I could use some advice for my newish Heron. (I've been traveling and decided to leave it home where it'd be safe and sound, so haven't used it a great deal since its arrival.)

I've got a simple loop wick, 30g Kanthal, 5 wraps, around 1.7 ohms.
It's running hot and spitting: I don't feel the spit when I vape, but my tongue does afterwards. I lowered the coil a bit to see if that helps, but it really didn't. Using my Sophia instead right now.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Dude that's a great idea. I was going to tear my crossed / stacked build out tonight anyways and go from 30g to 28 or 26 so I may give this a try. 26g should be thick enough to do it with.

My new favourite coil right now is parallel 26g where you wrap two wires together. This one is .38 and a great vape. Two second pulls gets you a ton of vapour and fantastic flavour (at least in the Quasar). I might see if I can squeeze a parallel 28 in to the Heron.

How is this coil in parallel? And are you talking about twisted kanthal coil? Im really confused because that single coil does not look like a .35ohm coil.... :S

you see that there are 2 wires in the right post?
you take 2 wires, hold them parallel and make a microcoil ;)

I know what a parallel connection is. I wouldn't be an electrician if i didn't. But i dunno if its my eyes but i don't see 2 wires in 1 post... and normally when I do, its twisted kanthal. this coil does not look twisted. thus why i was confused. how come you did it this way instead of using 2 0.7ohm coils using the 3rd post, which would equal 0.35ohms

Just trying to understand the theory behind doing it this way

Forgive how blurry this is , just cropped the other image. I tried to take a new picture but there's a wick and juice in it now.

You it's harder to make out on the positive but on the negative you can see both wires going in. IMO this coil is putting out better flavour and better vapour than using the two wires separately to run dual coils.

Ah okay... Good to know when I get my Zenith v2... I was never a fan of dual coils. But may I recommend you twisting the 2 wires before wrapping? instead of wrapping just side by side. I do mine like this... twisted 28g 6 wraps at 0.5ohms

I did this pretty quick, don't mind the ....ty twisting of the kanthal. Usually i twist it a lot tighter, but you get the idea...

Hey Strike. Did your Heron/V3 survive the evening out with the Mrs Strike?

Yes, thankfully. She only used it twice. Lol.

This is happening now though...starting to dislike mod cleaning day. I haven't even taken the switches apart yet.

I've used twisted wire many times , this is much better.

Sorry your saying your method is better or the twisted method? I only want to put 1 coil in my zenith and get a nice big solid vape, and since the quasar and zenith v2 are similar RDA's id like to know which is the better method

Thanks Chadsmo

I agree, but do you prefer wrapping the wires side by side, or twisting them in a drill nice and tight?

It's a totally different kind of vape. The flavour on this parallel is more full and I find the vapour more dense too.

Of the two of them I 100% prefer it over twisted.
