I got the fluval foam.....which is clear....and it does work fantastic....I put an e-mail into Hagen to find out exactly what this stuff if made of.....and I don't have any chemical taste coming from it at all.....in fact....the liquid seems more flavorful. I'll post the results as soon as I get them.
It's not so much what it's made of that concerns me as much as what might possibly be able to leach into the juice. I keep telling myself that it is made to filter water for fish, and fish are very sensitive, so they must have made it in such a way that nothing is expected to leach out into water.

This ever so simple mod gets a huge thumbs up from me! I'm using the blue foam in 901, 801 and 510... cut to cart length, a little wider than the carts, and just slightly narrowed at the bottom. There's no leaking, the foam cradles high bridge attys nicely, and it wicks the juice efficiently so I'm not having to top off constantly.

okay, I've only been into this for a few days, but I already have a serious case of mod fever going on here, I've got springs, and foam, and teabags, and poly this that and the other strewn everywhere, amidst bottles and batteries, tweezers and droppers, napkins and sticky fingers 8-o

Anyway, the good news is, I'm happily vaping away right now and have been all day, using the Aqua Clear 50, tapered, and trimmed to a rounded shape fitting the cart not too snug, not too loose, I'm using approx' 2/3 AquaClear and 1/3 polyfill in the top (leakage using all Aquaclear).

Another equally effective way to go, is with the Pin hole all polyfiber cart mod, I'm getting long lasting clouds of tasty vapor with both of them...oh! and btw, this is with an 801 cart.

So, now I have that sorted, I'm ready to move on to getting my juice flavors, mg's, ml's and whatnot straightened out while I'm waiting for the parts to arrive for a 5volt box I'm going to build, and after that, a pass through...... although to be honest, this 801 box mod I got from Cybervex is working flawlessly :thumb:

Looks like this is turning into a new hobby for me.. :D

Man! what a breakthrough these e-cigs are, I've been smoking a pack a day all of my adult life and now it looks like it's all over!

smonomo.....and I mean it this time! :)

i went to local pet shop, buy some open cell foam, stuff it up, and got bad leakage throuhgh atty to the battery...
guess the cells are too big at mine... they´re 2,5 maybe even 3mm big... too big isn´t?
anyway, can´t find "Rite-Size Foam/Filter Sleeves for HOT Magnum" at local distributors, all of those available are US based and they don´t shipping to EU where i´m...
anyone knows EU based/ ships to EU distributor ?
i do need this for my 401...
please:nun:

but the same thing happens with this as does with the teabag mod. I own a dragon (501 I believe) and when I put the foam in, I can barely wick. I've tried stuffing it 3 times, all of them looser in increments. For obvious reasons (liquid at the top) i get a really good vape the first 3 hits, then BOOM, dwindles in quality right after that. I already have the foam, if I didn't buy it i wouldn't be so set on using it. Can someone please help me out?

How much wider than the cartridge are you making the foam?
Are you sure that it is not leaking and flooding the atomizer?

You have to find the right balance, so it wicks well and doesn't leak.

I'm making it the same size as the cart, the last time I tried I made it as exact as possible. I'm not sure if the case is in fact that it's dripping into the atomizer. it fits in like the regular stuff (polyfill?) yet it doesn't seem to want to work for me. *sadface*
My guess is that it is leaking and flooding the atomizer in that case.
I make mine about 1/4 to 1/3 wider than the cartridge, but I'm still trying to find the perfect size.

WOW, only a few minutes later after taking your advice on the 1/3 or so extra and my GOD this is amazing. I really appreciate your help and never did I think in my 19 years of living that a dead cat would be the one to help me with my problems :3 thanks so much.
I never thought a penguin/octopus would ever benefit either, so there you go.

Another option is to fold a longer piece in two, if your having trouble with the single layer leaking. At times I can be fairly brutal with the force I apply via suction and if the filler of any type is at all loose, it basicly emties the cart instantly. With it folded in two, I tried to make it do that and could not. :D

It may just be me, but it seems my 510 runs a lot cooler with this filler than with fluval. I am liking this a lot as more flavor comes through. I can also chain vape on it more withought worrying I am about to melt anything!

 for the blue stuff!

I've been running all my 510 carts with Blue Foam for a while now and it's a home run for me. I've just gone with cart size foam and really haven't had leaking issues at all. I guess If I'm doing one of those high-vacuum desperation vapes (like when you've been denied for a few hours and finally get a chance to vape) I can pull some juice through and into my mouth. But in general it works flawlessly. The best part is the amount of juice I can get in. With Poly I could maybe get 10 drops in. With same-size Blue foam I can get 18 - 20 in. Very nice!!!

Blue Foam FTMFW!!!

word of advise unless you enjoy a umm weird powder texture to your mouth.

WASH the living daylights out of the foam first and squeeze it dry, wash it again hot tap water works well. and redry it.

Thanks, Dred. I just came here to post about that powdery mouth sensation.

I'm using the Fluval brand foam, and did wash it before use, the obviously didn't
get the livin' daylights entirely out. Will rewash and try again.

Didn't anyone else notice this this powdery thing?

Re: flavor - I kinda thought the foam might
be adsorbing some flavor, compared to PTB or poly. Anyone else?
