Good morning GP fam! This may have been asked before but as a newbie X owner, is there a specific reason why in the Karabas detailed review, it is specified that the X tubes should be combined in a certain order where the "main tube" should always be connected to the "head" of the X?

So my Paps X took a rough tumble onto concrete, tip first, as it was standing on an outdoor table and my tiny tyrant (daughter) wiggled the table... off my Paps X went. Minor scuffs on it, but the drip tip took the brunt of the fall and subsequent damage. Looks like I will be needing a new one :(

Sorry to hear about the X. I had that happen to me once with my heron/v3 and another mod. The drip tip of the Heron took the brunt of the fall and put a couple of nicks in it. The tube had a couple of slight nicks, barely visible. Now, I'm right handed and for some reason I had a habit of setting my mods to the left of me (after a couple of vapes) when I'm working on the computer. Did that once and knock the mod right of the table. Broke the glass on my kf and had to get a replacement ugh. Now, I make sure they're back from the computer to my right. Hope you only need a drip tip and not an atty...

Sorry to hear about your X :( At least its just the drip tip that needs replacement :)

Broke my kayfun clear section by sitting on it while it was in my back pocket. Realized I had done it right as I did it. Doh!

Yes, indeed! Fortunately my Heron didn't take any damage, it seems. Just the drip tip!

I’m interested to see a knowledgeable response to your question as I too am curious. From what I’ve heard, the GP Paps X SS is brushed in Sophia with a particular configuration of the extensions and that you should use the same extension configuration to behold the same seamless and beautiful brushing. I always assumed that the “main tube” should be attached to the switch housing but I don’t know the order of the different tubes (which of course you might not be able to keep in the same order depending on your battery configuration). If there is any truth to this it would be nice if we could use these pictures from the GP Paps X SS product page as an illustration of the preferred order of extension tubes:

I've always just kept the main body on the switch side since that's the way it comes from VA. I honestly don't think there is a wrong or right way. I've used the main body the top for a while but it just didn't look right to me.

That's interesting, I didn't know there was a main tube. I just thought there where two extension tubes and a switch.

I think we're using the term "main tube" to refer to the tube with male threading on both ends (there's only one of those).

There's the switch, the top cap, the X/AFC ring, the "main tube", and then two additional extensions (for 18500 and 18650 batteries).

Excellent picture quality. Maybe someday my digital cameras will learn how to make them.

As we all know here, we are a little OCD with the details :D
Vladislav, the Ukrainian reviewer is of the same OCD breed and he asked me about the order of the tubes, so he wrote about the "correct" order in his review, but he probably missed the point. My preferred order is the main tube to be always connected with the switch. The reasons are 2:
1. Every X is polished as a whole having its parts in that exact order to keep their seams less obstructive, as Firestorm correctly said.
2. For a quick change of mode from 18350 to 18500/650/800.
