I Don't think the Average Vaper has their Head in the Sand. Because I Don't think that the Average Vaper has a Clue what is Going On.

Well, you are probably right. We certainly know little about when to jump out of a boiling pot and that is true in almost every area of governmental regulatory over reach.

Yeah but presumably this friend knew something about what was going on and still chose to believe all will be well.

Some people are like that. I call them "innocents" and try to stay away from them so I don't corrupt them with my cynical nature because like, you can't CONVINCE them you can only make them miserable.

How many Posts have you seen on the ECF that say something along the lines of...

"I Can't Believe How Much Cheaper it is to Do DIY!"

or...

"I was Nervous about trying DIY because I thought it would be Very Hard. But it isn't. It actually Isn't all that hard at all."

That is why you Don't see that the things I mentioned in my earlier Post about B&M's and all but a Very Few Online Retailers.

They could tell their Customer that they are sitting in that soon to be Boiling Water. But they Don't. It's Not what they consider good for their business(s).

It seemed in the earlier days, vape merchants were as much motivated by the safety of vaping as they were in making some dough. Over time when money makers saw they could make a buck off vaping it was the latter. As you allude, to many, it's a business only.

Just about All Things go that way.

But Money Isn't the Root of All Evil. No... It's the Love of Money that is.

My Hopes are that as we near The End, that B&M's and Online Retailers will alert their Customer Base as to Exactly what is going on. And, perhaps, then there can be a Mad Rush for many to Stock Up against the Darkness that is coming.

I was hoping for lots of giant clearance sales that no one else would notice.

I'm curious as to what the availability will be as we approach the drop dead date. On one hand, I think many of the shops will close down ahead of the deadline because they know it's over for them and they want to clean out all their inventory in advance. On the other hand, there's probably enough greedy merchants who will load up and hope to unload for a quick jackpot.

I've noticed more and more vendors offering alternative use products which I expect them to argue fall outside the e cigarette use thing.I know the deeming regs in 2016 did address stuff like hookahs or other alternative glass products, but haven't seen any news or focus on that area of business.

I received an email from Asmodus about how their products could be used for these alternative uses. VaporDNA just opened a whole new store section for those things, and it appears Eightvape has as well. It would be ironic if we will have to buy stuff meant for these "oil, flower extract" products to repurpose for our own nic juice use. That gear becomes necessary as more states legalize use (and like alcohol, good luck taking that stuff away once legit) and is already legal for the "non-mood altering" hemp stuff. So maybe all the vape shops become head shops, with nic vape gear sold from under the counter.

So, while we're sweating out the countdown to FDA regs, it looks like folks in India may have it way worse than us, along with prison time.

India Proposes Ban on E-Cigarettes, With Jail Terms for Offenders - Govt Documents

Here's the lead on it

"NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's health ministry has proposed a ban on the production and import of electronic cigarettes, documents seen by Reuters showed, potentially jeopardizing the expansion plans of big firms like Juul Labs and Philip Morris International.

The ministry has proposed that the government issue an executive order banning the devices in the public interest, saying it was needed to ensure e-cigarettes don't become an "epidemic" among children and young adults.

"E-cigarettes and similar technologies that encourage tobacco use or adversely impact public health are hazardous for an active as well as passive user," the health ministry said in an internal note seen by Reuters that the federal cabinet is expected to consider.

Health officials are proposing jail terms of up to three years, with a penalty of up to 500,000 rupees ($7,000), for repeat offenders against the new rules, according to a draft of the executive order.

First-time offenders would face a prison term of up to one year and a fine of 100,000 rupees."

It goes on to say this is an emergency executive order, and it's not clear if it will stand up in Parliament (I'm not at all familiar with the legislative process there, so I'm just running with what's being reported). It's worth a read, as they also invoke an argument that vaping equipment can be dual use for the unmentionable here.

What's interesting here is that India has the second largest population of smokers following China, and has their own tobacco control programs, but they are totally buying into the party line of gateway drug, new generation of nicotine addicts, and the usual hyperbole that's tossed around. So there are places that make the US seem not so bad.

...and they supply the world with much of the liquid nicotine we use.

Apparently there is enough room in India for smokers but not smokers AND vapers.

So the world begins to ban e-cigarettes, but tobacco rolled up in paper is still OK? I guess it's still about the tax revenue (see graphic below).

E-cigarettes should not be banned in India, shares consumers

In 2018, India became the second-largest consumer of tobacco in the world, with over 1.35 million people dying of tobacco-related illness each year. One of the most common types of cancer in India, lung cancer accounts for 5.9 per cent of all new cancer cases diagnosed in the country. Tobacco consumption is a major contributory factor in nearly 95 per cent of lung cancer cases and causes other serious health complications. Smoking is a major reason for cancer-related deaths in India. At a time like this, we are missing the focus on India’s biggest problem, which is tobacco.

Soooo, anyone wondering what the fate of ECF is?
I have wondered about this since the deeming was announced. Vaping is a world wide thing so guess it will depend on how many vendors are able to place adds, and how much Oliver wants to keep this ship sailing...or will the site become a pay to play deal.

Oliver hasn't been seen in the building for several months.
