know it for some time.
