It's hard to get your head around this stuff. You might say the politicians are just reflecting the will of the voters, which is kind of their job. A large percentage of the people have been brainwashed into believing that vaping is evil. We complain when politicians ignore the will of the people, but we complain about them following the will of the people when we think the people are wrong.
On the other hand the pols motives are always murky. Maybe some of them understand that the bad rap against vaping is unfair but vote to ban it anyway because if they don't they will be punished by the anti-vaping voters. And be tagged as not caring about the kids by their next opponent. Some of them probably really believe vaping is bad. Some of them have been bribed by BT and BP.
Sure. Everything you said is right.
But, for me there are two issues. (Probably more than two.)
First is, (regardless of the will of the voters) can you so easily prevent adults from engaging in personal acts, which in and of themselves do not harm others. I get that these bills don't prohibit vaping. But, the end result may be the same.
Second, the protect the kiddies aspect is so much ....**t. Do these pathetic parents want to see their babies drink booze? If not, then they should ban booze. But, of course, since they imbibe, they wouldn't want to cut into their "sins", so they'll never ban that. But, since they don't vape, then they're only restricting the rights of others, which is ok with them.
Land of the free and home of the brave. That'll be my motto from here on.
