The 'Burgh, PA.
Not sure how accurate this is, but Tax Foundations says CA has highest gasoline tax (not counting federal tax)...

Gas-Tax-July-2019-fv-01.png

May be because it's a July 2019 map...but currently...Pennsylvania Gas Tax is 77.1 cents/gallon...California Gas Tax is 72.7 cents/gallon...(BOTH ridiculous, of course)...

The States Where You Pay the Highest Gasoline Taxes

Welcome to the exciting world of virus induced home incarceration!!! Prepare to get stircrazy :tumble:

If we are Before the Top of the Curve in all this (which we are), and if this is going to go on for at least 6 to 8 Weeks more (which Most Health Experts say it will), I wonder How Many Small Businesses are going to be Left when we Finally Emerge from our Homes?

Yeah. This unnecessary BS is really going to hurt a lot of small businesses.

Just seems like there are a LOT of things that Kill Hundreds of Thousands of People in America every year. But that Isn't even close to enough to basically Grind the Economy to a Halt.

But this...

Unless they get a lot of help, not many. We made a run tonight to the drive through drop at the PO. It was crickets out there. It’s right by a large shopping area, and hardly anyone out. Not that there’s anywhere to go to. I expected the drive through restaurants to be swamped, but no. It’s sort of creepy seeing everything so abandoned looking. On the other hand , it was grand to just get out of the house! Himself has been working obscenely long days, and the dog isn’t much of a conversationalist lol.

We’ve only had 14 deaths in the state, but out of the 4,300+ hospital beds in this city, there are only 33% left. As local testing comes online, I expect our confirmed cases # will skyrocket. We’re at a week give or take before hospitals are out of space if the trajectory holds. The increase in cases from yesterday was about 100. This is just surreal

Not sure where the Money is going to come from?

Cause Raising the Corporate Tax Rate in the mist of a Sever Recession isn't exactly sound economic policy. And going to the Tax the Rich well isn't bottomless.

Anyway... Probably better topics for the OUTSIDE.

Just seems like we (our Government) is Hobbling itself. And doing one of those Throw the Baby Out with the Bathwater things like they did with e-Cigarettes.

All in the Name of Saving Something.

This is why Testing Kits have been Held Back.

Because if they were Readily Available, hospitals would be Crushed under the Influx of Patient Load. And True Panic would Ensue.

There's several threads that have discussed this. One of the latest

(not to zoid, to all)
We'd be looking at millions dead in the USA alone, in a short time frame without these "silly" mitigation efforts, including some of our most respected doctors, teachers, etc. You know, the ones that would care for the sick, or teach math. And there's fallout for other heath-issues too, as the hospitals are saturated and HC workers get sick. That flu is still going on, and so are the car accidents (albeit less with less commuting). So this pandemic is largely ADDITIVE.

Make sure you "thank first responders for their service", eh? Many won't make it out of this "battle zone". They go to work knowing they'll eventually get sick. Some are fabricating self-made masks due to equipment shortages. And you can get PTSD from traumatic events like watching people you know and love die, day after day too.

F-ing stay the frack home, help them out. :2c:

I have a daughter who works as a nurse in a long stay facility for people with severe mental illness, who aren't big on personal hygiene and need constant physical intervention. She still goes to work, they give her one mask a day and they ran out of robes. If she gets infected there might not be a hospital bed for her because they were all filled up by those rugged individualists who laugh in the face of danger and ignore the bleating of the nanny statists.
