I remember in NY you would pay around $70 (its over $100 now??? I hear??) for a carton of Marlboro...but on the "res" it was only $55.

But I guess you cant blame the Native Americans for saying "if you pay $100 for a carton of smokes, we will charge you $80". Heck they make more money, and we save money.

Not an ideal solution... ideal would be to leave vaping alone... but I think inside we all know that our Fed and State are just champing at the bit to TAX the e-cigs industry (and us). Heaven forbid if they cant TAX everything...Im surprised there isnt a "atmosphere usage tax" for breathing!
Don't give them any ideas! I can't afford to pay to breathe, I would just have to die.

I hope all e-cigarette users are doing their part to communicate to the HEAD HONCHOS, that may wipe out the availability of this miraculous product and all it's mutations. Here is my letter to
Myrtle Beach Mayor and Council. Everyone of us is urged by our best supporter and spokespeople known as CAASA.ORG
http://www.casaa.org/CTA/article.asp?
articleID=226&l=a&p

Here is what I wrote, probably not perfect and I am sure some of you could do better, but I am serious about keeping this life saving device available to myself and anyone else that wishes to use them.

Dear Mayor Hatley:

1. You would like them to exclude electronic cigarette use from the ordinance.

I would like you to exclude electronic cigarette use from the ordinance proposed. People who use them including myself, have
had great improvements in sense of smell, taste and the reduction of smoking related ills. This is steam not smoke! It contains no levels of carcinogens such as are found in real burning tobacco products. There are studies that point to nicotine itself and alone as a beneficial drug, that shows promising results in aiding the memory issues associated with Alzheimer's disease.

2. Tell your story on how switching to an e-cigarette or smokeless tobacco has changed your life. You may want to tell of an experience with vaping in public, if you have one that would display the difference between using e-cigarettes and smoking.

Since I have started using an electronic cigarette my clothing no longer stinks of cigarettes (tobacco burning cigarettes), my eye sight has improved. My ability to concentrate has improved. I am no longer wheezing and coughing as I did while smoking. I am able to go for days without having a real cigarette. In public, I attract questions about the e-cigarettes and people ask for more information, because they love their spouses, their parents and others that they know are ill from the effects of real cigarette consumption. I feel good knowing that the steam that emits from the electronic cigarette has been proven not to harm any passive breathers. I am releaved of the SHAME SHAME SHAME that smoking a known cancer causing disease has had on my life. Nicotine is said to be more addictive than ....... That does not mean you throw the babies out with the bath water! There are studies finding that nicotine is beneficial. Doctors can prescribe a nicotine patch, nicotine gum and inhalers. E-cigarettes are far more pleasing to smokers than the above, which have no long term provable record on helping smokers quit smoking or nicotine use.

3. Explain how electronic cigarette use is easy to distinguish from actual smoking. Although some e-cigarettes resemble real cigarettes, many do not. It is easy to tell when someone lights a cigarette, from the smell of smoke. E-cigarette vapor is practically odorless, and generally any detectable odor is not unpleasant and smells nothing like smoke.

The vaper from e-cigarettes is almost 100% water. The trace amounts of propylene glycol or food grade vegetable glycerin that are mixed into the nicotine juice that produces, which with heat produces what feels like a throat hit and looks like a cloud of smoke are 360 deg. from what a real carcinogenic cigarette has from burning leaf tobaccos grown with chemicals and cured with chemicals that are known to cause cancer and are still legal. Banning real smoking is beneficial, but e-cigarettes are a miracle and should be supported and available, not banned. The diseases that smoking causes should be the reason for the ban. Not because someone is addicted to nicotine, or because they are dependent and enjoy holding and puffing on whatever works! Do not stand in the way of progress. In 150 past years, this planet has evolved to what it is, from horse and buggy to space exploration. Do not be so quick to judge a person for their hand to mouth behavior. Only in the United States are people killing themselves with obesity and lack of exercise, causing serious health issues. E-cigarettes have replaced smoking for millions and thanks to the hand to mouth behaviors, people who use e-cigarettes do not eat themselves into a super sized heart attack, diabetes and other hand to mouth related ills.

PLEASE INSTEAD OF PUSHING FORWARD IGNORANCE AND FEAR PROPAGANDA, TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO
RID THE PLANET OF ONE OF THE WORST PLAGUES THAT HAVE EVER EXISTED, THE ENHALING OF BURNING TOBACCO LEAVES. KNOWN BY ALL AS SMOKING!

CASAA | The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association

Please do not promulgate false information, unscientific prejudice and fear. Their are
volumes of studies and good information on why millions of smokers are finally finding a safe alternative to smoking!

He is a saint in my opinion, who tirelessly works to help rid the planet of carcinogenic smoking, but save smokers from bans against e-cigarettes and has done more for smokers than any person I know of. Thank You Bill Godshall!

Black market here i comeeeeee

yes. that's exactly the argument. put aside the public health issue for a sec. how dumb are your elected representatives to drive this underground.

nuture the right form of 'greed is good' policy here and it's win-win. even for tobacco (agriculture consortia) and pharma (post processing). tobacco is wise now but pharma and their 'pocket pols' are lost in the woods.

(brought to you by your friendly neighborhood 'socialist')

Hopefully others are being active vapors and trying to protect their rights. This was me in a sea of letters last week. I only hope at least one of the 28 gets read. What's happening is just wrong. Call your senators, if you can hell try to talk to them in person.
I just wrote senators all over the country.

Do You have a letter to share to a Senator? It would make it easier, not that that's so much the reason for not doing it.
I know there are protocols and ways to address these leaders of ours, I remember seeing it in the old huge Webster's Dictionary. I will do it, forgive me, but human nature does get in the way of right action, that's a bad example of how. I can do better LOL My Senators are Democrats, so wish me luck! The I'm so helpless routine has got to go out with the rest of the procrastination crep.

You are all inspiring to me though!!! I will keep that thought! My health is inspiring along with my artist's zilch income bracket.
No more excuses, we need to act and do it quickly. At least our lungs are strong enough for a March at the Capitol. Not an old "hippy" sit-in a March! Whatever it takes.

I'm so glad to help! I hope I light some sparks on the bottoms to really DO something like writing letters, calling, meeting with senators if possible, ect ect because if ALL of us just wrote 10 letters? Holy....

Lisa I'll be more then glad to share the letter. It's just very very long so you may want to try to create a shorter version for your own use. I didn't think it was very long when I wrote it but when I actually printed it , it turned out to be 3 pages. *gulp* which is why I'm hoping at least ONE gets read. Even if skimmed though 5 I'd be happy. I'll personally message it to you to help get you going.
