I don't think I've seen CASAA representatives insulting Obama supporters or demeaning ECF members for their political affiliations? I was only explaining why CASAA ever mentions a specific party and how that could be misunderstood as us picking on one particular party and appear partisan if you don't know the history. Had it been the Republicans introducing all of these laws, it would look like we are picking on them, lol! There have been a lot of insulting comments about political parties in general - you've made a few disparaging remarks about Libertarians in other threads that I've let pass, too - but the general anti-Obama/Democrat comments haven't been coming from CASAA?

I think I only did that once. And it was deliberate to show that it's a potential problem. Some of my best friends are Libertarians (Comes from reading so much Heinlein)

I have not seen anybody post about a party out-of-context while explicitly saying they were CASAA, but I can see how newbies would *think* it was, because lots of people have [edit: or HAD? ]casaa signatures and post on threads about calls to action.

I will now just give up on this topic, it's clear that I'm not making anything better.

Hopefully, my earlier post helps clear things up about whether or not CASAA is partisan as an organization.

Yea, Though I cant seem to learn my lesson here on ECF. I have cracked some mild jokes about our current President (lets not forget I'm a Dem), people have called me out on it. Its all in good fun. I dare not to ARGUE tho....people get too serious for me!

Well, I have this fantasy he had something to do with the change of who heads the tobacco group in the FDA, but realistically, I think between N. Korea and the Middle East, his staff is probably handling anything remotely routine. Maybe someone's computer is down.

I think we should do 2 things:

1. Petition for a tax rebate (on ecological grounds) for switching to vaping.

2. Write to Miss Manners and tell her to tell Obama it's better to sneak a vape behind the barn than to chew gum on camera at serious events.

Coming in here to keep up on the latest on the FDA Regs as listed in the thread title is an exercise in frustration when having to wade through page after page after page after page after page of irrelevant political screeds and off-topic rants and ill-targeted pot shots.

Not sure why there are moderators if a sticky is allowed to devolve like this. It's really disappointing. There are many other sections of the forum in which to engage in free-range chest thumping - this shouldn't be one.

I was just about to post the same. I've been comming back to see if anything new has developed and all I read are other political arguments or something not relevant in anyway to the topic.

If I could like this comment 10 times, in capital letters, I would. I think it'd be a good idea to split the thread and start one called "general political comments, snarks, thumps and rants here". The mods are either disingenuous or truly clueless about how polarizing and obnoxious and just plain tedious this stuff is for many of us who are simply attempting to stay updated and informed re unfolding events.
This has nothing to do with free speech or political correctness. It has to do with appropriate venue (designated thread) and common courtesy in common cause.

The FDA is NOT a distant planet in the universe.
Its a US Government Agency.

If the White House administration was pro harm reduction
you can bet your bottom dollar ... This thread probably
would not have even been posted.

I expect that a new thread will be started once the FDA actually releases its proposed regulations. All of this thread is speculation and even the title is dated now. There is not really anything to add to the original topic until the FDA actually acts and when it does there will likely be a dozen new threads. With a few other threads already going on speculation of what the FDA may or may not do, I definitely agree this one doesn't really need to be stickied anymore.

When there is such a long pause in the "action" the thread will naturally deviate from the main topic. Just look at the SE vs. FDA thread. It deviated wildly as we awaited the ruling!
