I just got some 401 E2 cartos from Kathleen Callaway and think they are the previous generation, looks like plastic holding the coil. Without my going back to read the numerous posts, I believe these are the ones that have given people problems, correct? Also, as Zelda pointed out, they have a nasty burnt/metallic taste to them, and these are pre-filled! Isn't there a way to get rid of the primer taste?
I also have an order comming from e-liquid.cn for the latest E2 cartos, and I ordered them pre-filled, expecting that they wouldn't have a primer issue being they are putting juice in them. Based on what I have here, I'm anxious these are all going to taste nasty. If I had thought they would still put/use a primer in pre-filled, I'd have bought blanks, and washed them out before use.
What can I expect from these older E2s with plastic, how long will they last, are there other issues?

You may have the carto's with the white glue sealant at the bottom. Soak the carto in boiling water for 15 minutes then rinse with running water (repeat if you can still smell it).
My older 401's didn't have a bad taste, but they don't wick quite as well as the newer ceramic ones. Personally I don't like pre-filled cartos so I'd rinse them out and do a dry burn to get that stuff out of there. If you're using factory 401 batts the taste might be a little dry, but as long as you don't vape it non-stop you should be ok.
Thanks I tried that and a bunch of other methods. It wouldn't go away! Great suggestion though _ I bet it works for some of them.

There is no Glue in the new ones but they have some tasty Primer Lubricant on the wick instead.
Why they can't just use a bit of PG or VG, I have no idea.

K24a3, there will be nothing on the wick form now on, they will be steamed cleaned and double checked before use. I spoke to them today and they are making that top priority along with adjusting any leak issues that seem to happen on a few at the stem and cup area and not the bottom of the e2 which seems to not leak after testing.
I took all your complaints and worries and relayed them to martinez and I stressed these points out over and over and they are willing to make whatever adjustments, they did ask to please understand each time they fix them that it takes time to fix test and so on. but look how far we have come in one months time so.......

Mine did. It looked blue when I first peeked down in there but it turned out to be clear. I rinsed mine out before the first use and never tasted it.
I did dry burn one before rinsing, and it didn't smell very good.
I don't think mine have primer, but if they do, it's wonderful. I smoke ...err I meant: I vape winston peg, and it tastes like smoke so much that it's scary sometimes. At first I kept wondering if a real cigarette was hiding in the xl.

thats the thing vjohn, the peg juice i tried tasted to much like a analog, it even had that same inhale taste, wierd but not my cup of tea anymore.
