Pete--I am glad it is working for you. I am also sorry to report that Exo will no longer be with us. I am not at liberty to report why--but it did not have anything to do with any of us. I am sorry to see him go as he was a great asset.-------Sun

Hi Sun...I had heard that something had upset Exo and I have worried that maybe I could have said something that he could have taken the wrong way, it's so easily done with typed words. I am relieved to hear its nothing to do with any of us but I will sure miss him being around. As you say he was a great asset to the forum with all that knowledge of his and I really liked his sense of humour, which always seemed to tickle me so much because I never seemed to be expecting it. :(

Hey hi Razor...I have kept on coming back to this thread reporting on how it's going with this method of atomizer cleaning, just in case anyone was following it...For me to have atomizers lasting even for as much as two weeks is nothing short of a miracle and this is my second one in a row, so there does seem to be something in this method of cleaning, unfortunately I guess it could also be nothing more than just a bit of luck.

Time will tell but, two in a row is a pretty good start..I'm just hoping to be able to do it with a mod.. That would be nice...

Lol....if that's you in your avatar....I think there will be a few 'mods' who will be happy about that!! (Just kidding) ....Yes that's the only trouble you do have to have a mod or a button operated e-cig to be able to do the dry burn.

Hi All

Been following all of these atty life extension threads since before I even began vaping. "Prepare for the Worst, Live for the Best."

The only other method I tried was Ice Machine Cleaner soak w/mixed results and requiring a LOT more effort.

I waited until pete's first atty on this method died & he posted that amazing pic of what I would concur is the best looking dead atty ever seen after 17 days of continuous use!

To get started with this method in the quickest way possible, I simply took an old 4.5v 800mA AC-to-DC Power Adapter I had lying around, chopped the end off, spread the wires a good distance apart & stripped the ends; I wrapped 1 wire around the outside of the atty & held it w/a pair of pliers, while inserting the other wire Barely into the end of the atty for 10sec at a time. I have since been modding this into a more permanent setup as time permits.

I must add: As well as blowing out all gunk in the beginning with compressed air; Due to talk of left over particulates, I have begun giving a quick shot of compressed air after each 10sec burn smoke has stopped, And YES, every so often (but not always), a small cloud of "dust" Does visibly exit.

And Finally, How I vape with maximum effect:

I go through about 1-2 cart refills per day. I burn once a day, when cart is spent between refills.

  • Immediately after refill I keep my ecig at a 45degree angle cart end Down, until vape gets a little weak.
  • At that point I keep my ecig Horizontal... again, until vape gets a little weak.
  • Finally, I keep my ecig at a 45degree angle LED end Down, until it no longer vapes.
  • Using this method, nothing Ever floods, vape lasts & is Always strong, cart is Fully spent, & atty is practically empty when vape fades.

Thank You ALL For Contributing To This Community!

I have found very much help here!

Hi atoms....well day '17' is here again on my second atty and so far it's still working perfectly. My fingers are crossed that it's going to work for even longer than the last one did but even if they all start lasting me (and working perfectly the whole time) for just for two weeks I would still be happy enough.

This is still working very well for me too Pete :)

My last atomizer was about a month and a half old - and even it's dying (not really dying but getting unusable) was just a freak accident, it could have lived for longer (the unit I was burning with, rolled onto it's button without me seeing it when I was done and put it down, with atty still attached and a new cart on ready to use again - well, when I looked that way again, smoke was emerging, my cart had melted all overthe atty, and the passthrough-button must have been melted inside too, because the button was 'melted' in the on-stance, so just kept going... so loss of atty, cart and passthrough in fact...)

But... with keeping eyes open, this sure seems to be the best method to date.

Wow Katink a whole month and a half is fantastic!! wonder how long it would have lasted if it wasn't for having that happen though.

Well today is day 18 for my coil..so I have beaten my last one doing this dry burn method of cleaning but unfortunately yesterday I forgot all about doing it, so it had two days of vaping without a burn and this morning I was having problems and getting that awful 'chip fat' taste, so I thought I had better do the burn and when I did, it took quite a long time to get the coil glowing red and when I tried vaping it still tasted horribly 'fatty' so I gave it another red hot burn and then rinsed it out with vodka. I was half expecting it was going to die but it seems to have worked and at the moment it's vaping and tasting o/k again. So fingers crossed.

Nice work ;)

Seems every day is the best way.

I had been reading this thread, 'prolly 1/2 way through, days ago, and I tried a new 4hr. old addy and it "poped" and went dead. Now, I made the mistake of blowing on the addy to make it hotter when it "poped" and died. I was using an SD to do my controlled burns.

Was this a fluke? or Did gently blowing on it increase the temp too much?

Atoms2009: If I'm understanding your method correctly, and there is a possibility that I am not. From what I understand, you made what is called a "suicide cord", thus, I hope you would be so kind as to edit or to re-post and advise the non-skilled as to the dangers and/or the necessary precautions/insulated tools.

That was my experiance Monkey---but it is working for Pete and others--maybe a lower voltage or shorter burn?-----Sun

Hi sun ...I am only using a max of about 4.2 Volts with this atty (I replaced one of the batteries in my mod with a dummy).....and I am also only doing one burn a day and that is only until I see the coil glows red,, as soon as I can see the red glow I shut it off. It's still Ok and it's day 19 today wooohooo.
