Does anyone know where to get the wick that ships with the Spheroid without shipping it from Europe? This stuff is pretty good, but I can't find any wick with a description that says "rated to 1832 degrees". I'm guessing it is 1mm thick, but then again it could be 1.5mm.

Anyone?

Domovaporco. If they have it in stock. It is the V2 Fluff. Good Luck!

Yeah, I meant the silica wick. The wick that came with the Spheroid seems to work better for me than the 2mm and 3mm Ekowool I have. The 1mm silica I've seen online seems to be rated between 1200 - 1600 degrees, while GP is rated at 1832 degrees so it apparently isn't the same stuff. I just thought someone might know where GP wick comes from so I could buy a bit and see if I like it any better. I hate to pay for shipping across the Atlantic for a few bucks in wick if I can avoid it.

Ah, Your looking for a good silica. I do understand. German silica seems to trump most. Mr.Wick on eBay sells high quality German silica in a couple of sizes friend. Tightly spun and sturdy.
The way I solved your problem for a while was to keep ordering Spheroids :).
Good luck.

PS- I should of read your original post more closely.

Most appreciated and thanks. I've been going through that GP wick pretty fast getting my Spheroid set up just right. I was hoping to stick with similar components for a while before changing to different wick media. Thanks again!

Welcome, please join us on the GP main thread here, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...p-paps-x-gp-piccolo-gp-snp-more-part-3-a.html .
A great bunch of family where you can learn quite a bit about GP and talk about anything.
It's a nice no compete place to hang your hat. You'll get welcomed.by all.

I also wanted to mention silica and its temp rating, don't be too concerned about an extra 200 degrees or so as I would venture that you are well below, well below any reason for concern.
Silica, if it is your choice of wick should last many tanks and is easily washed and dryburned.
I would be more than happy to send various mediums for you to try. You'll get there.
I and others will help you with anything you need in terms of various builds and one that suits your vaping style. I heard Perseas knows a thing or two as well :).
Cheers

isnt the silica that comes with the spheroid 2mm? if that's the case, that stuff is all over the place. The 2mm (when dripped with eliquid) floats right thru the coil on the spheroid for me. i don't know about temps and all, but 2mm seems to be the same silica that came with the spheroid (or close enough)...until proven wrong...

Yep it's 2mm. This is how mine is normally wicked. Vapourart sells the BEST 2mm silica I have ever used.

I wish I could find that good of quality here in the US. It's just a pain for me to order only wick from that far away.

Wow, so this was interesting to me. I had no idea that the 510 connection on the spheroid is actually two parts. Call me off or whatever, but it never dawned on me, nor did i notice it in pics on the site. So, anyway i had my spheroid lying around and i wanted to change the wick in it. Grabbed it, unscrewed the tank section off and screwed the base on to my v3 just to burn off excess, check the coil, etc; but it wouldn't fire. Strange i thought. Fiddle around with it a little longer and realized that it wasn't making a good connection. Fiddle with it a little longer; now here is where things go funny for me: I'm trying to tighten the base of the spheroid down to the top cap of the v3, but it actually unscrews the deck from the bottom 510 connection! If you dont understand, you will. Some how the bottom portion of the spheroid is actually composed of two parts that screw in different directions in order to close. Don't try to figure this out if you've been drinking lol. Needless to say, i got the spheroid put back together, to fire, wick changed and everything is great! However, this one took me by surprise. I'm no stranger to mods or mechanical objects, but i had no idea this little dinky thing (sorry P if you see this) would be so sophisticated!

It is indeed mate a very well thought out device. Congratulations on your perseverance. I mean that as, many would have given up or been upset about it. I for one am impressed.
What's amazing to me is the number of them in different members gear. I always seem to have a random run in with someone that just loves theirs. I use them every day and sometimes most of it.
The mechanics are so simple yet genius in concept.
Everyone should break them down just to appreciate what goes into designing such a fantastic atomizer.

And for cleaning. :p

I am now in third week of using ss mesh in the Spheroid.
There was a thread about using it a little while back that had a good tutorial for anyone interested (its pretty simple to do). Personally, I cut the mesh to the size of the tank. That way the mesh doesnt stick into the fluff directly.

I am enjoying it. The taste, already top notch with the Spheroid, is even better, much better than cotton.
Vapor production is good, but not quite as much as cotton. What is produced, however, is very dense.
The only real downside is that even though the mesh doesnt touch the cotton, it still catches strands of it. When that happens and you unscrew the tank to refill, it pulls apart the fluff.

All in all, I can reccomend it. Flavor changes are immediate, there is almost no upkeep, and the wick is easy to slide out of the coil for cleaning.

Does anyone else use mesh?

I have used mesh in the past a few times and was a big genesis atomizer fan for a long time. Having found the flavor not to be any better than ekowool at the time of use and moving on to strictly cotton now it was not worth it to me. It is far easier to throw another wick in than to burn and re oxidize a mesh wick. It is fun to experiment with Spheroid setups but, as the Spheroid is an obvious favorite of mine I prefer the traditional setup.
From build to refill there is no better flavor(on a properly set up cotton wick such as SnC yarn), wicking, or vapor production than a damn good as designed set up. :)

The wicks were cut down in the below pic but if you enjoy mesh flavor you might try something like this allowing cotton to transfer juice to the mesh. Too much of a pita to me :).

Funnily, we were having a spheroid & mesh chat over the road just now.. I'm a gennie lover (or rust muncher as some would say lol) but haven't tried it in the spheroid yet.
