I agree it's mishandled. They should have paid 80% of existing salaries AND done a stimulus on top of it. To fend off the recession.

To fend off the recession?

The M1/M2 Injection the Feds did was to Slow the Circling of the Drain.

That's OK. We'll just let future generations pay for our standard of living. Who cares about them anyway, right?

Okay, I'm done on the subject, but "We'll live" is by any American standard, dismissive. And I didn't ask if you were rich. I asked if the shutdown affected your work, and I think we all saw the answer to that, in your (lack of an) answer.Nope, not dismissive at all.
The country will survive, I can't say all will make it financially. And no, that's not dismissive either, and I'm not rich. My point is that sometimes the country has to do what it has to do.
I did say that I was disappointed in how D.C. handled it. I mentioned that the UK paid 80% of salaries.
So IDK how that's "dismissive". I think it's mishandled, but that doesn't mean we don't shut down.
Here, Mnuchin claims that people can get by for 10 weeks on $1,200.

The CDC is responsible for shutting down the economy based on GIGO computer models (which are continuously revised for wild inaccuracies)
(I think this is part of Deeming?)
But around April 2, this..
Oversight Committee urges FDA to ban e-cigarettes, vaping over coronavirus risks
So, if smoking and vaping (a big if, based on opinion, not fact) increases coronavirus risks, why just ban e-cigs? How does that ban help smokers? Shouldn't they have asked that all tobacco be banned? (yea, I know why, nobody wants to go up against Big Tobacco)
(and of course, I'm not saying they should be banned, just pointing out the fallacy in their case.)
That's my biggest fear (and a very realistic fear) it's all about $$$Having said this the government not only in the USA but all over the world will want a slice of the pie,so the only thing left for them is to over tax us to death on nicotine.
Oh no, Bill has entered the picture. Game Over.Still can't like/dislike/agree/funny etc or else i would agree the heck out of your post,i hope this gif suffices:

I will never ever trivialize death. But, I think that the media coverage and government response has blown this way out of proportion. With 53,600 People in the USA currently Dead, and more coming Every Day, I just Can't see how the Average Person would have been OK with doing Nothing but Voluntary Recommendations. And that things would have been Business as Normal with 5 or maybe even 10 Times the Current Mortality Rate.
As it has been Mentioned here before, the Average American just Doesn't have the Stomach for numbers like that without Demanding that the Government "Do Something".
So we're kinda back to there was No Viable Option.
