Do you vape at work?

I vape discreetly everywhere I go. I used to do it more openly in my office, however I was worried that it may disturb my co-workers, so now I stealth vape indoors, or wait till I can go to the smoking area to make some bigger clouds. There are also times when I'm alone around the office (i.e. in the bathroom, an elevator or stairwell) when I manage to take some big pulls. I generally always have an ego sized device in my pocket (except when I'm sleeping of course).

No, I don't. But I work in corporate healthcare so I don't think they would approve while work at work (no matter how many studies I show them). When I leave for lunch though, you betcha. I can also sneak it in the bathroom. But no, I don't vape where people can see (at work).

I'm vaping right now as I write this, but doing it very discretely.

I asked first (kind of) in terms of my co-employees, who sit within site of me, and they're cool. It's a little more tricky with the people working for the other company with whom we share a loft space, because i'm not sure how they'd take it. There's a big partition between us and them, but it has big windows, so I try hard to keep my vaping out of our neighbors' view. So far so good, but I guess all bets are off when I get my genesis-style rba next week; hope the increased vapor doesn't activate the sprinkler system.

My last job was a boiler room call center. We got all of two 10 minute breaks a day, so a lot of people vaped at their desks. My manager switched to vaping due to health issues, and used Blu's. She actually encouraged the office smokers to switch from analogs, and allowed vaping at your desk. Almost everyone in there smoked, so there was always someone vaping, and why not? No smell, really not offensive in my book.

My job now is a very small office, 2 out of 4 of us vape on the floor. Not sure the manager is crazy about it, but he likes the fact we aren't taking hourly smoke breaks. The other two employees don't mind, and we did ask if they did. Believe me, they would say if they did. They actually said they enjoy the aroma.

No complaints from co-workers, but when I raised the query the local HR officer was all for it, and sent it to head office to confirm along with a load of pro-vaping studies etc. Turns out one of the other managers, who was trying to quit smoking, nipped it in the bud.

Still, means I get to stretch my legs a few times a day and get outside of the office, so it doesn't bother me.

I work at a power company in the IT department as a systems analyst. I live in Richmond, VA. I have current NERC clearance for unescorted access within a nuclear facility. I'm working on several nuke projects now.

I sit in a cubicle and vape all day while at work. I don't blow clouds above my cubicle walls where it may attract attention. Rather, I blow the vapor straight under a shelf. Onlookers may catch a wisp or two as they pass, but that's it.

I've converted two other smokers I work with to vaping. One of them is a bit more brazen about it than I am. He'll walk down a hallway blowing clouds. I keep it confined to my desk.

We're extremely proud to have quit smoking. Management has been encouraging. Nobody has complained about the indoor vaping.

When the weather was nice, I'd step outside to the smoking section area (keeping my distance from the ashtray and the "analog" smokers). I'm looking forward to getting some sunshine and fresh air again during the day when the springtime comes, but I'll stay inside during the winter.

I should of been more clear, as long as you have gotten expressed permission to vape first of course that is ok. I was more talking about people who just take out a e-cig and start vaping and expect people to be ok with it and understand what it is.

Those of us who support vaping openly most places, always do so with the qualifier to vape openly BUT respectfully and with common sense. We also encourage all of us to be well educated on what vaping is and is not and be well prepared to educate the uninformed in an open and agreeable manner.

We find this a good compromise instead of being a vaper that acts like smoking and vaping are the same thing as your initial comment suggested.

I accept your clarification. I believe there are settings where it can be done without permission and the vaper can still be non-antagonistic, however. I vape in many cases where I don't have "permission" but there is little/no need for it. I have introduced quite a few vapers to our hobby this way. While boorish behavior certainly can hurt our cause, I see every opportunity to vape as a chance to help it by introducing some new person to the experience. So I rarely pass up such an opportunity. It takes a bit of judgement and a good read on the situation.

When I am not fairly sure, I do ask. When I am asked to stop by ownership/management, I always do politely and promptly.

Well stated and excellent example of how to vape openly but respectfully as well as educate the uninformed about vaping.

My boss actually paid for my initial e-cig starter kit to get me off my 38yr 2pad habit. And it worked! Going on 3 months now without an analog. Also, we are allowed to vape freely at work (pawn shop).

I'm only half way through this thread, and my workplace is only a tiny seasonal gift shop which I own, so, yes, I vape, but not in front of customers I don't know. All my friends are really happy when I am vaping rather than smoking, so I vape in front of them.

In other jobs I've had, the workforce would have been much more productive if PVs had been available in those days. Half of the workers going out for a cigarette break every hour really lowered productivity. If workers are allowed to vape, they can keep working rather than leaving to smoke. It also would encourage more people to quit smoking because they would rather vape than stand outside in the freezing cold.

I stealth vape at work, my employer has seen fit to classify e-cigs as a tobacco product, and charges more for health care if you are a known user of tobacco products...

I work in Indianapolis where the powers that be decided to include e-cigarettes in the smoking ban. Yes, Indianapolis is one of only three cities in the USA that frowns on second hand water vapor It is allowed everywhere else in the state.

Yes I vape at work. Along with my husband and my boss. We work in An Auto Body Shop. We ALL used to smoke the stinkies, but I have converted us all. It smells so much better in our front office (Well besides the paint and fumes of the welding. LOL). We have had many customers come in and ask if we were baking goodies in the office because they can smell cookies and cupcakes..... If you would like more info PM me. Thanks Shannan
