but when we place the inner plug properly isnt it actually doing what we are saying, closing off the top of the open slits, if so then maybe they arent the main issue and only a little seapage or spattering is happening in that case.

i will test this, cut a few in half and fill liquid up to where i cut it and see if it leaks, if it leaks then its the base where the stem meats the base, if it does not leak then its form the top of the stem????? or if it does not leak then it doesnt leak, i dont think it has 2 issues with leaking

cut a few in half  ? so many?

Yes, the inner plug should close them off, but I don't have a picture of how much of the slots get closed off, and I don't have a ceramic cup on the loose yet, the cartos are working great.

I've definitely noticed the performance has dropped off a bit on the ones that I have been using for 10 days. The flavor is not as intense and the vapor not as thick. (probably about the level of the cartosaurus, but I've gotten spoiled)

On the plus side I realize I've been able to take much longer vapes once they are broke in good. Have to get used to taking shorter vapes now on these new ones. I think the sweet spot is from the 5th to the 25th fills.

You can notch out the sides of the filler cap to give the wick more room and allow for better stabilization of the ceramic but I only started doing that once the cup started to lean. Otherwise I think the flavor is better with no cap, you just have to keep them upright and keep your PV tilted down but I think BR's driptip mod has great potential to solve this issue.

Still not a bad deal if a 5 pack lasts that long. Looking forward to trying the XL's, how much liquid are you getting into those?

1.8 on the xl

you do know you can dry burn them, the taste usually comes back after you dry burn all the gunk off

I've been giving them a quick rinse and dry burning them. I think it's in the wick that dangles down, I switch flavors a lot. I may try letting them soak in vodka for a bit to see if that helps.

Hey guys

I've been following the E2 threads since the beginning - just wanted to say hi :)

So far I've only tried the plastic version but I could never seem to get more than 1 drag before I would get a burnt taste. I could take another good drag if I waited about 1/2 hour. It was certainly the best flavour/vapour/throat hit I've ever had. I have tried all the tricks in the thread to try to fix it too. I'm just waiting for some ceramics to arrive so hopefully I'll have more luck with them.

I just had a thought though - wouldn't it make more sense to change the slits to holes? I would have thought there would be less chance of them getting pinched that way?

I also think I've come up with a better design for the no filler cartos, but this probably isn't the place to bring that up - will see if there are some other threads about that.

Also just wanted to thank everyone for their hard work on these cartos. It's been an amazing effort! I've never before seen development progress so quickly on a product of any sort. Kudos to Microcig too.

Cheers
Sanda

Hi Sanda, there isn't much you can do with the earlier revisions. I believe the biggest problem with them is that the coil is too tight around the wick, and the ohms are too low. You might have success using a lower voltage battery (for example 3.0 volt), but imo its not worth the hassle if you have ceramics on the way.

These new ceramic ones still have issues (awful primer liquid, leaking problems, threading problems with 510 model), but they are quite an improvement over the earlier revisions.

well it depends how gunked up it is, if yo feel it killing your taste or stopping vapor prodcution, then soak in hot water the flick it clean and dry burn it back to normal.

I scraped the coil a bit to remove some of the 'fuzz' and its actually not too bad. The wick is dark but its still producing good vapor, still no flavor though. I just tried an Edition 1 carto with the same juice, there is no flavor with that either

I think the primer has affected my taste significantly to the extent that I can't taste some flavors at all. But other flavors are normal.

I'd love to know what that primer actually is...

Thanks mate. Yeah I reckon the coil issue you mentioned might be my problem. Oh well - hopefully the ceramics will be better :)

I didn't take the advice I got to NOT dry burn them at 6v. All was going great...was just about perfectly clean then.....nothing  I killed the carto. Sigh, next time I listen to you all! On to my 3rd cart, had them about a week and a half? I don't remember, but I stick to only one cart all day, no rotating. If I quit screwing with them they'll last forever I'm sure lol

My mama used to say, "if you don't listen, you'll have to feel." ;)

I think it has 2 issues with leaking. Yesterday, I watched while the wick saturated and saw liquid form in the cup. I did not say that in post #1109, but it was part of the reason for my opinions stated there. Most E2's do not leak this way, so you can't run a test on just one of them and see this.

The same thing happened with this E2 -->#113. This one has a sealer in the bottom, so the leak was not coming from there. While you are on this page, scroll down to post #115 for a short statement about the sealer. I did not say anything about possible leaking in this one, but you can bet I was thinking about it. I was hoping that someone else would form that opinion instead of me just coming right out and saying it. I was also thinking about possible leaks in this one -->#884 and this one -->#893. To tell you the truth, I wasn't wanting to be an alarmist about something that had not been proven. At that time, my thoughts were to wait until I had some for testing.

I have not formed any definite conclusions about leaks at the bottom yet. I can make one leak there, so I know it is possible. The inside of these things move around all over the place. The assembly can rotate like a merry go round. I can push one in further and so can the battery when it is screwed on. I can push the assembly out far enough for the center post to stick out way too far. I'm almost certain that I can push it out far enough for the silicone grommet to come out.

This grommet was not designed for the task that it is doing now. The original designers knew this and that is why they put the stuff in the bottom. The stuff that was in mine had no smell or taste and it did its job. I wish my XL's had some, because I don't know how long I can use one before it begins to leak there.
