I wasn't sure where to put this, so I'm just going to leave it here. Amanda Wheeler's twitter page has been taken private, so I tried to find out why and found this. The video is worth watching.
I guess I'm a realist; you have to play with the cards you're dealt. IMO, big companies like PMI are going to take over the vaping industry no matter what we think about it, so if a few vape activists can try to affect the situation from the inside, I'm all for it.Who knows? Mebe the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em' reform from within dream may ultimately prevail. But no workey for me cause I can't unsee experience.
I'd agree, as logical and pragmatic. However, our leaders are certifiable and so inclined call the wild cards after the hands are dealt. Then they'd have us believe that it's always been so.I guess I'm a realist; you have to play with the cards you're dealt. Got my preventative CT scan this morning. Results are in. I'm benign. No lung cancer. A touch of emphysema and fatty liver but nothing serious or unusual. So good results.
Yes, each person has to investigate their own insurance provisions. They vary quite a bit. I contacted my insurance company (BCBSNC) prior and got clearance. It fell into "Preventative Benefits". She told me at most it would cost me is a $94 co-pay. Turns out I didn't pay that either (yet). And also yes, blood tests are very powerful. I'm amazed the stories blood tests tell. They're endless and an excellent preventative measure. My blood tests last couple times revealed I have high red blood cell markers (esp, Hematocrit). After further testing my Hemotolgist cleared it as "of no health concern". But he checked for a couple "manageable" blood disorders (mutations aka as cancer) that come up more often than not when high red blood cell markers are present...those that are connected to carbon monoxide (smoking). Again, I was fortunate. But the point is looking at these things before they blossom out of control is crucial. So for us ex smokers, Low Dose CT scans and blood tests are two of the best things we can do for ourselves.Good to Hear that your Scan came back clean. A CT-Scan with IV Contrast coupled with Cancer Markers Blood Tests is a Powerful One-Two Diagnostic Tool. And some Amazing Technology packed into a 6 Foot Tube.
I had 4 done in 2022. And will probably have 1 More done this year.
You are absolutely right about the Expense. They can be Very Pricey. And that Entire "It's Covered by your Insurance" can be Misleading. Because your Insurance may Covered it, up to $1,800.00, but the Imaging Center could bill the Procedure for $2,200.00.
Which leave you on the Hook for a cool 4 Bills.
No surprises there. Typical government lip service.I totally forgot about AVM's meeting with FDA's CTP Director Brian King yesterday afternoon. If you're interested in what he had to say, you can check it out on Vaping360.

The Republicans in Congress are going to investigate the incompetense at FDA's Center For Tobacco Products. I'm not sure how much they can do about it, but it could be fun to watch.

At least they seem to understand the value of THR. They're planning to give away a million vape kits to help reduce smoking. A lot of people in our government are still trying to convince everyone that vaping is as dangerous as smoking.Just saw a segment on BBC World News about vaping in the UK. A Gov representative said they consider vaping to be an important piece of their strategy to help people get off smoking but they are concerned about the level of vaping among kids, which did appear to be rather high in terms of the % of teens who are regular vapers. We've seen teen vaping numbers in the US and they were mostly bogus. The segment I saw didn't provide any details on how the UK numbers were put together.
One brilliant strategy they are considering to address this dilemma is raising the cost of vapes to price out the kids. More tax money, hmm.
