I got my Heron today, and decided I was going to get my Spheroid working properly before I started on the Heron. So, after almost two weeks and an entire spool of wire, several run on sentences containing only enough words in the dictionary to frame my expletives, I finally got it! I'm not knocking it. It's completely on me that I had so much trouble with it. Next time I may make a three hour video with a warning label. It was worth it at least. The thing is a beast. I still may need to hire someone with small hands to string it again though. Hopefully I get a v3 kit before the next build.

I feel you completely :) Back in 2012 when George and me tested the Spheroid, we had some difficult hours, till we tamed that beast. We putted too much fluff, too much wick, we had hot legs and hot spots, etc. We took notes of what worked and what not and we succeeded to simplify the whole build in a few steps, so everything became easy and quick. The step by step tutorials in the tips and tricks thread with the gathered experience of vapers from many forums have accelerated the Spheroid's learning curve even further.

If I knew you were having such a hard time building a coil, I would have chimed in earlier. Im new to RBAs (1 week) and vaping (3.5 weeks).

You have to watch the YouTube vids on building coils. They show you how to do it step by step. I watched at least 10 building videos on YouTube. Once I got my 2 RBA tanks about a week ago (Kayfun Lite +) I took them to a local vape shop, tipped the guy 20 bucks, and asked him to teach me step by step how to build coils on them. He did both the Kayfuns, but I watched and asked a ton of questions. (Tipped him $10.00 more than what they charge for rebuilding - $5.00 per build and he took about 30-45 mins teaching me step by step). I redid the wick a couple times since then myself and then finally built my first coil last nite. Microcoil 1 shot in about 15 minutes.

Best bet is to go to a vape store that has a builder. Take the time to learn from him/her. They will teach you all there is to know about building.

Im looking forward to building a dual coil on my next attempt.

EDITED: Maybe the Spheroids a different beast and you already know how to build. If that's the case... disregard my post... LOL. Just trying to help. :)

Number 332 in the house! Gonna try to get it set up today so I can take it with me to Hawaii tomorrow :) Still have to pack too.

How much fluff should I use? I vape heavy VG stuff...

I don't remember if anyone posted this ... but here it is ...

Unpacking - GP Heron - First Impressions - YouTube

P, would it be possible to post the above video in the VapourArt Gallery? It took me forever to find the link here :p I had a hella time getting the thing apart, and wanted to verify what was threaded and what wasn't, so I wouldn't damage any threads. Whomever was concerned about the o-rings not holding the tank in place - won't be a problem I can assure you! :D

Thank you for yet another piece of beautiful craftsmanship and art. Can't wait to fire it up! :vapor:

60-70 mm length will be fine.

Well I didn't do any crazy double-stranded DNA coil build, just a quick and dirty single coil. Color me fanboi...
I just went from 18mg to 12, and now I'm debating going down to 6. My Boba's has never tasted better. Perseus, I think if the next batch of Herons is 5 times bigger it will still sell out 100 times faster.

My Heron was going smoothly for my first build for the first hour, then started gurgling. So I ripped it all apart and rebuilt, using 65mm fluff this time.

I've used silica, SnC yarn, and cotton balls....with and without the cap for all of these....and I can not for the life of me get this thing to keep up with wicking. I end up with a burnt hit every time. After about 15 builds last night, I gave it a break. Hopefully today I can get her back up and running. I really wanted to show it off at work today too!

I'm determined to conquer this thing! lol

I've been there and the next day I made a quick (clumsy) cotton build that worked flawlessly :)

Do you recommend changing the fluff every time you change the flavour of juice in the heron?

I believe it has been mentioned that you can just rinse out the fluff, let it dry and reuse it. So I guess you can have a second one ready while you wait for the fluff to dry. Others may have a different way of dealing with it.

I don't even take it off the bell...just rinse in hot water, squeeze completely dry, and reassemble. I use a long sewing needle to "re-fluff" inside of the bell before juicing.

Same here but with less builds :)
I find that blowing through it a little gets rid of the gurgle...without gurgle it's the best thing since sliced bread, with gurgle not so much

Gurgling or condensation inside the bell: Over wicking or filler material too much close to the lips of the bell can usually cause that combined with a chain vaping style. Push the filler a bit downwards and blow through the air vents to get rid of the excessive liquid gathered in the bell or blow through the bottom part of the body to drive the condensation out via the drip tip. Check you filler and wick too. Moreover, when the battery is weak in relation to the resistance, the vaporisation is done partially and condensation is gathered into the bell.

not sure if you can see that well, but are you saying that my fluff is to close to the bell opening and that I should push it deeper in?
