Wow. I finally got my Heron set up. Used the included ribbon (first time with ribbon) and silica. Simple 5 wrap with a little loop for wick. First time using fluff as well. It is such a dream to vape this. Flavor is unreal and airflow all the open is awesome!

Ok. Both Herons have been cleaned and rebuilt. New bells installed (thanks Perseas), ribbon wire installed with the new cotton pads (thanks Idaho for build idea and Xtreme for pad samples).

Rained today forcing me to clean and rebuild many of my setups. Kind of thanking the rain as I needed to give each some care. :)

Ok question. Is it normal to have a tiny bit of juice/condensation inside the drip tip well? Every once in awhile I get a little bit in my mouth. Is there something I can do build-wise to prevent it? Did I do something wrong build-wise? Just curious.

It get it too. I have to assume it has to do with the depth of your drip tip and how much space is left between the bottom of the tip and the well.

I posted this in the main thread but I'll add it here too.

I came up with this build last night and after a sloppy first attempt I've loving this.

This is using 30awg and I wrapped them around a toothpick that I broke in half. There is not a lot of room to work with but with some patience it fits.

I wrapped the coils on the center of the toothpick, took them off and torched them and quenched them a few times. The top coil still separated a bit due to how you have to mount it , but there's no hot spots and it lights up well. After getting them nice and right insert the pointy end of the tooth pick and push until you feel just enough resistance to hold it in place, it makes pulling it out much easier.

Place the bottom coil in and have the leads coming off the top of the coil because it needs to stay low so it doesn't touch the top coil. Wrap the leads around the posts to keep them in place. The put the top coil on and have the leads come off the bottom. There is not a ton of room between the coil and the bell so you probably don't want it any higher than I have it. I leave my leads really long when I wrap coils so for the top coil I can pass them around half way and being them back the other way and pin them in place against the tube. Then with those pinned down you can snug up the bottom leads and tighten down the screws. That part is a little annoying because the toothpick the top coil is in will be in the way.

For a wick I just take one strand of SnC yarn and pull it half to have two wicks consisting of two individual strands. Pull them through with a bit of kanthal and trim them to the right length.

This build is definitely annoying to get right. There is very little room between the airhole in the deck and the two coils to not have anything touching , but for me it's the best build I've had in the Heron by far. Both coils being right above the airhole in the deck is much better than having them side by side and level. The flavour and vapour is just fantastic.

First of all, I finally got around to setting up the Heron tonite and I am loving it on the Paps v3!! But..... I have to admit a stupid thing I did!! After building a coil and using some yarn for wick, I took my first hit and damn it was tight!! So, I reviewed some notes and had forgotten it had afc but the dumb thing is that it took me 15 minutes to realize I had the ring on upside down!! I thought I had too much fluff, too much wick, rebuilt it all and then it occurred to me that the 3 holes were covered!! Oh well, it is vaping very nicely now!

I do not have much experience with multimeters since I check my coils on a little 510 box or my provari but I do always check my builds. With the heron, I had to break out the elcheapo harbor freight multimeter I bought sometime back and had some confusion on how to properly use it. Checking batteries was a breeze but I had difficulties with checking my coil. I built a coil, 29ga kanthal, 10 wraps and installed the coil. I touched the screws with each end of the meter. Is the setting below in the picture the correct setting to use?? Or do I use one of the other settings to read ohms? What does the "1" designate? Do I subtract "1" from my reading? I tried to google the use of this tool measuring ohms on coils but no avail!! Please advise any tips or correct usage of this type multi tool or a link to a better one or easier one to use.
However, the coil had no hotspots and glowed from inside to out but I want to make sure my unit reads properly and I use it properly!! Please help with these questions please!
I have the black lead plugged into the black hole and the red lead plugged into the adjacent red hole even though there is another red hole above it.

Looks like you have the right resistance setting for your device although why it's reading "1" without the leads being connected to anything is beyond me... I don't know the specifics of your device.

edit: normally, you would press your two leads to each other to determine the internal resistance of your device and then subtract that number from resistance measured get actual resistance.

I have that same pos meter...it's worth what I paid for it...nothing. It will not go low enough to measure vaping resistances.

Lmao, you are probably right!! Somewhere I read in a post elsewhere to grab one of these great tools!! For battery checking, I feel comfortable but no comfort with measuring ohms as I am expecting a number to pop up and it's all over the place, remove the coil, install on a 510 atty and check for comfort level. However, I will buy a better one by recommendation, Thanks

I was rethinking and did I need to fire the mod while checking the coil ohms by chance? I would need an extra hand to perform that trick though? I was checking without firing the mod, is that correct?
